Hope that helps, and that you are able to make it to the winery. Definitely worth the view...and the wine! :-)

Thanks a lot for the info. Looking at this now I think we will have to do an alternative day. The sunset and last tender are too close together so maybe sort it so we are descending the stairs just before sunset and take it in before getting on the tender back to ship.

Thinking instead we will go to Oia have a wander and maybe some snacks then do the walk back to Fira along the Caldera route. Work off some of the cruise extravagance!

  2. You are going to need to leave the winery right at sunset. You will have to be back on the ship by 9:30. Allow 45 minutes(at least) to get off the top of the mountain and tender, which means no later than 8:30 in town. You should seriously consider walking down the trail. It will still be light and will save you at least 30 minutes of wait time for the cable car.

According to the map that I found the winery is about a 5 minute walk from the cable car or the path, and if it is actually where Google maps shows a taxi would not even be available.

Seem to remember half jogging down the path last time I was in Santorini! Not going to chance that again. Will happily walk down it though and get a tender at 9.

Pretty much means walking back as the sun sets! Beautiful.

  3. Hello experts!

I am in Santorini for an afternoon/evening and was thinking of something to do and hopefully take in a sunset.

I saw that the Santos winery has some of the best views and was wondering whether I can do some wine and cheese tasting while taking it all in there.

The thing is our cruise ship sails at 10pm and sunset is 8.40 according to internet info. So I'm wondering what time I'd have to leave the winery to get to the tender for 9pm ish?

Guessing we'd need a taxi but is it walkable? We are fit agile folk so could get down the path from cable car quickly. Anyone experienced in cutting the tender times close to the bone on stuff like this??
