  1. Subjective question to those that have been on the Epic and watched the two shows: Burn the Floor and Priscilla Queen of the Desert the Musical.

We have a 5yo and an 8yo. I am concerned (especially when I read about Burn the floor) that says "Sexy" show.

Are these shows child friendly. They have loved the entertainment on our other cruises, but Blue Man group is not exactly sexy - ha!.

I am looking for opinions on the appropriateness of these two shows for our family.

    Thanks in advance.

  2. Cinderella's Royal Table is the restaurant inside Cinderella's castle. Another special restaurant to consider is the "Be Our Guest" restaurant which is inside Beast's Enchanted Castle in the new Fantasyland area - it's quick service at lunch. There are 3 rooms to dine in representing rooms in Beast's castle. Each room is unique and the attention to detail will make you feel like you are in the movie. You get to choose where you want to eat. If your excursion is long enough, you may even be able to have an early dinner here as it opens at 4pm.

You will not have time for Be our guest - the lunch line is crazy long and the dinner slots fill up the day they are opened on the scheduling system.

You could set up your 3 fast passes and guarantee 3 rides. There are a few that the lines are not that long while you wait for you fast pass time. Do I think it is worth it - disney cost too much to hurry it and only get 3 rides in. I would save and save and go back in a couple of years (that is my opinion) if you are never to get back at all, then research and make sure you get the most out of your time in the park. I love all things Magic Kingdom. i am willing to answer any questions you have. my question to you is what is the anticipated arrival and departure time for your excusion?

  3. PEARL!!!!! Love those Jewel class ships. Epic is the 2nd worst ship that I have been on. The first worse was freedom of the seas - so we do like a little smaller of a ship - and I LOVE stuff to do. Good luck.

  4. I did the class on the epic. It was good. It was boot camp style meets training session. So the name total body conditioning made sense.

I refuse to pay for classes as well. I will train alone in the gym before I pay for a class. I tend to run a lot on the cruises because I love the fresh air. My mantra is "must earn pretzel sticks and ice cream"

  5. LOVED my NCL vacations, but I am seeing a theme and I am not happy about it.

Most recent experience first - I tried showing up for the "Total Body Conditioning" class that is free on the pearl. The trainer at the gym said they don't hold the class unless 3 people show up.

Why the heck not? its in the freestyle daily. I showed up, they are there and paid anyway.

Experience 2, Total body conditioning on the epic - I showed up, and they told me a time that was different than in the freestyle daily. When I brought it to their attention, on day 1 it was wrong they said, nope it’s at X time. But when it happened later in the week, and others were standing around and not just me, they scrambled and started 15min late, but still ended less than the full-time allotted.

I love the gyms they have on these ships, they are very nice, but I don't like all the pay classes. And if a class is going to be free, don't make arbitrary rules around number of participants.

Ok vent over, still LOVE my NCL vacations!!

  6. What ship are you going on? I have cruised since my youngest was 6mo. She is booked on her 7th and 8th. My son is booked on his 5th and 6th.

At 18mo there are a few things we love. Taking them to the disco during the dAy (almost always empty) and letting them run wild usually only 1 door out.

Watch the daily paper. They have family Lego time and other family stuff that are kid friendly even if they don't like Legos there are kids there and a family friendly atmosphere. . There is a 3 and under room toddler room. That is fun to burn off steam and play with new toys every day and some scheduled activities too. Get a paper from the kids club.

  7. On the jewel at the hibachi with a infant 6mo, In a high hair not at the table, not eating solids, They tried to charge kids charge for the seat. I was treated like the kid should not be there (only by the staff). I have not done the hibachi since. It was a bad experience for me all around.

  8. Called and 100% confirmed the slide is gone. This is our second time on pearl (and we were on jewel and epic) the kids are beyond disappointed.

Haven. You will have 0 trouble finding it. You will be escorted onto the ship and given a tour immediately. Then they will take you to cagneys for lunch if you room is not ready yet.

  9. So the connecting person - Talk to someone the first day you get on the cruise.

We could not put two minor children in the connector, so my husband and I had to split, one room was a Owners suite the other was a penthouse on Pearl. Leaving one of us to not have suite privileges. We be moaned the concierge a bunch the first day and got all cards converted to silver. So it is do able. I would say ask and make sure you explain that your expectations were different when you were sold the cruise. Good Luck.

  10. I am far to OCD to allow someone else to pack or unpack me. Come to think of it, I do most of the packing and unpacking for my entire family... (I can box fold like a champ!)

Should I be expecting a tip????

HA - I want my tip too for all the packing and unpacking I do! hmm, what should I tell the hubby my going rate will be.......

  11. When we stayed in Haven rooms on Pearl and Jewel we receieved a dect (sp?) phone. This was wonderful. We were called by teh kids club, we could call each other, we could annoy our butler from anywhere (mostly to put our dinner order in.)

We are in the Haven on Epic, in a 2 bedroom. Will we have one of those handy dandy phones on this ship too because of our room class?

if not, can you get one? if so how much?
