Hi

I'm going on Princess Sun leaving next Saturday from Sydney and I've completed the cruise personaliser including credit card details.

However today I've accidentally damaged my credit card I used, it still works but is bent in half and doesn't swipe very well (chip still works). Do you need to present your credit card on check in if you've already completed your booking online?

I've been on heaps of cruises but I can't for the life of me remember.

Will be a little bit embarrassing to present this card and it's not with a major bank so can't duck into a branch to get a new one. Postal card won't arrive in time before we leave next Thursday.

Any help would be great!

Thanks everyone for your feedback. Will keep an eye out in the patter for the times. We have requested traditional dining for the late seating session, which usually isn't as popular so hopefully we can secure our 2 table and seating request.

Yes

The matrie'd should have hours on the afternoon of boarding day, check the Princess Patter or just go to the DR. Also, make sure you check your cruise personlizer for your dining assignment, and make corrections if it is not what you want.

It's been a while since we have cruised with Princess (we are Platinum) and I just wanted to ask a quick question. On previous cruises on the day of boarding we were able to go to the dining room to review our seating assignment and make any special requests. There was always someone there with the seating chart to facilitate these types of things.

For instance, confirm we are in a table of 2 and also arrange to have a chair without arms placed at our table for my husband who requires no arms on his chair.

Is this still a practise or is there another way to place these types of requests?

My husbands captain circle account isn't correct online, he is missing 5 credits and I called Princess (in Australia - 13 24 88) and have been waiting for over 30minutes for someone to answer my call. I have also emailed (captainscircle@princess.com.au) to get this fixed a few weeks ago but didn't hear back. Does anyone have any ideas/recommendations on how to get this addressed?

The snorkel tip is a great one!! Save you so much money.

Vending machines would be fantastic! Stocking up in noumea is always so fun, they have so much yum stuff.

When I receive a feedback email from the Cruise line, I ways beg them to install coin operated vending machines filled with junk food.

 

If you are in Noumea (my most detested port) across the road from their OPT is a supermarket called Casinos a great place to stock up on junk food, only open till about 11:00 am Sundays.

 

I also have a digital clock (no ticking ) with a built in thermometer good for keeping tabs on the air con temp. cost $5.00 on fleabay.

 

I only cruise for the destinations, and an avid snorkeler, I bought a couple of cheap digital watches ($5.00 on fleabay) to wear while in the water, and keep my main watch dry, I've bought the watches advertised as being water proof to 30-50 metres, and amazingly they are if you do not operate the buttons underwater, I also always wear a 3/4 wet suit, and I have a prescription dive mask,

 

You can also get prescription swim googles to -10, very cheap on the net

great for in the ship pool or the beach , water slides etc.

 

If you like to snorkel , buy your own cheap mask and fin swim set from Big W or Kmart, etc, they can be up to $60.00 on board the ship, and at your last port give them to the local kids to play with.

 

Also buy reef shoes there are some very good quality shoes about at the moment for $12.00

 

We also take a small hand pump bottle of antiseptic hand washing soap $2.00

The first three cruises we went on, we had inside cabins, not even window view and we had a fabulous time. We spent a lot of time exploring the ship and up on the deck enjoying ship life. The room was only used to sleep and cleaning up.

We then got a great deal for a balcony on the next cruise, and loved it so much we can't go back now which is a real curse for us because they are just that much more expensive.

I think either way you'll have a great time, if money is tight I don't think the balcony is necessary but if you can afford it there's nothing better than eating your breakfast on the balcony as you pull into a port.

Not actually an improvement to the cabin itself but I'd like to see a lot less junk mail delivered to my room.

Maybe they could make it all electronic, and each room have a little screen where they can review new mail for the day. I think that would be fantastic!

Snacks... this might seem weird because there's so much food available on a cruise but we ave found on the odd occasion that we just want some normal snacks, especially for long cruises, like chips, lollies or chocolates. So we usually bring some with s to eat on our balcony. The ship sells this kind of stuff but it's pretty expensive and they usually have limited variety. On occasion we have bought some soft drinks onto the ship as well to keep in our room fridge. This works well when you want a drink on your balcony!

