  1. I second Capt BJ on the idea of finding a local dive shop if you can. DH and I wanted snorkel goggles of our own before a South Pacific cruise.

I was able to fit into a pair that use amplification lenses. Not my exact prescription, but close enough for me to see well.

DH had disliked snorkeling as the masks supplied by tours always leaked. Turns out he has a weird facial structure, and the shop tried numerous masks on him and none sealed properly. They knew a guy with a similar structure (deep set eyes, narrow bridge of nose) and the make of mask. Ordered it for DH and he's very happy.

Were the masks $20? No. Are we both really happy with the fit and do we enjoy snorkeling more because of it? Yes. I think one mask was about $60, the other closer to $100, but they are worth it to us.

What brand of mask did you get?

  2. It's funny you called it quiet, because it definitely wasn't! In fact, there was one particular group at the bar that I could hear from the other side of Vibe over the piped in music, wind, and seas, lol! Adults are often louder than children. The quiet area was the spa. I like some action as well.

It's true there is a free area, but it's not quiet I wanted, it was a lounge chair next to my husband that we didn't have to fight for, a hot tub that was always available, and a bar without a line. We met some nice people in vibe. You see the same faces over and over, so it's easy to meet people if you want to. :)

So is it $99 pp for Vive entrance plus additional for cabana?

  4. We just came back from cruise on Quantum, booked snorkel tour with Serenity tours, Capt Cesar recommended Michael to pick us up from ship so we could do 3 hour tour from 9-12...our ship was leaving at 3... We traveled with 4 grandsons, 17-19, they really wanted to snorkel so we decided to give him a try....you will not be disappointed....Michael the driver, stayed at the dock waiting for us to return , so we didn't have to worry about missing the ships departure....we went to 3 islands , were served snacks and drinks, the Capt. Set up beach umbrella and blanket for hubby and myself while the boys explored the island before they tried snorkeling. When all the other tour boats got to the island, we were taken to the Capts favorite spot to snorkel . I highly recommend this tour if you have the time....but remember P. rico time is an hour ahead of ship time, so factor that in when planning any tours....the staff onboard Quantum were not knowledgeable about the time difference.

We are returning in June, but won't be there long enough to take our gdaughters on same tour😞
