  1. Was there a big price difference?

A bit. We booked almost two years in advance on the Oasis so got a really good price...maybe $500 more than YC on MSC. On Allure we had the two story cabin which was utterly fantastic and got it for about the same price as the YC but it was only a 5 night cruise so it would have been more expensive than YC in the long run. RCCL's prices for Sky Class are out of sight right now...they cannot come close to YC pricing. If you choose off--peak times to travel on Divina or Seaside you'll pay around $4,000 for two in YC. You cannot get Sky Class on Royal for under $5,000 most sailings and that would be for just a Grand Suite...certainly not anything better than that.

  2. Awesome! Good to know. I've been on the hunt for some time now for someone who has sailed both and can compare. Just curious...the two times you sailed sky class on RCI, which ships were they?

Oasis and Allure. Both beautiful ships with amazing cabins...but the lounge was nothing like Top Sail on Divina and it was so nice having free cocktails 24/7 as opposed to Happy Hour on RCCL from 5-8 with extremely limited choices. Also the Yacht Club restaurant was very superior to Coastal Kitchen in service, food, and selection. And having a butler vs just a room steward was amazing in every way!

  3. We are in the same situation. Pretty loyal to Royal but MSC was too good of an offer to pass up. We booked the Yacht Club for this July. Will be comparing to Sky Class on Royal for sure.

Having done both Sky Class on RCCL (twice) and YC on Divina (13 times), I can guarantee you that there is NO comparison between the two. Yacht Club, hand's down, is by FAR the superior product!

  4. While I don't know this for sure, I'm guessing if you're in the YC and have friends who are non-YC, you are welcome to visit them anywhere in the entire rest of the ship, including hanging out with them at the regular pools for as long as you wish. I don't think it goes the other way around for good reason. Those who have paid extra to reside in the YC, are paying a premium for space and not be crowded. That especially includes the pool area and those coveted loungers. Having "guests" use the pool and loungers defeats that entire purpose, and personally I would not be happy about it. Imagine if everyone in the YC did this? The YC would be overcrowded and certainly not worth paying extra for.

My sentiments exactly. However, as a frequent Yacht Clubber on Divina (12 times), I have brought guests up to see my cabin but did NOT take them to Top Sail or the One Pool. That is definitely not allowed. But if you are discreet and quiet, I've never had any issue bringing a couple of guests up to see my suite. I have the Royal Suite January 6 on Seaside and I do plan on bringing up some friends to see the cabin, but certainly not to avail themselves of the services of the Yacht Club itself.

  5. HI, great videos and thinking of booking YC. Do you know if children are allowed in the YC areas as if they are not there is no point us booking it?

Yes, children are allowed and most welcome. I have taken my now 4 year old in the YC on Divina 9 times...starting when he was just 6 months old. The staff in the YC absolutely dote on children. He was very well-behaved...certainly appreciated by the rest of the fine folks in the Yacht Club.

  6. Not according to the rep I booked with in UK MSC office. She told me categorically that once you're assigned a YC cabin, you will NOT be moved.

Unfortunately, this is NOT true in the US. I have been arbitrarily moved in the YC from a triple to a double with no notice whatsoever. I'm assuming this is because I went from three people sailing and had to cancel one at the last minute so MSC moved me. I was NOT happy!!

  7. The debate continues. I think it's nice to keep the tradition alive. I will be wearing a tux to dinner on formal nights. I don't mind being in the minority of the formally dressed. As long as the crew will be preparing for formal nights then I will do the same. I don't mind that others are not dressed formally as long as they make an effort to look neat. I feel that sloppy dressing on formal night is an insult to the officers and crew who are the hosts.

    100% agreed!!!

  8. We are quite happy to dress up with our tuxedo and evening dresses, but have seen in a previous cruise (MSC Splendida, October 2916, western Med) that there were not many men with tuxes or laides which dresses.

