There is absolutely no additional charge for picking it up at port. Just the potential inconvenience of standing in a longer line and having embarkation delayed. The medallion comes with a standard, inexpensive lanyard that does the job if you aren't interested in anything fancy. I prefer not to wear a lanyard while on vacation - I do that at work. So I bought the bracelet and find it very convenient wearing my medallion on my wrist. However, the lanyard it comes with is perfectly fine and there is no need to spend extra for another holder unless you really prefer one - especially a wrist band or bracelet.

That is what I thought but she insisted that she had to buy something.  We have picked ours up at the port three times with no charge.  We bought some wrist medallion holders from Amazon and put ours in them when we get them.  I don't know what she was doing wrong.  Thank you.

  2. I have a question about the medallion....I was talking to a friend today who is going on the Sun shortly.  She was complaining that she had to buy a medallion holder.  I told her that it comes with a lanyard and we have our own holders and don't get charged anything when we pick it up at check-in.  She insisted that she had to buy something even though she was picking it up at check-in.  Is that correct or did she do something wrong?  We have picked ours up at the port on three cruises and didn't have to pay anything.

Have you tried to just cancel the excursion yourself via the cruise personalizer? Unless they have changed the system, you should be able to do so online.

Also, I'm a bit unclear about the money amounts that have been mentioned. It sounds as if the excursion in question was $200 a person, yet  $1100 keeps coming up. How many people were booked and was this a combination of OBC and credit card?

I have always been able to cancel and get everything put back to the original form of payment. We seem to missing a key piece of information.

I think the excursion was $200 pp and they had two people so that was the $400 credit.  I also think the $1,100 amount is probably the total for this excursion and some other ones that they booked.

We will also be there this season, so did some research, in the map below, you will find the tender dock in the yellow circle and several points of interest are on the map, with the numbers below.

The red circles are for our own use, indicating several hikes near the tender dock.

Thank you so much.  I'm happy to see that the ship will dock on the side of the harbor that has things to do.

  5. I'm so very sorry for your medical problems and hope that you will be able to cruise again in the future.

Having said that, and it sounds like your experience with customer service was horrible, I actually had a good experience yesterday.  We each bought two future cruise credits when we were on a cruise over last Christmas.  One of them is being used for a cruise next July.   Our accounts didn't show the other one so I called about it.  We went on a cruise last month and for some reason I thought we had booked it before our cruise last December when we bought the credits so I called to ask about them.  The girl was very helpful and I was wrong - we used them for our last cruise.  Anyway...she was very professional and helpful so maybe it depends on who you get.  Also...I was happy to see that I could get an answer on a Sunday.

There's no back up for cruise ships who are on a schedule and can wire the funds for transit.

A lot of ships who sit on either side of the canal are awaiting funds to transfer. We've done the full transit multiple times, and each time the day of transit expert mentions this.

    Good to know.....  thank you.

  7. This is off subject but I think this cruise is going through the Panama Canal and ending up in New York.  We are supposed to start our cruise on the 9th.  Have you gone through the canal yet and if not is there any talk of a delay?  I heard that there was a big back up getting through.  Hopefully it is only for ships that don't have reservations and I assume that Princess would have one.

  8. Thank you for answering my question.  For some reason I hadn't noticed the Air Booking Number on the confirmation from Princess EZair.  It was right there in front of me.  I went to the United website and put it in and the information came up so now I'll know what to do when the time comes.  I feel much better now.

  9. It has been several years since we have used EZ-Air and I can't remember.  We are flying on September 7th.   Will we get an e-mail before then regarding our flights?  How do we print our boarding passes?  Any help you can give would be appreciated.  How about the luggage fees?  Can we just pay for them when we get to the airport?

If you're trying to get the airport from South Station, you can:

    1. Transfer to the Silver Line #1 (SL1) bus, or

    2. Take the Metro (T) Red Line 1 stop to Downtown Crossing, change to the Orange Line 1 stop to State, then ride the Blue Line to the Airport, exit and catch an 88 or 33 bus to Logan Airport.  (Obviously it makes more sense to take Silver Line #1 to the Airport.  And no, that's not where you said you were going, but other folks may want to know).

Thank you so much....that is very helpful!!!

We also got a call today.  I told him I wanted to look at the website.  He is supposed to call back pretty soon.  I'm going to tell him we aren't interested.  Yes...he had access to all of our cruise info...how many, when the first one was, what type of cabins we booked, our upcoming cruises, etc.

He called me back a few minutes ago.  His name is Adam and he is in England.  I told him politely that it wasn't a good fit for us right now and thanked him for his call.  He thanked me too and didn't try to pressure me at all.

  13. I'm the original poster.....after thinking about this more I decided that it would make more sense to go earlier and do the sightseeing before the cruise and then come home directly afterwards.  We would only have to worry about getting one hotel.  We could get to the hotel (not near LaGuardia) at night, sightsee for two days and then go to the cruise terminal the morning of the cruise.

So I'm looking for suggestions for someplace that would be convenient for sightseeing and easy to get to the Brooklyn cruise terminal.    Someone suggested the Marriott near the Brooklyn Bridge.

Thank you all for trying to help.

  14. We'll be flying into LaGuardia arriving in the evening for a cruise out of the Brooklyn terminal the next day;   We will need someplace to stay that night. We won't be doing anything except sleeping - not going to anything.  Can you give ideas of someplace not expensive that would make sense.  We'll get some sort of transportation to the hotel and then to the pier.  Then....after the cruise we want to stay one or two nights before flying home out of LaGuardia.  Any suggestions for hotels for sightseeing that aren't real expensive????

There are three levels of preparedness for boarding.  When you get to the terminal you may see signs directing you to different color preparedness lanes. I say may because when I boarded in San Diego this week they did not have different lanes but other terminals I have sailed out of have had them.

Blue Lane-  This means you need all or some information entered into the Medallion App or Online via desktop. Blue Lane is the slowest boarding lane/ preparedness level due to data entry requirements.

Yellow Lane-  Means all or most information has been entered but some aspect requires attention or an additional screening ( this was more common when all voyages required health questionnaire and Covid testing and vaccination cards reviewed)

Green Lane - This means everything is entered into the App or online via the desktop and your Medallion is ordered.  This is the fastest level of preparedness/ boarding lane.  When you check in you will only need to show your passport, answer the health questions and either show your medallion if you have it or pick it up if you ordered it sent there.
