  1. I went into again for the first time on a cruise

Dr and nurses were wonderful. I had x-rays and an ECG on board .They managed to stabilise me and I felt ok for the rest of the cruise - 3 more days.

I ended up in hospital 3 days later with aFib, RSV, asthma, diabetes and a kidney infection now controlled with several meds etc.  If it was not for the doctors on board I think that I would have died

Maybe they could do research on suggested

questions to be asked for next census. The questions are as important as the answers as Aust has changed so much in my lifetime.

I have worked for the census for the last few times.

i had to give out forms and them collect them.  Had my fair share of rude words and penis drawn on the forms.

with being in lockdown some of the questions are going to be skewed

not many of Sydneysiders went to work last week or did any volunteer work, although we do Normally

We've returned from the Breeze as well.  We played in both casinos but when we were in the "Casino Annex"  it was pretty empty.  Far from packed.  It did smell better, but lacked the excitement of the always crowded main casino.  Fewer waiters and no casino cage.  We preferred the main casino.  To each his own!

All casinos on  Cruises out of Australia are smoke free.  In fact you can not smoke inside anywhere in Australia.  If you want to smoke outside of a restaurant you have to be a certain distance away from the doorway No smoking at the entrance of offices either

Smoking announcement.  The usual outside decks and casino if you are playing at the tables and the games.  No more smoking and congregating at the bar, or my favorite, standing behind you and commenting as you play.

im sorry. I get that the casino will never be smoke free.  But it was getting out of control the smoking and disregard for those that don’t.

All cruises out of Australia the casino is smoke free

There something dodgy happening when they been refunded the money from the cruiselines and still after 8 months they haven't given it back to the passengers.

    I think the money gone.

Be interesting to hear from people who were successful at getting a refund.

I used to use this company a lot about 5 years ago. However, I wouldn't touch them with a barge pole now. I'm also very wearing about paying money for cruises many months ahead (this applies to many Cruises TA and TA's in general).

My rule of thumb is to book directly with the cruiseline or airline or hotel. Have been doing this for awhile now.

I got my money back from this company after about 5 months from cancellation

i emailed 3 times with their proforma response but the did answer personally after about 2 weeks

had to go back to them as they said I had a non refundable deposit but this was incorrect and the rest of my money was refunded.

i have now booked 4 of cruises for 2022 and 2023 but I have done this direct with the cruise line.

  6. Does anyone know what has happened to this ship

I am booked for the 18.12.20 but I can't access my booking on line and the P & O site

has no sailings for the ship until Jan 2021.

This booking was from a cancelled May booking.

I am sure that it will be cancelled again but just interested to know

Now not booking anything till we know that there will be sailings from Australia

I think the scooter is the only thing you need to bring, but if you bring a scooter you probably need an accessible cabin to get through the door.

the scooter I am looking at is a fold up portable one

i saw someone use one on a cruise in Mexico last year and have found a place that hires them in Sydney

  8. Hi All

i am travelling with my 89 year mother in Jan 2020 on the Ovation of  the Seas

She does not need an accessible cabin but needs to use a shower chair and a raised toilet seat

I can hire a portable scooter for her to use aboard ship

Does any one know can I arrange these things through the ship or do I have to bring them with me

If it is too hard to arrange she can do without by they do make her life easier

    Thanks in advance

  9. I have also used insure and go but I have travelled with my 80+ mother, paying with a Citibank credit card. They say that they have no age restrictions

Not sure about pre existing conditions

Have made claims but not for medical and had no trouble with the claim.

I have taken insure and go for my next trip with a cruise out of los angles and it was about $20 more for the pre existing conditions for my husband who was in hosp in March this year

    We are both over 60

  10. Yes - I have used Insure and GO also but as you say we don't know about claims. I am not that concerned about cost - but rather can I even get insurance before I decide to make a booking??? It seems like now I have to see if I can even get insurance before I make a booking???

  11. Luckybecky, you and I are obviously twins separated at birth! I thought I was the only crazy one who printed out confirmations of everything related to the trip and organised it by date! We were just in Croatia and Germany for 2 weeks on a family trip and I had accumulated a thick trip folder with every single confirmation from hotels to tours to transfers. We wound up not actually needing any of it, as everything was super organised, but it was great to know we had paper copies just in case.

    Me too

  12. Thank you so much for the review and all the information! We're on her at the end of Nov for the 8 day- so excited! Your pics of all the menus and price lists were much appreciated.

Do the prices for the drinks include the 15% gratuities

I am from Australia and these are automatically included in our prices

I am on Splendor in August

    thanks

  13. On the pride 2 weeks ago they had them. They were at every pool. They monitored the pool and seemed on top of it. Might not be certified lifeguards but at least there is someone watching the pool. Several times I saw them talk to kids and have them stop running around the pool and to stop jumping into the pool.

I can’t remember if it was on a carnival ship but a child drowned on a cruise ship in Australia and it was a recommendation my by the corinor at the inquest that children’s swim vests be available poolside . I have been aboard and seen the vests and have seen pool monitors standing close to the pools or in the middle of the pools if there is some kind of walkway

This was on cruise out of Australia

  14. Great Tips!

Does anyone have the Splendor Streakhouse wine menu (not cocktails) and hours? I think it is only open evenings after 5:30?

I am going on splendor in August

I am from Australia so we don’t have the 15% tipping system so I don’t know how it works

Does it mean if something is $10 we automatically get charged $15.50 or do we have to add it ourselves to the bill

If we get the cheers program do we get charged an extra 15% to each drink

    Thankyou in advance

  15. The email says you have to prepay before 2nd Jan or pay the new rates onboard. I assume future bookings with pre paid gratuities included will stay the same even though not fully paid yet. No change to the 18% gratuity on drinks etc.

All celebrity cruises departing from Australia from Jan 18 will have gratuities included in the price

I think this is because we don’t have a tipping culture and many people asked for the gratuities to be removed

  16. If you are referring to Domestic cruise insurance, then TID, Insure and Go, Covermore, Australia Post. No matter what one you decide to go with, make sure you read the PDS and only buy insurance that actually covers you for what you want and need. Note that many of these are online and if you have any pre existing conditions make sure you call them and get clarification as to coverage.

I have taken out insurance with raa and filled out the pre exciting conditions hospital admissions etc.i took out the insurance when I made the final payment and my cruise is in January but since them my husband has been in hospital

Do I need to tell them about this

  17. I have a Citibank platinum card

The travel insurance doesn’t cover domestic cover

I have claimed on it twice over the years. Both claims were paid after the usual run around for supporting documents etc.

Not sure who the underwriter is but they have covered my 86 year old mother and just paid a claim that she put for a nz trip she unfortunately could not go on at the last minute.

When she has rung them to ask if at her age she is covered and they said that they don’t take age into account.

For my next trip l am using raa travel insurance as I didn’t pay with my cc.Found all travel ins more expensive as my husband has turned 65