Have experienced both scenarios (hand over nice bottles of Scotch or keep walking back to your stateroom). In the situations where I had to hand it over it was always brought to my stateroom the final evening of the cruise.

 

If you're flying out of Vancouver, don't forget to put the bottle IN your luggage as you won't be able to go through security with them.

Is that the same in US airports? You're not allowed to take alcohol in your carry on luggage??

We are doing an Alaska cruise with Celebrity out of Vancouver in May and it is at the end of a 7 week vacation in the USA. We are from Australia. My husband and brother in law are into craft beer and whiskey and will likely be looking to purchase some bottles of beer/whiskey to bring home as souvenirs for themselves and friends.

I know you aren't allowed to take alcohol on board for consumption while on the cruise, but would we be able to bring these bottles on if we let Celebrity know?

I read that if you buy alcohol in port then they will keep the alcohol for you and give it to you on the last day before you disembark. Could we do the same thing with this on embarkation day?

Any advice is greatly appreciated.

If you don't pre-book the unlimited laundry, how do you organise it once on the ship?

I am booked in a Celebrity Suite for an Alaska cruise departing 1 May 2015. I just realised that the price has dropped by about $700 (for 3 passengers). I was wondering if Celebrity amends the booking to the lower price if you call them? HAL did this for another cruise when I called, but I remember last time I tried to call Celebrity there was some confusion about what I was asking and I gave up. I thought I'd ask here before I try again.

We are booked on the penthouse deck, and the rooms now available are on a lower deck would that be another reason the price is cheaper?

Apologies, I have only ever sailed with Princess before.

We aren't big adventure people which I think is why the tours aren't really appealing to us. We like to browse around at our own leisure, while still experiencing the city/culture of the place we are at. Not too much shopping, but definitely into food and drink! Hitting up a beach is something we like to do but my husband isn't big on staying at the beach all day, so even just a nice beach to walk along and eat near would be a good option.

Still sounds vague when I read it back, but I guess we are pretty relaxed and want to experience the town without having to zip line or ride a horse to do it :)

We're going to be in Puerto Vallarta and Cabo on a HAL cruise in April and none of the shore tours are really jumping out to us. I was wondering if anyone had any recommendations on things we could do or organise on our own?

We are a married couple in our early 30's from Australia. Cost is not important to us.

Any recommendations would be great. We don't really want to drive if we can avoid it.

We are booked into the Sutton Place hotel prior to an Alaskan cruise next year and I was wondering the best way to get from the Hotel to the Port. I can see on google maps that its not very far at all, about a 10 minute ride. I was thinking that a taxi would probably be the best option but I was wondering if there were big taxis or if we would need to go in two or maybe three. And if that's the case would it be better to book a transfer with a car service in an SUV?

We are 3 adult passengers, we will have potentially 3-5 large suitcases. This cruise is at the very end of a 6 weeks vacation in the US. And although we're only leaving with 3 suitcases, I can imagine we might do some shopping along the way and have many more by this stage in the vacation.

Any advice is appreciated.

We booked a private service to pick us up and take us to LAX and it was so much easier than a shared shuttle. the company we always use when in LA is Zippy Shuttle. Ken is fantastic and their prices are very reasonable. I heard about them from this forum and have used them for everything since, even when we are not cruising. Google zippy shuttle will bring up their website.

They use vans, but they are private. Not shared so whenever you're ready you are good to go. It's great

Thanks so much for these suggestions they sound like good options for us. We don't want to spend the whole day at a beach or on a tour, we kind of just like to get around on our own and see the cities and what they have to offer. Grab some food at a restaurant with a nice view, browse the shops, experience the area itself without being on a strict schedule. It sounds like it's fairly easy and cheap to get around via taxi and walking. We may just do this!

My husband and I are spending a couple of days in Miami before our cruise leaves from Fort Lauderdale. I was wondering if anyone had any recommendations of a car service that could pick us up from the Holiday Inn - Port of Miami and take us to Fort Lauderdale - Port Everglades on the day of our cruise?

I've only been able to find one myself but I don't know if they are good/reliable so would love any suggestions.
