  1. Breakaway's captain is now Mikael Hilden. I think he just transferred this very voyage.

Thanks for the info AL25.... Who else is on board? Do you know the names of the Hotel Director, Cruise Director, or Concierge? My Lee and I are sailing on Breakaway next week, and we can't wait!

Thanks in advance and again; we love Captain Hilden!

    And I thank you,

    JWK: Breakawayward

  2. Seriously. With how easy it is become platinum now, they should devise another tier of Latitudes for us crazy cruisers... My Lee and I have over 160 days at sea, have been on multiple two-week long cruises, and one time we strung four cruises together across three ships out of Miami calling it our "Crazy Cruise Marathon" why not have another level of past cruise members? Super Platinum, Diamond... Whatever... We've been here for years earning our status... How about actually making us feel like you appreciate our business, instead of having every cruise director say "we know you have a lot of choices for your cruise dollar. We thank you for choosing us." Actions speak louder than words. AMIRITE?

Really how much does an extra free dinner in Bistro cost NCL? How much soap and water are really used with an extra bag of laundry? Not everyone uses these benefits. We know this. Why chintz on those that do?!

I have been called an NCL cheerleader. I love NCL. My lee and I have been On almost 40 cruises, all but one on NCL. I don't understand why NCL's focus seems to be on first time cruisers and to heck with loyal past guests.

I know NCL reads these boards very carefully. So I put it to you, NCL: which is more cost effective: giving loyal consumers of your product the perqs they've earned, or taking these perqs away little by little and losing us.

I don't know if Royal or Celebrity or Princess do it any better (I know better than to take a Carnival-tannic Cruise) but whittle away some more benefits and it may be time to find out... Ain't sayin nothin. I'm just sayin.

    And I thank you

    JWK: Platinum

  3. They are not included and the best I could find out is to tip the Butler $5-$10 a day per person. Hope that helps

No, they are not. Tip accordingly :)

    Harriet

Thanks guys! Butlers and concierges are truly underrated under appreciated! We always tip them very well... It's just a question that we had.....

    And I thank you...

    JWK: tipping over

  4. This is our first time cruising out of Cape Liberty. I have a million questions.

We have a ride to the port...

Can we drop our bags and then have our ride drive us to wherever we have to after that?

    Is it really that far?

Is there a higher danger of losing your bags?

In NY, I can take on board almost a full size suitcase. Can I do that here? Is the metal detector big enough?

    Your help is appreciated.

    JWK: Jersey Newbie

  5. YES. It was wonderful! I loved the cheese balls as well.
Yes and they serve 8 types of delicious meats until you can't eat anymore for only $18. The bacon-wrapped chicken is delicious (yes they have chicken in a churrascaria, lol). The salad bar is out of this world, too. My girlfriend loved it.

CHEESE BALLS AND BACON AND CHICKEN OH MY!

This sounds less like a restaurant and more like an Atkins Health Care Center.... Just sayin.... CAN'T WAIT!

When My Lee and I were talking about this, we both said that this was one of those times when we'll have to try to actually be, you know, HUNGRY for a big dinner.... like when we go for the Porterhouse for two at Cagney's....

I plan on needing an elastic waist band on my pants after eating here....

    And I thank you

JWK: This is gonna be EPIC!

  6. I should start my own Ghost Hunters group for cruise ships..... Hey I will have to cruise....all part of the job :D

Count Me In... I'll bring my Proton Pack and my PKE (Psycho-Kinetic Energy) Meter... not to mention the K2 meter and EVP recorder.... we'll have the ships ghost free in no time....

And when I say no time, I mean 10 or 20 years or so... We HAVE TO BE THOROUGH!

It'll be rough, but we'll stay in every villa, suite, and penthouse just to make SURE there are no ghosts there. I'd be okay with the ghosts in the inside cabins on deck 2.... They're not bothering anyone... hee hee hee.....

    And I thank yoU,

    JWK: Ecto-1 Driver

  7. As he started to roll, he seen a woman sitting at the edge of the bed. He thought it was Judy and he said, what are you doing? Judy was on the other side of him and said 'sleeping." When he realized it wasn't Judy he continued looking at her, she was a woman with blonde shoulder lenght hair.. he thought it was my wife Nancy then. ( who is blonde with shoulder length hair). He said Nancy is in here, what do you need Nancy? Judy said, "Rob, your talking in your sleep." Rob said I AM NOT SLEEPING.....Then the woman stood up and had a light around her, she was smiling at him. She continued smiling and he said she floated towards the closets in the room..... she then disappeared in front of the closets. Needless to say he was freaked out over this. I told the story to some of the crew that we became close with and they all said that there are many stories like this one. I was trying to find out the cabin number of the woman that fell out of the Balcony on the Dawn but no one could verify the cabin number. Rob found a picture of the woman this afternoon. http://www1.phillyburbs.com/pb-dyn/news/112-05162008-1535088.html

He says, he thinks that was her.

Well, if you're gonna be bound to the earth, she picked a nice place to stay :D

Truly... Haunting the Dawn is the way to be a ghost! It's way better than haunting a cemetery or the Queen Mary.... The Queen Mary's Pool cannot be filled because the supports and struts underneath the pool were taken out, so the structure can't support the weight of the water. AND there's no casino! What's a cruise ship without a pool and a casino?!

And another thing, I'd much rather haunt the Dawn than be tied to the sad-looking sugar plantation that was said to be haunted on St. Kitt's....

Where are TAPs when you need them? PS can anyone find the "ghost" of me in the Star Club Casino :D

  8. My Lee and I book a cruise. I get giddy. My Lee denies the actual booking of the cruise until she is sipping the champagne they give you when you step aboard. Our main worry is the care and comfort of our two feline masters. Once that is solved, packing and preparing is a minor ordeal, but all the while giddy... Cruising WOOO WOOO

    And I Thank You:

JWK: Gleeful, Glad, and yes, Giddy

Just a few Days until the Star baby!

Then there's GIDDY OVER-DRIVE: When you go online and finish your "pre-boarding" and print your e-docs. GIDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDYYYYYYYY

    WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

    *ahem*

    And I thank you

JWK: Ready and Docked (or is it "DOC-ed"?)

  9. My pattern:

I get very excited just before and after booking. Definitely giddy. The week before I will be very up and excited and packing. That is another GIDDY phase! The night before I am a wreck. I feel awful, knots in stomach, worrying about what I forgot to pack, worrying about timing, feeling it will never happen and wondering why I EVER go on vacation and swearing I never will again. (I know, I am just a tad moody.) *NOOOOO...It's right in the man's NAME*

The morning of, I let all that worrying go and have a wonderful time no matter what. DEFINITELY GIDDY!!!

  10. The white hot hot white ice cold hot hot hot party was held on each of the three sailings we've been on this year on the Gem. They sell shirts, have black lights, and loud music. What makes these cool are the drinks they serve. You can have your drink served to you in a glass MADE of ice! Now, naturally there's a plastic-holder-thing for you to HOLD in your hand, but there's this goblet shaped piece of ice that holds your drink! IT'S SO COOL! Other than that, like the "New Year's" celebration they have (also on EVERY cruise) it's an excuse (like you needed one) to dance and drink all night long.....

    And I thank you....

    JWK: WHITE HOT!
