  1. My apologies if this is mentioned elsewhere but I was unable to find anything on it.  A group of us will be sailing on the Joy in a few weeks and I can't tell what the process is for concierge suite boarding.  Is it just a priority line like platinum or is it more akin to boarding when one is sailing in the Haven?

    Thanks!

  2. FYI: The breakaway has left Cozumel and is due in Miami at 7AM Sunday.  Were I a bettin' man, I;d say the Sept 1st sailing goes as planned.  Just waiting for confirmation from NCL any minute now...

CLARIFICATION:  I just noticed the fine print on sea scanner that the update is based on itinerary.  Deck Cams appear to show the breakaway is still in Cozumel.

The spa haven, at least on escape, is 1 flight of stairs.  I'd take it over Haven rooms all day, everyday. As it's on the same level as the pool and spa.  You walk out of the door, walk up a few stairs and you are in the courtyard, it's trivial.  It's cheaper, you get the spa access, and a spa in your room. No brainer to me.

On the Getaway its 2 flights of stairs but still relatively trivial. Curious, did you use the spa a lot considering the Haven, at least on the Getaway it seems, also has a sauna/spa and two hot tubs?

    Theres Something about being inside.

That was kind of my thinking too.  Plus I've only sailed in the Haven on Jewel class so I have not had the private bar and restaurant and proximity to that seems like its worth it.  Spa Haven could work since its directly 2 decks below the Haven.

    Thanks for your input!

  5. Hi gang, I have sailed inside the Haven a few times and loved it.  I am looking for people who have both sailed inside the Haven area and also sailed in a Haven suite but outside the Haven.  I am considering the Spa Haven Suite or Forward Facing Haven Suite and I was wondering if there is a drop off in service level from the Butler, etc.  Or any other general thoughts.  The aft facing Haven Suites all look great too but seems like I'd have to trek a mile to get to the Haven and would probably end up not taking full advantage. (sailing on the Getaway)

Any opinions on the topic are welcome.  Thanks in advance!

  6. My understanding is that more than just room revenue is taken into account.  Latitude status, money spent with Norwegian, etc.  There is much more to cruise revenue than the cost of a room.  Assuming that is true, someone who is platinum, cruises frequently, buys cruise next vouchers, shore excursions, photo packs, etc. is probably more likely to get an upgrade, possibly for less than a higher bid by a person who rarely cruises, goes on the cheap, etc.  Makes sense.

And OP, sorry to be blunt, but your math failure does not constitute a scam.  I read something awhile back that said cruise ships need to be at least 93% occupied just for the sailing to break even and that factors in all the revenue they make beyond just the stateroom.  So I have no issue with any company being profitable, especially when NCL keeps cranking out new ships all the time.  Although I kind of wish they would make some new Jewel class ships, the Jewel being my all time favorite cruise ship...won't happen but I can dream.

  7. I don't know if they have these in Scotland or if they do, what they are called but US Banks offer something called a secured credit card meaning if you deposit $500, you have a $500 limit. So similar to reloadable cards but they are a legit credit card and a great way to build your credit if you're starting out or have bad credit.

  8. There is a difference between a hold and a charge. All merchants put holds which can restrict the use of your card. If you check into a hotel, you present a credit card for incidentals like room service, charging to your room, etc. The hotel puts a hold on a certain amount of funds to make sure you can pay. When you check out, you are charged and the hold gets removed. Most people don't notice but if you are very close to your limit, the hold could prevent you from using the card.

  9. I don't know a single cruiser that sends thier clothes to be pressed so I'm really not seeing this as a revenue source they care about. So your way off base with the "significantly reduce revenue" statement. They also ban coffee makers, hot plates and candles. If this is that big of an issue for you, bring a travel steamer. Works just as well.
