  1. Stacy - just wanted to give you a little props! I referred my boss to Rome in a Limo based solely on your review. Kind of risky I know, especially with your boss; but he and his wife just returned from a 10 day vacation including Heidelberg Germany, Rome Italy and Venice Italy and booked a private tour with Fabio of Rome in a Limo! They raved about the whole experience and service. I can't thank you enough - BIG POINTS FOR ME :D :D :D :D

  2. Yes, we still dress for dinner and always will! I understand the restrictions with luggage limitations, etc. And yes, we also have to dress for work every M-F - so what! Dinner is still a time that should be respected and accepted for what it is - you should be dressed appropriately for yourself and those around you! If you do not want to be appropriate because "it's your vacation" - FINE - go to the Lido buffet. PERIOD.

The MDR has linen tablecloths and you should too, at least!

  3. Thank you so very much Halos, for your sharing your thoughts and experiences. I am so looking forward to more - DH and I are booking this tour for October 2013 for our 10th wedding anniversary.

I love the comments about the crew - being Plat. ourselves, I have really missed the past couple of voyages being recognized and greeted with "welcome back Mrs. Link" -

Keep up the good work and thank you again!

Oh, can you please elaborate a little more on the music/bands? We so enjoy live music and having a dance or two. Now, I realize by the time Oct. 2013 comes around, things will have changed; but would like to know about dance bands. :D

  4. We did this 2 summers ago. It was right when Tiki beach was brand new and things were still a bit unorganized. We did not book an excursion; but took a cab directly there. $25.00pp included 2 lounge chairs and an umbrella and 2 cups of rum punch. We also had access to there nice restrooms. When we first arrived, they weren't even "open" for business yet, that day; but we were still able to get in our loungers. We had to wait about 1/2 hour for our rum punch. We then ordered a bucket of domestic beers (Bud light) - 6 pack was $40.00 (yikes) and we had to go to the bar and get it ourselves. No beach side service.

It was a nice enough day; but I think a bit overpriced. I have heard rave reviews about Royal Palms on 7 mile beach. It's cheaper and we are going to try it next time in Grand Cayman. Royal Palms has a website. Check it out!

    Have Fun!

  5. Tex Chick,

Let me know specifically what I can relay ...If it's about Blood Power, I'll let you know when I do...probably May on Magic..

Here's a thought...how do we start a thread re. cruise booking with like-minded "fun" folks. into enjoying the rock classics..:)

. ...without making it an "Official group cruise":)

    MMMike

are you thinking just a thread that will continuously stay new? And as folks get off cruises, they can report who was playing on that ship at that time? If so, I would suggest starting a thread like the "All things Dream" thread that continuously moves. Each of us could take turns "bumping it up" and keeping it current

If you mean trying to plan cruises together to travel together, according to the band playing - well, that another story and I have no idea how to start something like that.

  6. FYI, there was a guitar player that moved all over the ship. Not sure of his name, but he wore a cowboy hat and he was very good. Played a lot of Johnny Cash and other music from 60's and 70's. we stopped a few times to watch him play.

    Enjoy you cruise.

Folsom - thank for your observations. How about the cover band? Was there one, where did they play, what kind of music and did you like them?

    Thanks in advance.

  7. This is from my cruzn' friend who hangs with Bloodpower Band...

"Blood Power will get their next assignment within the next month or so. As of right now they are on vacation and do not know what ship they will be on next. They should return from vacation by early April and as soon as they know, I'll email you the ship name. Unfortunately, Joey (keyboard and lead vocals) has resigned and the guys will be replacing him with a new keyboard player..."

    Mike

Thanks so much for the info - I'll hold off booking for this summer until April. Please keep in touch and let me know what you find out - I would really like to see them and hoping they will stay with the Magic since that will probably be our choice for this summer. You can private message me here or email is crystalatdiscprodotcom.

  8. Hey Tex chick,

Enjoyed Blackjack, but we sailed the Dream 2x's last year and we're ready for a different ship...:)

    MMMike

Got it - no worries. Please know that they are getting "top dollar" for the Magic. We live within driving distance to Galveston; but have decided that we could fly to any Florida port and travel cheaper (including baggage fees) than we could going on the Magic out of Galveston. It still gets me how much more they charge out of Galveston than Florida ports that have better itineraries. Go figure!

  9. It was my understanding that the "Music" bands no longer had there contract with CCL. That info is about a year old, so I do not know the status now. I personally haven't seen any of them in quite a number of years. Blood Power, I THINK, is on the Magic currently. I will also highly recommend the BlackJack Band, currently playing on the Dream. They just recently took there vacation from mid July to mid August 2011. They should be around a while. Good Luck with your search. I'm curious myself what your results will be........

We too enjoy the cover bands and are terribly disappointed when we get on board and the cover band entertainment lacks...............
