  1. I'm on Magic. They called out about 3 names after back on board time. They did this several times. The only other announcement came about 8 o'clock then about 915 saying "we are waiting on clearance to leave, sorry for the inconvenience." We finally left about 1020. Breeze was stuck behind us. They were still there about 15 minutes after we left then I left the deck. I wonder if we will actually make it to Costa Maya. We are supposed to be there 7-1. I had plans but don't care either way. What I don't want is to set my alarm only to find out we aren't stopping. I'm not one to be able to go back to sleep. I don't care (past hoping the people are ok) what the reason was for the delay. Most of the time it isn't the passengers business bUT I do think we are owed an announcement for what our plans will be for tomorrow.

  2. If you purchased travel insurance, check your policy. It is likely covered. If you did not, check with your credit card company. A lot have travel insurance built in and may cover this. My credit cards are actually very generous with travel coverage so it might surprise you. All the details should be available on your CC website if you manage your account online. You are are basically in the 100% penalty phase so it won't be money you are guaranteed to get back. You can always request from Carnival that they make a one time except and break the rules for future cruise credit or refund. It would be a totally kind gesture on their part as that is not in the cruise contract.

Please do what is right for you. As someone who works in healthcare and also suffered a very personal loss of a family member this past year, I can assure you no decision you make with going or not going will be wrong. DO WHAT IS RIGHT FOR YOU. You will find a lot of keyboard warriors with all kinds of opinions. No matter what you choose you will find others who choose the same and or differently. There is no right answer.

I hope your family member has a very peaceful passing and my condolences to your family.

  3. I have a family member that can only be in the sun for short periods of time. Looking to have a beach day for entire family but that requires access to shade. Does Blue Kay offer loungers in the shade? Do you have any other recommendations. I'm not looking for a AI. Would rather have pay as you go. Advice about available locations?

  4. We did a guarantee last cruise & it was assigned 2 days later, I was hoping for an upgrade. But no such luck for us, perhaps you will get lucky. I was able to find our cabin # in our cruise docs, I am assuming you've already checked there. I've read here that it sometimes isn't assigned until embarkation day & in that case the porters know your cabin #.

I do check my booking every day. The inside cabin wasn't upgraded as far as know (not quite sure how the sub categories work) but from everything I read it is a nice room in a good location. I'm not counting on a upgrade. Just more excited and eager to know. I did call Carnival today to make sure nothing was wrong with the booking. Who knows... maybe we will be pleasantly surprised. If one of the balcony people are willing to upgrade to a suite and we can move right on into that balcony. :D

  5. Hi CocaCola,

We have had an assignment on the last week before the cruise, but as said, you could be told on embarkation day. :o Surprise !!

Who knows, maybe you will get one of upsell calls offering you a suite. Just in case, make sure you know what they are worth (in advance), and how much extra you would be willing to pay for an upgrade.

    good luck

    have a great cruise

Right now the cheapest suite is ~$2200 pp. Highly doubt they would come down enough for me to upgrade considering what I paid for the oceanview. I'd rather spend my money elsewhere since I don't plan on being in the room other than to sleep and shower. From what I counted when I checked today, there are about 8 or so rooms left on the website for booking. 2 of those are suites and the rest are inside cabins.

Besides just feeling eager to know, it really is no big deal. :D

  6. I booked two state rooms a few weeks back. One inside guarantee (assigned about a week or two later), and a ocean view guarantee (still pending). I checked the website today and the only cabins showing available are for suites and interior. I'm assuming Carnival possibly still has oceanview inventory, but seems it would be not in their favor to have inventory blocked from online booking. What has been your experience with booking guarantees? How often have you not known what your stateroom up until the cruise? Any problems with it? Have you had better assignments with really quick assignments or delayed assignments? I, of course, will be happy with any ocean room or above. That is why I booked it. Just looking for other's experiences as I get more and more excited for our upcoming vacation.

  7. I know Nachi Cocom needs to be purchased in advance, but are all the other day pass options available to purchase after arriving in Cozumel?

So far these are the ones that I will be choosing between:

chankanaab, mr. sanchos (pay as you go), paradise beach, and playa mia.

Feel free to add to the list if there are other similar places that you would recommend I look up.

  8. It could have been so much worse. I have stayed in that room on a different ship. You wont have any noise from above or below. You won't hear the elevator. The layout of the room gives for a more spacious feel. Hubby and I choose to keep the beds in a twin configuration to further open up the floor space. The only thing you will hear is from the steward closet. Sometime they start their day a little early sea days for my taste. Ask nice and they will keep it down.

Remember it could have been under the galley with noise all night long.

Have a great cruise and thanks for sharing your guarantee result.

awesome, thanks. I was worried about the elevator but now seems like a non issue.

  9. Don't think it's that bad of a location. We have stayed in one of the interior sideways rooms before near elevator and had no issues with noise at all. We actually like the different layout of the room and it was more spacious than the typical interior cabin. And as far as floors you are above the prime steakhouse which should shut down well before bedtime so shouldn't interfere with sleep. Enjoy and hope it works out for you!

Thanks for letting me know about the elevators. Hopefully we will have the same experience. When I first looked at the deck below I thought it was above the piano bar. Above the steakhouse is much better.

For anyone who wants to know, I will take note and mention it in my review if being next to the elevator is bothersome.

Even a noisy stateroom is still a stateroom. 24 days to go!
