  1. Hi Marian: Am really looking forward to your review of the upcoming cruise on the Quest. We will be doing a B2B in April --- our first with Azamara and to Italy. Husband has walking issues and so far the shore excursions offered for most ports are "strenuous" -- hope the company adds more for slow people.

We live south of you -- Hamburg -- small world !!

Any suggestions on what NOT to miss would be appreciated. Thanks.

  2. When booking in the US ---It is my understanding when booking a "guarantee category" -- once you are assigned a specific cabin --- you MAY be able to refuse it but in doing so -- there are no guarantees you will be happy with the new one (staying within the same price category) !!! I also believe you can only make this request to change ONCE.

  3. Just returned from our Hawaii/Tahiti 30 day R/T from San Diego. The price was $ 800 per couple or $ 40 pp per day --- way too expensive for warm water, IMO. HAL should rethink their pricing especially on the longer cruises --- weekly pkgs. would be much more attractive and easier to sell. --- By the way --- only saw 1 or 2 using it at any given time --- usually empty --- what a waste, IMO.

  4. Excuse me ---- but WHY would you pick an anniversary cruise with literally 100's of kids running around ??? You may love the Disney cruises you have done but there are other very nice cruise lines to try --- we love Celebrity for the food and the Thaalosomy pool (spelling) is AMAZING and free. Love all the different stuff to do on RCCL but not crazy about the nickel/diming on the Oasis and Allure. Princess's food was great but we didn't care for the VERY alouff reception by officiers/crew. With HAL you can bring as much wine on board you wish --- although you probably will be among the younger age group.

How about Bermuda -- Panama Canal -- New England in the Fall --- even different parts of the Caribbean you have not visited before ? Whether you enjoy the port days or just stay onboard for the peace and quiet is entirely your choice.

As you love the spa so much --- choose days the ship is in port to take advantage of "specials".

Whatever you decide --- Happy Anniversary !

  5. Does anybody have space for 2 for the snorkeling, motu & 4x4 excursion with Patrick on Bora Bora on October 22, 2012. Hubby and I will be there on the westerdam.

Come join our Roll Call ---- I think we just "talked" about the Snorkel/Lagoon lunch ???

    "Westerdam --- Hawaii/Tahiti - Sept. 29, 30 and Oct. 4" --- Thanks.

  6. Thank You !!!!!!!! I had posted my ??? several days ago and was about to give up any hope of comments !! I have found one online company (http://www.summiteasy.com) that will ship the Tzora scooters FREE --- but I will need to pay the return shipping if it doesn't work out for DH. They also sell "reconditioned" scooters.

Thank you for your comments about the Travelscoot --- my DH is about 280 # but after his spinal surgery --- tends to be a little off balance at times, especially when standing up --- I think the Tzora scooters would be safer and more stable to use. Also, great info about the seat --- I know that would be very important to him.

  7. We have a small roll call, only 14 people so far. But we do have 6 booked to do Patrick's 4x4 plus motu and snorkelling. Obviously we would like 2 more to take the price from $270 to $219!

I am sure you will have many more interested as you get closer to departure. We put our deposit down almost a year ago for this cruise and the Roll call was very quiet until after the New Year.

Patrick and Maeva (his office mgr.) are very easy to work with and reply very quickly to my messages.

If I could make a suggestion: Reserve all 36 seats for the snorkel/lagoon lunch as I am sure you will have no problem getting folks to sign up. No advance deposit/payment is required so it's just a matter of keeping some lists.

Not sure if you are doing an overnite there --- currently I have ALL seats reserved for the 4 x 4 tours and the snorkel/lagoon lunch for the 2 days the Westerdam is there. I will let Maeva know closer to our departure re: any unsold seats.

  8. I have checked various posts with photos of 6166 on the Westerdam and there are no closets in the bedroom area (it is a blank wall). This was the complaint of two different posters. They said that the Westerdam 6166 was not the same as the other Vista ships, and only had two small closets in the vanity area.

As for as I can tell from photos and videos of Westerdam 6166 they are correct. Are you positive that the Westerdam is identical to the other Vista ships you have stayed in? My DW is concerned that on a 30-day cruise she and I will need clothes hanging space (maybe not out the Ying Yang . . . but plenty).

The only other aft wrap-around cabin available is 7142 and that is several thousand more dollars (an SB as compared to a SC).

Your answer will be much appreciated.

    Bob

Hi Bob--- we are on the same cruise --- please contact me regarding this cabin --- you should have my email from the Bora Bora tour with Patrick.

  9. Maohi Nui has a 4x4 option that can be combined with a snorkel tour and motu picnic as well if you want. Problem is that the rates change depending on the number of people who book on the tour, which is irritating.

You could always go the Roll Call fo your cruise and see if others are interested. We are going this coming October and Patrick's Tours are at the top of our list with several members being repeat customers. I am sure you could fill a boat or two, at least.

  10. Basically, as I have some foot problems (and had to give up wearing cute shoes some years ago) --- I take 3 pair in addition to whatever I have on my feet. Basically: beige, white, navy and black. Also, I wear my walking shoes (the heaviest/bulky) on the plane

traveling. I realize that my choices may not look the best, especially on formal nights, but comfort and safety are my first concerns. If others don't like what they see or percieve my lack of current fashion sense ---- that's their problem. We also have weight restrictions to consider as we need to fly to our departure points.

  11. I think the noise is caused from the mask slipping on your DH's face. (at least, that's the case with my husband's.) Does he sleep on his back or on his side ?? There are special pillows now to accommodate different sleeping positions. You may want to look into them. Also, his mask may need replacement. The outer seals tend to break down over time.
