  1. We just came off the Pearl back in June and had great concierge service with added/changing dining reservations. The problem we did have was the concierge cancelled dining reservations twice on us. I think he had us confused with other guests. Thank God for the app. After it happened the first time, as we were checking in... and we were told our reservation had been cancelled by your concierge two days ago... I started checking and it happened again - but I caught the second time early. We were turned away the first time it happened, we were not pleased!

So, keep an eye on your future reservations!

Will the specialty restaurants and shows still have availability w9hen we board or is there a way to do it now.  Our sail date is Oct 20.  Love those food pictures!

The online booking for the specialty restaurants and shows are most likely sold out at this point. But, you shouldn't have any problems booking what you want - I would do it in the Haven as soon as you can (first afternoon).

The online booking process doesn't book 100% of availability - there is always room to book on the ship... but those dates and times will sell out quick.

Have a great cruise! The Haven is wonderful!

  3. HHHHHEEEEELLLLLLLLLLOOOOO prwardi: Don't know if they replaced the sponge on the craps table, however, don't roll the dice high and have them bounce earlier. The sponge will keep the dice going toward the end of the table.

Hi, thanks for responding... you would assume the sponge would keep the dice moving towards the end of the table - but it doesn't. Causes the dice to bounce high and off the table.

I am not saying I have a perfect roll, but I have been working on it for 30+ years. I toss 6-8 inches from the wall (with a very light, low toss). Once bounce, hit the wall and drop in an attempt to reduce the dice from randomizing (if this makes sense).

I had to adjust my roll to keep it on the table. It was crazy, everyone tossed dice off. Not just one, but both! Dealers were pretty frustrated as well. It got so I would toss and attempt to hit the base of the wall and have them be bouncing back before hitting the sponge.

Anyone been on the Dawn lately and played craps?

    Thanks

  4. I was on the Dawn last summer after the refurbishing. The craps table felt had been replaced with what I can only call a sponge. I have a nice light role, which I could not keep on the table (no one could). If you drop a die two feet off the table it would bounce back into your hand.

We are going on the Dawn in two weeks. Anyone know if this felt has been replaced or has it been worn in?

    Thanks

  5. i dont know if this would be a BA specific question, but say you did a 915 normal disembark. i'm assuming you are behind the same looong line as the people that lined up at 6 am to self assist

    is this correct?

also how strict are they with tags. if you have a 10:00 one and are in line and somehow get there at 915, will they not let you leave?

They will let you leave... but you luggage will not be out on the floor to pickup until your color is called. So, leaving early - before your color tag is called, will cause a problem. You will be in the way of others trying to find their luggage.

  6. Yes, there's a 1 hour time zone difference with BDA on ADT. Her scheduled sail time was 5:30 PM ship/local time (4:30 PM EDT) and was watched it live on Dockyard's live webcam.

It left about 10 minutes late as if it was waiting, dock workers were standing by on time to release the ropes that secured her to the berth. I'm sure others were watching as well, the smaller gangway (starboard, midship was still down) and saw 2 crew dressed in white coming off the gangway, can't tell for sure if they're taking items off the ship (passports & luggage ???) - with some pax on the promenade looking over ... maybe somebody missing & not unaccounted for, about to be enrolled to the infamous "Pier Runners Club"

Within 2 or 3 minutes, they all returned to the ship via the gangway (not the wide/regular one used by pax to go ashore) and then began to pull it up, then, the door was closed about 4:35 PM. In the next minute, the dock workers started moving & once the ropes got released with the slacks ... those on the ship began rewinding and by 7:40 PM, ship was moving sideway, thrusters working & started going in reverse at a slip angle - off she go, destination Boston. Dockyard's live cam pan around for a little bit and didn't see anyone running after the ship or chasing ... hopefully, everyone that came with the Dawn was onboard & didn't miss the sailing.

Marine forecast indicating slight to moderate seas outside the reefs of just 2' to 4' - further out into the Atlantic >>> Oceanweather maps suggesting seas of 6' to 10' & nothing higher than 12' to 15' at most - it's a good crossing for most.

Have a smooth & safe ride back to Boston & that new coat of exterior paint is looking great too

Thanks for the update... now if I can just make it through the next two days! :D

  7. Hi! We've rented two large cabanas for our upcoming Sky cruise in June. I understand that there are attendants to bring drinks, but do they also bring food from the buffet? We also intend on ordering food from the cabana menu, but we'll have small kids with us and want to make sure they're taken care of, as well. Also, how far are the restrooms from the cabanas?

The cabanas are the best part of our cruise. Some are closer to the rest rooms than others. Go to the excursion desk as soon as you can, we were able to select our cabana last year.
