  1. Seems to be a win-win! A way to go along on vacation with a senior without them running loose 100% on their own! :)

I was going to mention this at the end during my "wrap-up", but our DD did not seem to have as good a time as an 18 yr old than she did when she was 17. Even though she was still in high school, she had just turned 18, therefore making her too old to hang out in the "teen" areas like the Living Room with the other seniors she met who were still 17.

Based on her experiences, there seems to be a gap with not a lot of things available for "young adults" (18-20) to do, so she ended up splitting time between the friends she made on the cruise when they were not in the teen areas and us.

So be aware of that in regards to the 18 yr old that will be with you guys...

We are on the Allure May 7, 2017 and can hardly wait. I am so glad to have found this review!!! Thank you for taking the time to do this. We also took our son cruising when he turned 18, thinking things would be as they always were and he would make friends, etc. It was harder for him being 18 on a ship that caters more to under 18 and over 21. He wandered around with us some and met a few people but we will definitely be inviting a friend along from now on, at least until he is a little older. Although a phenomenal trip, it was not quite the experience he was hoping for. Being on a ship is great anytime but being so young and on a ship when you have no designated place for your age group changes the dynamic a bit.

  2. Hi All,

Looking so forward to our cruise next month aboard the Carnival Breeze. :) We have never sailed out of Miami and it looks like we will not have FTTF this time around unless something comes open soon.

I have two questions, how long of a trip is it from the FLL area to Miami and wondering what time we can expect to be on board. We are staying in FLL pre-cruise and have transportation with SAS. We were advised hotel pick-up with SAS starts at 11am.

I'm so bummed we will not have FTTF this time around as we have had it our last two cruises and loved everything about it.

    Thanks!

Fort Lauderdale airport to the Port of Miami is only about 30 minutes depending on traffic conditions.

Our experience at the Port of Miami is that we are usually on board by noon-ish

  3. Well I am saving my cash toward the cruise for the cruise itself. So I want to apply the cash, so I guess I wait til I get there, or can I put the money in my bank and apply it to my s&s card before hand, using debit card, or do I have to wait and do it there? Of course, since I don't make final pmt. til March, anytime after that right? All these comments have me more confused.......

We use a paypal card. We load it before we leave with the amount that we want to use onboard. You can always load more if needed and can also transfer money from it back into a bank account. The hold that the cruise line places won't be linked to your checking account that way. You only spend what you have to spend.

  4. We did Mr. Sanchos last March and it was a lot of fun. The inflatables were a hit with the kids and the swim up bar was a hit with the adults. Definitely worth the money. Will do this one again next time we are in Cozumel.

  5. But it's 5 o'clock somewhere!

    Loved the salsa bar.

I could go for a Guys Burger right now.

    Love the Toppings Bar too!

    **CONTINUED ON NEXT POST**

We will be on the Breeze for Thanksgiving this year and I am debating the drink package. Did you buy it? We are "those" people too. I buy my fair share of adult beverages while onboard so I don't feel bad for smuggling on just a bit to supplement. I am thinking that the drink package may not be a good idea for us because of having 4 ports and being off of the ship so much.

  6. I try to be very considerate of others however, if I pay the price for a balcony cabin and I want to prop my door open a tad every now and then, and that will enhance my vacation experience, then that is my prerogative. It is my room for the week and I will enjoy it. It does not sound as though anyone here is planning to prop open their door 24/7 to be malicious and stifle others from having air conditioning. If someone else props their door open whose business is it to complain about them doing that? Good grief! It is a cruise vacation for goodness sakes. Lighten up! Before anyone says it let me just say that, No I do not feel as though I deserve more comfortable of a vacation experience than anyone else because I buy balcony cabins. I do feel, however, that if I buy a balcony for a week then I will enjoy it thoroughly and if I want to prop open the door I will. I am sure those complaining never do ANYTHING that infringes upon others in any way, shape or form.

  7. Wow did you tell anyone you thought her wrist was broken? If so shocked they didnt open medical office to take a look.

Surprised they didnt do more to help her.

