  1. There is a seal tab thing on these. You can tell if they've been opened.

that is true, I can see security untwisting each cap to check though. They shook every water battle we brought on before the bottle ban. Sometimes they seem to be on a crusade to thwart smugglers and other times anything goes

  2. If the coconut water has the screw top for pouring/drinking from I would think Carnival would not allow those, as they are really just a wax coated paper bottle. I would think Carnival's idea of a carton would be something with a sealed opening like a carton of milk or those juice drinks where you poke a straw through the foil that can't be resealed

  3. We just got off the Splendor last month, and had a good time. I know it is an older ship, but we really didn't see anything that looked bad on the ship.

    Older ship?

Except for the three dream class ships the Splendor is the newest in Carnivals fleet at 7 years old. Fantasy class, now we are talking older!

  4. Who said I am desperate for a free drink or drinks? I simply find it offensive to dis-invite someone to a party. To me, Carnival made it loud and clear how much they value my repeat business.

Kind of hard to be dis-invited to something you were not invited to. You may have gotten invites in the past, but the past is just that the past, no guarantee of the future. Only death and taxes has that angle covered.

Loyalty programs change to suit the needs of the business, look no further than what the airlines have done with their programs.

This is not the first nor will it be he last evolution of the VIFP program and I for one shall enjoy my cruises for the great vacation they are regardless of how Carnival's loyalty program is being run.

  5. It sounds like Carnival needs a new person in charge of itineraries. It makes no sense to put 2 ships in the same port doing the same itineraries. It is the same problem in Galveston. When the Freedom comes she will be doing the same itineraries as the Magic. I love sailing out of Galvesto but I will be sailing out of Port Canaveral in April just to go to new places!

It make perfect sense., the routes are less than 400 miles round trip and the sea day the ship just floats, killing time. This has to be the most profitable route for Carnival, very little fuel used and huge bar revenue.yhey could give the cabins away and still make good money,

That being said, I do miss the old Elation 5 day Cabo/ Ensenada runs. The 3/4 day cruises are too short to get in the cruise mood. Your barely on board and it seems like it's time to disembark

  6. We have done YTD since it came out. I hated getting corralled with a group of people I don't know and don't want to know. We have had excellent waiter with YTD. Love the freedom to eat when we want to and change wait staff if he mood strikes us. After doing YTD I would never go back to traditional dining and would opt for the Lido buffet if forced into it.

  7. Does anyone know if they still have the cold fruit soups? I love those and would hate to see those go away.

Just got off the Imagination Saturday and they did have the cold fruit soups. I liked the flatbread apps also, different each night

They had changed the physical menus since our cruise on the Imagination at the beginning of December. Gone were the awkward giant menu board and in its place a tri-fold menu

  8. On our trip to Australia on the Ledgend, Carnival kept our passports and we did not get them back until the 2nd to last day of the 23 day cruise. We got them back as we were processed on board by Australian Customs officers who boarded the ship in New Calidonia. We had our DL also so it was not an issue, but advance notice would have been nice on Carnival's part.

  9. They used to advertise the comfort beds in the cabin with contact information on how you could buy them. I am guessing Carnival had a deal with the comfort bed people that gave Carnival a good deal on the beds in exchange for the advertisement in the cabins. The contract most likely expired and Carnival did not want to have to pay full price for the beds and opted for something cheaper.

I remember how great the comfort beds were compared to the rock we slept on for 3 weeks on our last cruises to Sydney.

  10. 17 foot seas are not that big for a cruise ship. Back in 2011 on the Pride we ran into a storm that had the swells completely covering the window in our ocean view Rivera deck cabin. When the ship crested a wave the water was shooting up over the bridge. The Captain had to slow the ship down to 10 knots to keep the movement manageable. The atrium elevators were shut down and the comedy club got flooded.

We loved the experience, a cruise is what YOU make of it.

  11. Did this cruise on the Splendor back in Jan of 2013 and are booked for the Oct 2015 cruise also. The weather is a bit cool the first and last couple of days. We had overcast skies most of the trip, but weather is always a crap shoot.

On Maui we booked a helicopter tour trough Air Maui. We purchased this through Costco.com. It was an awesome tour of Maui and over to Molokai and back.

Think we will book a Kaui Helicopter tour this year as the last time the ship did an overnight on Oahu and skipped Kaui.

A great cruise hat goes from 4 relaxing sea days to 5 busy port days and 4 more relaxing sea days to unwind before visitng that exotic foreign port of Ensenada!

  12. HA! Nope. MALCOLM BURN!

I will second that opinion. Spent 15 days on the Splendor to Hawaii last year and found Malcolm the worst CD we had sailed with in ten cruises. The rest of the entertainment staff were wonderful, but Malcolm rubbed us the wrong way