We are happy to go in MSC Divina soon, in YC Should we bring the nice stuff, or do people no longer care? Do fellow YC guests dress up to Le Muse and the show?

In my experiences (13 times in the YC on Divina) most of the YC folks do dress up for dinner on all nights, not just formal nights. By dressing up, I mean dresses or nice pantsuits for the women and Docker-type pants and a polo shirt for the men on nonformal nights. On formal nights, most of the men were in suits or nice trousers and a suitcoat and most of the women were in long dresses or sparkly tops and dress pants. We did see a couple of folks in casual clothes but not very many. This is one of the MAIN REASONS I love YC...most folks still dress up for dinner!!

  9. WRONG INFO!!

There are three YC2 cabins on deck 12 (12001/12002/12004),

I don't know, Pete. I wouldn't consider those cabins an upgrade even tho they are more money. Yes, they're bigger but no balcony and not located in the YC area! That would be a deal breaker for me but I'm sure not for everyone else. But technically, yes, you are absolutely correct.

  10. Has anyone ever been upgraded within Yacht Club?

i.e. from the lowest YC cabin category to a higher cabin category?

If you're talking about the Divina YC, there are no upgrades except the two Royal Suites and they are usually booked a year in advance. All the other YC cabins are the same cabin category. There are 8 'square' cabins but they are reserved for parties of 3. These cabins are a bit larger than the rest of the YC cabins but are still the same 'category'.

  11. Oh man..... [emoji22] I don't eat ANY seafood. That's rare for a New Englander... I'm even more scared. Lol.

Hey there, AEckhardt...I do not eat seafood either...unfortunately, it is in ABUNDANCE in Le Muse and the pool buffet. Seafood lovers do rejoice!! However, as previous posters have said, there's still plenty of landlubber food available. And yes, you absolutely can order off the MDR menu every night while dining in Le Muse. I usually mixed it up...an offering or two from the Le Muse menu and and offering or two from the MDR menu. And yes, the french onion soup is terrible!!! LOL

  12. I have been on 40+ cruises...9 of them on the Divina...with my now 4 year old. I can say that of all those cruises, Divina has the BEST kid's club on the high seas! Extremely caring, compassionate, loving, competent and well-trained staff. I feel as if they are part of my family!

  13. On my previous cruises (even Carnival), I dressed "smart casual" for dinner based on the picture provided (including a tie). I'm booked for my first MSC cruise and I don't think I'll be going "formal" (suit/jacket) for anything unless it is required.

Would slacks/dress pants, shirt & tie be "good enough" for everywhere including the Yacht Club?

Yes, but just be aware that as the original poster said, 90% of the folks will be in suits and ties and cocktail dresses/fancy pantsuits. Especially in the YC, where I think I may have seen only one man NOT in a suit and tie on formal nights. Smart casual (nice pants, button down shirt and a tie) is the norm for the other 5 nights. One of the reasons I love MSC...the dressy atmosphere at dinner.

  14. Do you think it's more common for those in the YC to dress up?

Having been in the YC on Divina ten times, it is definitely more common for those in the YC to dress up for both formal nights and non formal nights. That's one of the things I love about being in the Yacht Club...it almost seems to hearken back to the good old days of cruising where pretty much everyone dressed up for dinner. (think 1980's) And yes, my 3 year old wears a suit or tux on formal nights.

  15. Thanks for the stateroom number😊 I didn't have access to my files at the time. This cruise is going to be so much fun. Getting ready to sail on the Eurodam for two weeks the end of this month and then in March will sail on the new Koningsdam. Really need to be back on Divina sometime.

We booked Divina February 4 and May 27. Leaving on Independence of the Seas next Saturday. Just a five nighter with my boy! Come with us on Divina!

  16. Royal. Don't remember the number right now. I think it's the one on port side.

Hi cruisergal!! We have 16024 and you have 16037. You are on the port side as you thought! Can't wait to see you and your sweet husband again!
