Looked at Liverpool departures. Love some of the itineraries. Traveled from New York to Liverpool in 1962 on Cunard line Sylvania(I was 9) still remember bombed out places and the Liva Birds on top of some building. When I get dates in 2017 will be looking closer.

I have cruised many times on Holland America. Love there itineraries and smaller ships. Have cruised many areas. This time would like to try something beside the 'American' experience. Like smaller ships, don't like lots of loud announcements. Would look at any destination. Thanks

Greetings from Seattle Wa. Planning on visiting UK next year, some touring and visiting family. Thinking about UK based cruise lines for about 14-20 day round trip. I am a 63 year old will be traveling solo. Also have UK passport( duel citizen, Dad born raised in Liverpool RAF regiment WW2 veteran) Have read a lot about the 2 cruise lines. I don't need a posh experience. Any ideas would be appreciated.

First dump luggage in room. Head for library next and check out paperback exchange. At end of cruise its usually full. I bring a few that I leave behind. Most of the time I find several that I have wanted to read. Than go check out slots in casino.

Just digging through old box. Found old plastic zip around stationary holder. It was the prize I won in 1962 on the Cunard ship Sylvania. My mother, grandmother, younger sister and brother were traveling from New York to Liverpool in Jan . I was 10 at that time. Just thinking about that time brings a smile . Does anyone remember that ship? Also my parents met on Cunard ship Britanic in 1950. They were married for 49 years. Shipboard romance can last.

Have you looked at April 02 on Westerdam? Leaves from San Diego ends Seattle? It tours Hawaii and Tahiti plus 1 stop in the Cook Islands. The Cook Islands are a snorkelers dream and beautiful beaches. I would agree with others about taking a splurge and flying 1st class. I travel with elderly parent and the extra room and not having to wait in a long line to use the restrooms is worth the price alone. Was planning on doing this my self with mom, but in the past few months she has gotten more frail and have decided that its to much for her.

I agree about the inside cabins. If I was traveling with anyone else that would be fine. She wants space and a balcony.

Thanks for advise. Will now look at vista or owners suite. Since we do not have to fly the extra cost will not be an issue.

Hi all; I am thinking of 12 day Seattle round trip to Alaska in June 16. Will be traveling with elderly mother(87) She is healthy but a little frail, she uses a walker. Looking at Penthouse suite. Cannot tell by picture if it has Separate shower stall. We have usually traveled on Holland, but most of the ships we have sailed have very high sided tubs. Very awkward for her to manage. Will we be a good fit? We live in Seattle. Thanks for any and all thoughts.:)

When doing Amazon cruise on Veendam in Sept. 2006 a lady had 2 service dachshunds with her. They were for her son but he was not on cruise! They did not seem to cause any trouble. Wonder how much they were helping from such a distance.

Have done table for 2 for past several cruises. We have always been able to make reseverations for 3 days. Each day you will recieve conformation card. If we enjoyed waiter we would request a table at Waiter X's station. Did not always get same table but was is same area. We usually give a little extra at end of cruise so it's nice to have the the people that made your meal special get a little extra. Also my mother likes hot tea in pot and from 2nd day on it was always ready for her. oOf course we leave auto fee on. Happy sailing! :

What a great help all of you are! We always use travel insurance. Ireally like the idea of booking a cabin for 1 now and if mom is able adding her to avoid the pricey insurance( I never thought of dong it that way) She loves the neptune suites. But she will have to settle for a balcony. No way do I want to pay 200% for Neptune suite. Thanks again