My daughter cut her foot last year while in the kids club on the Sunshine and required stitches. It was after clinic hours but they called the "doctor" in. We had to pay $350 for the medical care. My daughter screamed the entire time because he didn't spray lidocaine on her foot before giving the shots around the wound. Where the stich were still looks odd and has a knot under the skin. You're ex was probably better off not having been seen by medical on the ship.

  8. My OBC was compensation due to the canceled inaugural sailing out of Miami, and then and additional OBC with the revised booking. But she said, I'm still entitled.

My question really is how long does that paperwork process take. When will I see it on my cruise docs and why doesn't the site send me confirmation of my submission.

They can just say, sorry we never received any form, right?

Its only $20 so no big deal, but what if it were a larger amount - I'd be annoyed

They do take the OBC into account when figuring if you qualify for the price drop. When you add your OBC and your cruise fare together if it is less than the new price then you do not qualify. I had this issue because I did not take the OBC into account when I saw the price drop and did not understand why they were rejecting my request. Perhaps that is the issue. Regardless, you should have received an email stating whether it was approved or declined. Also, the form is a bit misleading at the bottom where you appear to have to choose whether you want OBC or cabin change. You don't have to check those boxes if you haven't paid in full. The amount would just be deducted from what you owe. Otherwise, if you are paid in full you would have to check the OBC box.

  9. Is it possible to get 2 level upgrade as part of ES? This is offered for past guest now. Would you be able to go from like 4A to 4C? There is no price changes at this time, just a free upgrade for past guests.

You can take advantage of this offer and receive an upgrade. However, if you originally took advantage of a lower deposit offer, or any other offer, when you booked it will change that offer to the new past guest offer and you will forfeit the original offer (lower deposit). Example: If it was a lower deposit offer you will have to pay the entire deposit in exchange for the upgrade. I booked our upcoming cruise with the lower deposit so it is not worth the switch to a higher stateroom category for me due to having to pay an additional $1,000 in order to get the upgrade. I hope this helps.

  10. Forgive me if this type of question has previously been asked. We are flying into Orlando on November 20 for the Breeze sailing out of Miami on November 21. It was cheaper to do that and drive to Miami. Is it better to drive down on the 20th after the plane lands at 5pm or get up at the crack of dawn on Saturday and drive, hoping there is no traffic? We will be renting a car at Orlando airport and returning it on the 21st somewhere in Miami, possibly the airport. I need to make a hotel reservation soon so I need advice from those that have experience with the traffic conditions on Saturdays around the Miami area. I like to get to the port and board the ship early so we can enjoy every last second of vacation. I don't like to get stressed sitting traffic and start vacay on a bad note. We could just get to the port around 2 and in that case we would stay in Orlando and enjoy the evening after flying. Ugh, so many decisions. HELP?! TIA

  11. We are booked in an Ocean Suite and priority embarkation is included. Is purchasing the FTTF pass worth it over and above that perk?

    Thanks!

I wouldn't think that it would be worth purchasing. The most benefit I can see is being able to embark sooner and have your stateroom ready immediately. That will already be the case for you so I wouldn't spend the $ on that. Save that for a drink of the day.

  12. Wow!!! I am totally entertained. Couldn't stop reading and now I'm even more excited for 11/21. Same itinerary and same ship. Thanks for the info, pictures, and for sharing your vacation. To your husband- God bless you for your service to our country.

We are on the Nov. 21 sailing as well. So very excited to be cruising on Thanksgiving. Have you checked out our role call yet? It's kinda quiet on there right now. I guess everybody is just not as excited as me (or you) and they're not stalking the boards. This was a fantastic review that Anewmac did. I hate for it to ever end.

  13. How do the porters know your FTTF? Do you show them boarding pass or something? And once they know do they label your bags a special way? Thanks for the help!

I had FTTF on the Sunshine and my bags were late, just like everyone else's. I thought one bag was lost it took so long for it to arrive at the room. It wasn't lost but it took until 5-6 pm for them to bring it. I don't think FTTF works very well with the luggage delivery. It seems more of a perk for other things such as having the room ready when you board, customer service inquiry priority, priority tendering and reservations. We don't have it for our upcoming Breeze cruise. I have read that there is really no need for FTTF on this trip out of Miami so if they become available I may not purchase it this time.

