  1. First of all, Welcome to Cruise Critic.

That suite is right below the pool deck and in a great location on the ship. There is a partition that separates the elevators from the staterooms/suites, so you won't hear any noise from there.

We stayed next door in AQ cabin 2150. We heard occasional chairs scraping on the deck in the evening when they were putting them up, and one night there was a pool party, and you could hear noise/music from the pool deck on that night even with the stateroom balcony doors closed.

The nice thing about the suite is it used to be an Aqua Class Suite before they converted it to an S1. It has the wonderful Aqua Class shower panel that you will thoroughly enjoy.

If you are going to purchase a specialty restaurant package, I might suggest you wait until you get on board. I've heard only great reviews of the Suite restaurant, Luminae.

We've had dinner in specialty restaurants Lawn Club, Murano, and Tuscan Grill. All are excellent in their own way, Lawn Club being the most casual atmosphere.

You mentioned you stayed in Celebrity Reflection room 2150. Do you remember if the sitting area is next to the balcony, which means the bed would be closest to the bathroom.

    Thanks

    Betty

  2. One of the biggest waste of $$$ and hassles is staying overnight before your cruise out of Florida.

Anybody think I should be worried? Flying SWA out of Arizona 4/7 direct to Orlando landing @12:20pm, Epic departs @5pm Same Day.

Not too worried or should I be??

Miss the ship you are screwed. Get yourself to next port. And have you watched any news where airlines have computer issues. Spend all that money for a great cruise and you can’t spend one night in a hotel. [emoji33][emoji41][emoji907]

  3. Do you happen to remember which excursion this was? It sounds amazing and we would like to look into it

Through Princess we did the tour to the rum distillery and St. Pierre. On the way stopped at an old church and went through the rain forest. It was very interesting to see the country side and experience the history of the volcano that destroyed the town of St. Pierre. My husband who is a beach only guy really enjoyed the tour.

  4. Gosh no, he was captain on the Freedom when Freedom came to PC. We all adored him! So funny seeing him ride around on his "motorcycle".

Miss him and the Freedom...but happy to see Mariner coming back home to PC! Mariner was our very first RCI cruise. Looking forward to booking with her again!

We also loved the "toot fest" Captain Johnny always did on the ship's horns with the neighboring ships before we left port. The best one was with the Disney ship. So funny! :D

Going on Allure next September. Would be nice if Captain Johnny moved to her. [emoji41]

  5. I am talking about that long security line inside the port terminal before they let you onto the pier. Not the line waiting at the ship.

In that case...unless you are on an RCI tour....you betcha they can, and will leave you behind if you are no where to be seen. Have seen it happen many times.

Oh I see. Thought you meant to get on the ship.

Been cruising for 27 years very well aware that you can be left behind.

  6. Normally I would find something to do in that hour, we always find something interesting to do in Nassau.

Problem will be anyone that does get off for that brief time will ALL be trying to get back on the ship at the end of the hour. I don't even want to think of the back up standing in line on that one!!:o:o

At least the ship won’t leave without you. [emoji33][emoji56]

  7. We're cruising with a group of 20+ friends and family. If we buy one package and take lots of group photos, will they be included in the package? Do we get to choose which ones to include?

I did that with our sons. I bought the package and if they were in it they printed extra copies. I would pick them all up and give to the kids. That was RCCL.

  8. We're taking our next cruise aboard the Grand Princess in December. Does anyone know of a code where they have the photo package for $99 vs. $199? I can't seem to find it anywhere and having done this on the Alaskan cruise, we'd like to do it again for Mexico.

    Thanks in Advance

There is no code and usually not a lot of advertisement on this. I found out through the Princess roll call I belong to. Someone gave us a heads up. I got the $199 package for $99.00 You just have to keep checking the Onboard Reservations section of your booking for any pre-cruise sales under photography. I got mine in January of this year for our October, 2017 cruise.

  9. Thank you everyone! Now I am torn, because I really would like to book my excursions in advance, but if I want to use my Visa rewards, I shouldn't book in advance... I worry that the excursions I want, wont be available when we board the ship.

You can also use the OBC to pay for speciality dining, purchases in any of the shops, any alcohol beverages or soda, unless you have the free All Inclusive Beverage Package they have been offering.

