I love your review and appreciate the time you are taking with all the pictures and details. We will be on this cruise in April and having this information is wonderful! Looking forward to your review of Breisach, and Colmar if you went. I have read that Colmar is one of the ten most picturesque towns to visit.

I am sure I will get a lot of heat for saying this, but when did cruisers become so entitled? I just posted a review on the Anthem stating that the cruise was not perfect...no cruise is. However, the way people treated the cruise employees was appalling! You could not pay me enough to work on a cruise ship dealing with these people on a daily basis.
Some CC members have remarked that they felt a lot of movement on this cruise....what ship were they on? We had the calmest seas ever! If you do not want to feel the motion, don't take a cruise! Regarding the food and service, if your food is cold, kindly send it back like you would in any restaurant. If your dessert is too small, they will be happy to bring more. If someone does not smile when they hand you a towel, so what? Who knows what that person is personally dealing with!
The food was sometimes good and other times not so good. It happens. I am sure that the waiters were apprehensive, especially after the way some cruisers treated them. After 10 days on this ship the majority of waiters were wonderful, and went out of their way to make sure we were satisfied with our meal. I witnessed a woman being really mean to her waiter after he tried everything possible to please her. She was just a nasty person.
These people depend on these jobs and most are working really hard. Please think twice before you open your mouth and start yelling at them. That could be your son or daughter, brother or sister, husband or wife trying to make a living.
This class of ship isn't for everyone. Royal has tried a whole new approach with dining, the type of shows, etc. If you don't like it, try another ship or cruise line. Do not take it out on the employees.
The old saying, "treat others like you want to be treated" should be posted on elevators on every cruise ship.
Enough said.....

If you don't have a tour planned or do not want to go to the beach, I would stay on the ship. I have a totally different opinion from the previous post. The vendors on the pier have the usual inexpensive t-shirts and jewelry, but I did not see any stores or cafes that I wanted to stop at. Definitely not a shopping destination. A tour will show you the island highlights which was IMO just okay. We were in Martinique just last week.

I love reading about your experience. Thanks for taking the time to post!

Thanks everyone for the advice. We are in port all day, so I may try a half day in each town.

We will be in St. Martin in a few weeks and would like to walk around and buy some souvenirs and maybe have lunch and a cold drink. We are not looking for beach time. Is it worth the trip to Marigot or do they pretty much have the same items for sale in Philipsburg?

Thanks for taking the time to post. We are sailing on the Reflection in February and I enjoyed reading about your time in port.

Hi,
Has anyone done the helmet dive this year? Who did you use? Opinions? Do you need to know how to swim?

We used Totally Driven just this morning. I booked them online several months ago. The driver was there when we arrived at Heathrow and he drove us to a hotel in London. I was very happy and would highly recommend them. The car was well kept and clean. The driver was personable, polite, and helpful with our luggage. He was a safe driver also. I would use them again.

:o Yes, thank you. I am just glad I didn't tell my fellow cruisers on my roll call that the port had been changed!!

I'm sorry I was confused by this website http://www.rostock-port.de/en/cruise-shipping/port-calls/2013-port-calls.html. I didn't realize that P7 referred to Warnemunde. Thank you for the clarification and for all your invaluable information!! :)

Hi Anni,
Thank you for taking the time to answer all our questions. We are on the Carnival Legend arriving in Rostock on July 30th. Apparently, Warnemunde could not accommodate all the cruise ships, so the Legend was changed. I had planned to take the train to the Schwerin castle. How far is the train station from the Rostock pier?

Hi,
I am looking at Totally Driven for a ride from London to the Dover Cruise port. The price is less expensive than some other companies that I've looked at. Has anyone used them? Are they reputable?
Thanks!