  14. My PVP says there will be a sale next week. Anyone wanna take a guess at what it might be??? I'm looking to book the May 8th, 2016 sailing on the Breeze. It's $450 pp for a cove balcony for my family of four in early saver. Should I book now or wait to see what the sale is?

Are you sailing out if Galveston? I was reading through the boards and several people were upset because after they booked the Breeze out of Miami they were notified, days and weeks later, that she is moving to Galveston after the May 1 sailing and replaced with the Splendor.

Also, we got a price drop on our Nov. Breeze sailing that was booked on the $99 deposit promo and we're not asked to pay the remainder.

  15. The only thing ever in our VIFP is a 2 category upgrade. It has been that same offer for months now. I check it regularly but NOTHING!!! We are ready to cruise for free just anytime they want to throw that our way. We have thrown plenty of money their way and again, NOTHING!!! Last cruise we sat next to a couple at dinner that said they always get free offers. That is when we started really watching but no free or cheap cruises for us. We will cruise anyway but it sure would be nice to have a deal like that show up.

  16. We are 2 couples traveling together, no kids. We have cruise on the Liberty before so know what the conquest will be like. But we are considering it because it would be an Eastern instead of Western like we have done twice now. While I would like to try my first cove balcony on a new class of ship, I'm not sure if we should just go with the Conquest for the new itinerary.

    Any advise?

We have been on the Conquest, prior to the renovation, and were very disappointed. As I said, prior to renovation, so I am not sure about now, but the layout was awful on the Conquest, among other things. I firmly believe that a bad day at sea is better than the best day at work but the Conquest had me wishing I had saved those vacation days. Go with the Breeze or find the new itinerary on another ship. Just my 2 cents worth.

  17. We will be sailing the Breeze in November for Thanksgiving. We have a tradition of everyone coming to our house for Thanksgiving but this year they were told to make other plans. I am very appreciative of all the comments (good and bad). I scour and almost stalk these boards when we consider booking. The only cruise ship I have been highly disappointed with was the Conquest in 2012, before her renovation. Other than that, there are little things here and there that could or should be changed, maybe are not as convenient, or just don't make sense. All in all a bad day sailing is still better than a great day at work. Thank you for all of the comments. It truly does help with our planning. I believe I will have a Guy's burger on Thanksgiving (and a chocolate melting cake)

  18. Wow oh wow! We will sailing Getaway in October and these photos I am viewing while we are having a gloomy chilly day have really got my spirits up!

Can you tell me where we would go to sign up for the Behind The Scenes Tour? Also, are children allowed? My 11 year old son would love this tour.

We will also be on the Getaway in October; the Oct 11 sailing. We are very excited and counting down the days. Just got off of the Carnival Sunshine 5 weeks ago and I am in cruise withdrawl now. We cruised the NCL Pearl a few years back and LOVED it. I am so excited about this Getaway! I think the behind the scenes tour would be so very cool as well.

  19. Well there's another one that is unclear. The person I learned about the UBP from told me she purchased it online before the cruise & was definitely charged tax, LOL. One reason I was trying to find a clear answer is because, if the drinks I get before buying the package are not included, than I think it might be a "wash" with buying the package first & paying the tax. I'm going to need a drink by the time I figure this out:confused:

We will be on the Getaway in October and I am also interested in the facts about the UBP. On Carival and RCCL the package is offered on day 1 and 2. You purchase in port on day 1 and you are charged for 7 days of the program + tax. Purchase on day 2 and you are charged for only 6 days and no tax. No drinks are taken off from the first days purchases. This is where bringing on your own wine at embarkation is helpful. This only makes sense and I hope NCL works it out this way. We have purchased it and passed on it on other cruises. Not sure we will buy it this next time but there is a possibility.

  20. Thank you everyone!!!

You can use a passport on a cruise that is a closed loop cruise even if it is expired. I have done this and the Carnival representative did not bat an eye. I had already called ahead and found this out but was leary of whether or not it was really true. We took our birth certificates just in case but did not need them. He will be fine as long as you are returning to the US. If you are traveling to Europe I would recommend having it renewed early and checking with the countries you're visiting just to make sure all is well. Amazing how it is so easy to get in and out of the US but difficult to get in and out of another country. HMMM
