  1. Except when the reservation is made through a TA, the TA owns the reservation and is considered the "customer" with whom all booking contact takes place. If RCI spoke to the TA, they fulfilled their obligation to contact the "customer."

I don't disagree with you. I know there are policies and procedures in place and RCI likely had followed them.

However, the problem came up when RCI wanted to change my reservation in order to generate revenue for another booking. How about RCI having a practice to not do this to begin with? Just because the cruise contract gives them the right to do something doesn't mean its right for the customer. Something that is legal does not necessarily mean its ethical.

Personally, while RCI comes off a bit more credible on this one, I think both RCI and the TA have some blame here.

  2. Thank you everyone for your insights.

The move was from a 3-bed stateroom to another 3-bed stateroom in the same category. The TA said RCI needed to move us so that they can accommodate another family that needed to be together. I'm all for helping another family out, just wished that the notice would have made its way to me earlier on during the change so I would have other room choices. The sailing is now completely sold out so I'm stuck with the new cabin assignment.

After talking to both RCI and the TA, I think RCI comes out a bit more credible on this one.

  3. I have a reservation with for an upcoming sailing with RCI. Several weeks after I made final payment, someone allowed a change to my reservation which took me out of the stateroom I had selected and paid for in full. I was moved to another stateroom (abiet it being in the same category) to a lower-deck on another part of the ship, all without my consent let alone notice.

This is where the finger pointing begins.

Immediately after I found out about the unauthorized change, I reached out to my TA, someone whom I have always been happy with in the past and have never let me down. The TA said he called RCI and they told him that RCI needed the room for another reservation and had to relocate me. The TA claims he never authorized the change nor was he aware of this before my call.

I reached out to RCI's executive office. They assigned someone who responded to me in a timely manner. The person claims that RCI did in fact reach out to the TA, and the TA authorized the change. They also provided an individual name which happens to be the same name of my TA representative and provided a date in which this "authority" was supposely given by the TA.

Who's telling the truth here? Does anyone know RCI's process in making changes to a stateroom on a booking that's already fully paid? No one is accepting responsibility.

Note, there is no dispute that there was a change. The question here is who gave or took on the authority to change it without notifying me? RCI or the TA?

  4. I need to use my Future Cruise Certificate from Carnival by the end of the year so I've narrowed it down to an Alaskan Cruise.

Unfortunately, the Carnival Miracle only goes to either TRACY ARMS FJORDS, or GLACIER BAY. The problem? I want to do both.

I was hoping that I could do the Tracy Arms Excursion when we dock in Juneau, but the two companies I spoke with say they are not doing it that late in September. If I did an earlier summer sailing, the ship only goes to Tracy Arms and not Glacier Bay. If I had to take one, I would do Glacier bay. But any ideas how I can squeeze in a Tracy Arms sailing into this trip??

    Thanks.