  10. You may want to hold off for a bit. The OBC is nonrefundable should you cancel your cruise. I never apply mine until after final payment.

That is with the Barclay card.

Ditto. Hold off until final payment. You do have to use a date during the cruise so I always use the boarding date. A notice will be delivered to your cabin or you can print out a statement showing that you received your OBC.

  11. Thursday, August17

All aboard! We left our hotel around 10:30 and made it to the pier around 11. Checking in was a breeze. Within 15 minutes we were sitting in the Elite lounge. They had a nice table with small pastries and coffee, tea, orange juice and water available while we waited. It took about a half an hour before they started letting us in. When we arrived, about two dozen passengers were in the lounge. Another two dozen showed up during that half hour. Security screening came right before boarding. They did not even mention our bottles of wine. DH had one in his backpack and I had the other in mine. Perhaps they do if one person is carrying more than one bottle.

They were making announcements in the terminal that rooms were not ready, but we went ahead directly to our cabin on the Lido Deck. It’s a spacious inside cabin compared to the tiny outside one we had on our last cruise on the Caribbean Princess (P201). I’ll be using the stairs for the whole cruise. DH is taking the elevator. We went down to the Coral Dining Room for lunch. The menu has shrunk. There were two appetizer choices (smoked salmon with crayfish salad andfettuccini alfredo), two entrée choices (trout amandine and slices of beef tenderloin), although the fettuccini could be ordered as a main course as well, and one dessert (chocolate-hazelnut soufflé). We both had the salmon and trout for our appetizers and main courses. DH ordered the soufflé and I ordered a fruit plate. Our waitress said she would have to check to see if it was available, and it was.

Our luggage was waiting for us after lunch. We have about two hours until muster drill.

Here is a list of the ship’s officers: Mario Ciruzzi, captain; Peter Hollinson, hotel general manager; Marahscalh Stanton, entertainment director; Michael Reitano, cruise director; Cara Winter, food and beverage manager; Thomas Ulrich, executive chef; and Angelo Balbiani, maître d’. I’ve left off some of the ones listed in the Patter such as engineering officers. Let me know if there’s a particular person/position.

Entertainment this cruise includes: guitar comic Chas Burnett; instrumentalist Ian Cooper; jugglerSteven Ragatz; vocalist Paul Baker; vocalist Celena Bridge; tribute act “Beatles Celebration”; production shows “Piano Man,” “Broadway Ballroom,” “Bravo,” and “Born to Be Wild”; Dublin folkloric show “Gaels Afloat”; Greenock folkloric show “The Music Scotland Show.” MUTS movies: “Arrival,” “Beauty and the Beast,” “The Founder,” “A Dog’s Purpose,” “Ghost in a Shell,” “Kong: Skull Island,” “The Great Wall,” “The Zookeeper’s Wife,” “Going in Style,” and “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2.”

DH is walking OK. Buckingham Palace was not too much since it was a relaxed pace. I've been typing in Word and saving as a text format, then opening in Notepad. This time I copied directly from Word. Please forgive any run-on words. I don't know why Word and Cruise Critic don't get along better. I'll go back to Notepad from now on. It has glitches, too, but doesn't try to leave out spaces.

So enjoying your posts. We are sailing on Caribbean Princess on October 7. A 14 day cruise to Southern and Eastern Caribbean.

    Betty and Chuck

  12.

If you look at Post #6 you will see a mini review of the tour we took...

Thank you for sharing your review. We did book this tour through Princess and look forward to it. Have a great day.

  13. We did a combination of all three :St. Pierre, Rain Forest, and Balata with one of the bus tours through the ship. Purple buses- can't recall name of Co.- very good guide- Yves.

Our cruise ship has a tour to Balata, Mt. Pelee (St. Pierre) and Depaz Distillery. Were you happy with the tour you went on.

    Thank you.

  14. Mostly tours, one of a garden, one of rain forest, one that goes to Mt. Pelee. That is the one I'm leaning toward. I didn't realize this is where that horrible eruption occurred...

My husband and I will be on a Princess cruise in October to Martinique. Have you found out anymore information on Mt. Pelee and the Rum Distillery? We are leaning toward this tour.

    Thank you.

    Betty
