  1. Since I will be celebrating a Very Big birthday (the reason for this cruise), I'm not planning on hiking.

Do you think the Loen sky lift is worth $58.00 per person?

Not planning to visit London again. Anything special to see or do in SouthHampton? We've done Stonehenge.

I'm aware of the official policy regarding bringing wine on board, but I've also seen posts stating that some have brought more and nothing was confiscated. Your opinion?

  2. Since this my first inside cabin, I am very concerned about amount of space (closet and drawers). How can I find that out?

Can I use magnetic hooks on all walls and doors?

Can I bring wine on board from each port?

On Masquerade and Roaring Twenties nights, does one wear costumes to dinner?

Is there any way to see the nightly entertainment in advance?

    Thank you Hattie

  3. Thank you so much kitkat for your response.

Our cruise is actually M725 leaving NY on July 6. Norway is the 2nd of 3weeks. So very exciting. We have not booked anything yet, because finances dictate that we use our OBC, but your information and suggestions will be of great value.

We do have some specific questions about QM2 if you can help.

    Once again, THANKS.

  4. Hello Monticello,

What a great cruise you have selected.

We did the same type of cruise in the past except we flew to Southampton and joined the ship there to take the Norway Fjords cruise and then did the return TA across back to NYC.

Eventually you will see the tours appear in the Personalizer for each port with a full description, difficulty levels of walking and price. Also if a tour is lengthy, it will inform you if a meal is included like we experienced. On one tour we had a great salmon with dill sauce lunch beside the waterfall next to the restaurant.

We did not see too much about trolleys and trams except in one port that escapes me at this time to sightsee a Vista View.

Please take a lot of memory space on your cameras and video recorder because I just couldn't take enough to record and show on the return. Truly stir breathing views and scenery.

One day we sailed down the Gerainger Fjord and past the Famous Waterfalls including the Seven Sisters, the Suitor and the Bridal Veil visible by ship.

Please follow the previous info posted on the Meet & Greet. We met many wonderful people thru these meetings and a good source for exchanging ideas and info. We still keep in touch with them.

One thing that you will notice is the unusual on the top of Norway, the Midnight Sun never sets but rises halfway in the sky. Took a little getting use to throwing off the body internal clock.

You will have fond memories of this cruise.

  5. Isn't Britannia Club anytime dining? Presumably you get a table that is available when you arrive each evening. I would expect everyone would want the window seats.

I thought all dining was either early or late, not anytime.is the Brittania club different from thr MDR?

  6. It was a joke about all the rigmarole at the embassy to prove people are married by bringing wedding photos and invites and things. In fact we didn't need any of that. The Consular guy just asked us the date of our anniversary and we both got it wrong!!! He thought it was 'cute' and said the fact we didn't eat mad at each proved we were married!!!

We are cruising in July and my husband will be celebrating his birthday while on board. Our 59th anniversary is in June and my Very Big Birthday is in August...that's why we're taking the cruise.

We plan to celebrate all 3. We haven't heard from our TA since we paid up, so I wouldn't count on him. Whom do you think we should notify?

  7. Yes, there is a 'fridge in all cabins.

It is small and usually full of soft drinks (like hotels, charged for if you consume them) leaving little room for anything you may have brought on board.

There is also an ice-bucket (and daily replenished ice), tongs and glasses supplied.

Talk to your steward and he/she may remove these items for storage elsewhere, or you may wish to simply empty the 'fridge and store the contents elsewhere in the cabin and replace in the fridge when you disembark (I'd still inform the cabin steward so he/she doesn't think you've drank the lot and then replenishes the 'fridge!).

Hope this helps, Bon Voyage :)

I have heard that the coffee in cabins us made from powder (instant). Is it possible

Bale to get a real coffee maker or bring one from home?

  8. I couldn't agree more about the desserts, with a very few exceptions eg the crepes suzettes. We find them bland and rather synthetic tasting, however the restaurant ice cream is excellent.

I had Wonerful soufflés and creme brûlées last time I was on the Queen and am looking forward to More

  9. Oh, dear. Why would they segregate people with special needs?

I use an oxygen concentrator when I'm active, though once I'm seated I can remove it with no trouble and tuck the small machine under my feet. I realize my portable oxygen concentrator may be the first thing someone notices about me, but I don't want it to be the last. I have no intention of discussing my supplemental O2 use--unless someone asks because they have a friend or loved one who needs extra O2 and is interested in my equipment.

Who wants to talk illness for pity's sake? I'm far more interested in art, music, history and travel.

    I too dislike "organ recitals"

  10. July6-July28 2017

Since there are 2 transatlantics, I was wondering about daytime activities.

For the fjords...will I see them from the ship, or must we book excursions? Where do I find the list of excursions?

I've read about trolleys and trams. More information?

How do I find out about Meet and Greets and other Cruise Critic activities?

Thanking you in advance for your help and patience.
