  1. We are currently on insignia’s world cruise 2023. We have finished over 6 weeks and, as yet, have not had a single Oceania paid shuttle in any port.

Could someone kindly confirm that they have had Oceania paid shuttles recently (not port shuttles to the gate or city provided shuttles to a town center or shopping area)  in a port.

For us, this is a vital part of a world cruise for passengers who either have already seen the port, don’t wish an excursion or are mobility challenged. We are very disappointed to not have shuttles which have always been a selling point of Oceania.

Please note that the list above does not differentiate between Ocean paid shuttles vs city/port operated shuttles.

    thank you!!

  2. I am lactose intolerant, as well, but prefer lactose free real milk. Many varieties are in supermarkets, such as skim, 2% and regular. At the moment we are in France and they have UHC lactose free milk which doesn’t require refrigeration. We are bringing some to our HAL cruise on Monday. Then I can take a small bottle while cafe hopping on shore.

If you ask Viking in advance, they will supply what you need. On shore, some countries do have lactose free Milk, most do not offer any in Cafes or restaurants.

Why use but milks, when regular milk comes lactose free? I also carry lactose pills from Costco.

  3. Ok, from the responses it appears I am simply unaware of the rules which have been in existence for quite some time. I accept that, and thank you (most of you) for your polite responses.

We did have a previous cruise which was handled differently (I do not know why) by Mariner, which is why I thought this was a new policy.

Msmayor, I would be delighted to use a casino rate on a future cruise. Could you possible give a range of your contribution (not trying to be nosy and too specific). Do you have to contact any one specifically in Hal to find out your discount or what offers are available?

  4. We are 4* Mariners who recently came off the Zandaam ( which was excellent -a very well run ship) to Britain and Baltic. We had accepted a paid upgrade to a Signature Suite.

When I got home I checked our Mariner status, which was missing the suite double points. It turns out that we do not receive double point credit for the Suite since we took it as a paid upgrade.

Not only that, but the recent HAL nickel and dime-ing (I could rattle off a list of new 'changes' since Jan that head office bean-counters have implemented to squeeze passengers for more $) also was applied to our casino spend for Mariner onboard spend. Even though the casino spend goes directly to the bottom line profit margin of HAL, we were refused Mariner spend credit for those funds.

I don't think HAL should punish loyal passengers who spend more to upgrade to a suite or 'donate' to the casino.

  5. Thank you all for your info. We're planning (18 mos ahead!) on ordering felt hangars from Amazon (they're thin) and have them shipped directly to the ship. Also buying pop up hampers, perhaps for shoes/et all, for the floor of the closet.

We've cruised for 90 days already, and know that we're going to be squeezed for hangar space.

  6. There doesn't seem to be A roll call yet for the Vikings Sun world cruise in December 2017 but in the meantime I have a question on the closet space on the Viking ocean ships.

Looking at the pictures and floorplans the closet seems to be extremely small, especially for a 141 day cruise.

Could someone please comment on the size of the closets as this is one aspect of the beautiful cruise that worries me.

PS we will have a penthouse for veranda, if that makes a difference.

  7. I received the offer on my Optima Platimum, and just called HAL to buy beverage cards (it's a very long cruise and, no doubt, a thirsty one).

For those of you who received emails from AMEX confirming your credit, how long did it take?

FYI, the offer showed up on a credit card I never use.

    Thx for the great info.

  8. We are longtime Seabourn cruisers but we are stumped on this one. We've been assigned a V6 cabin on the pool deck, deck 8, just inside from the Sky Bar. Great if we were sunbathers, which we are not. But our big concern is that our cabin wall is adjoins the patio grill galley, which could mean it will be very noisy at times.

This is a big worry because it is a long cruise from Barcelona to Cape Town, 39 days. I also seem to recall that the interior corridor leading from the sky bar can be very smoky.

Has anyone stayed in this cabin and can comment? i've seen many posts referring to the noise from the pool deck heard from the cabins below on deck seven but nothing about any noise on deck eight.

We would really appreciate your feedback.
