  1. Thanks! I did not realise you could do that....can i ask how that works? Given that it would be more economical for me to by a solo policy to cover myself and my DD for the first, do i just buy the policy to cover those extra days at the start of the trip...so have the start date as the date we leave australia and have a end date at the end of the addional days (even though we are still on the trip?) so that the other policy can kick in?

The other alternative is using InsureandGo which has a 45 day option :)

We have just added the extra days after the 38 days from the Annual Policy, so not sure if you can do it for the beginning of the trip. My best advice would be to give Travel Insurance Direct a call. Any time I have called them they have been very helpful. If you happen to go with them under options there is a section for campaign code if you put in TIDTHANKS you get a small discount. I can also vouch for them when making a claim as two years ago when I had an accident 3 weeks short of going to the USA for two cruises and land vacation, had no hassles making the claim.

I have also looked at InsureandGo's annual policy, but for us is way to expensive (because of our age).

  2. Hopefully someone can help me with this..does anyone know whether these annual travel insurance policies cover people travelling separately? I am travelling with my DD first on another trip before our cruise and DH will join us in Singapore and we will be taking the cruise together before flying home. The PDSs does not seem to explicitly say that all people covered under the policy must travel at the same time so i am wondering if we can take out a family annual policy...or whether we need to take out 2 annual policies. Not expecting to do separate trips for the rest if the year though so apart from this trip, any others we take will be as a family  thanks.

We have Travel Insurance Direct annual policy and partners listed on the policy can travel independently and be covered. Pasted below is from their PDS.

A few words about the Annual Multi Trip plan.

›› This policy must be purchased within 30 days

before the start of your period of insurance.

›› Under a family policy, your adult travel

partner listed on your Certificate of Insurance

    may travel independently of you.

›› Dependents listed on your Certificate

of Insurance are only covered whilst

accompanying you and/or your insured travel

    partner.

  3. I'm sure that your son is elated to have you stay longer, it will be Vancouver's Indian Summer and weather should be just fabulous. San Diego, it not unlike Vancouver, as it is on the ocean with lots to see. I live in US now but Vancouver is still my home. Life as well as travel is a journey, just think of the stories you can tell, when you get back home down under. I don't drive on the wrong side of the road either when I am in the Southern Hemisphere.

We also love Vancouver have been there a few times, now we get to stay a bit longer, this has just been a little bump in the road in our plans, over it now and all is good. :)

Glad you worked it out, and you have a lucky son as well. We all hope your Panama canal cruise goes well.:D

We are only thinking positive !!!!

  4. Update, we have decided to let our DS in Vancouver have the pleasure of having Mum & Dad stay for an extra six days :D have now booked flights down to San Diego and accommodation for 3 nights, so will now have time to have a good look around that area.

We are not into driving on the wrong side of the road.

    Thanks once again.

Fingers and everything else is crossed for the ship to make it back for Panama Canal cruise.

  5. Celebrity should be picking up the tab for your flight costs to join your second cruise and the 9 day gap. Can you find an alternative cruise to fill the gap?

Hi Jill, our TA is going in to bat for us, but I'm not holding my breath on getting anything. Not able to find a cruise that will fit with our dates or location.

That's no good Merrilyn. Is there no way you can get compensation for having to find your own way from Vancouver to San Diego?

    Time will tell !!!!

    Jill

  6.

Merrilyn & David, I so enjoyed my cruises on the Mille. Are you doing the Vancouver to San Diego voyage? If so, I've got some wonderful cruise friends from the UK , Ade & Anita who are doing that sailing, and they are so much fun, and always seem to be at the Martini Bar after dinner. If your plane changes in Dallas either way on your trip going or coming, I'd be happy to rescue ya'll from the airport for a few hours.

    Kelcie

    Hi Kelcie,

Yep, we are on that cruise, so looking forward to catching up with Mari Lynne who will also be on that sailing, you never know we may meet up with your friends around the ship. We are then staying on for the Panama Canal cruise.

Sad to say wont be able to catch up this time as our flights are via LAX, our favourite airport for layovers (NOT).

    Regards,

  7. Hi Kelcie,

You can put David & I down too. :) Length of cruise at least 7 days even better it was more, well we could always do a B2B depeding on the $$$$'s. Will be fantastic to catch up with everyone again.
