    Carnival cancelled my May 1 cruise on March 30.  Other than an email notification that it was cancelled, no communications since then.  My cruise fare was spread across my AMEX and BofA cards.

    May 21, received $543.01 refund to BofA.

    May 22, received $501.00 refund to AMEX.

    Total fare, not including things like dining and shore excursion purchases was $3701.46.

    I'm totally clueless about what logic they're using with refunds.  I guess I'll just keep adding it up as it keeps coming in and do a sanity check on the numbers a while from now.  Sounds like everyone else has had the same experience and did get a full refund eventually.

    An email explaining it would have been nice.

    Did you indicate to Carnival whether you wanted a refund or FCC? If you didn't make the choice they automatically assume FCC.

    4/1 : Canceled 4/25 cruise over the phone

    5/15 : Received cruise fare, taxes, fees and prepaid gratuities

    5/19 : Received shore excursions refund

    Still waiting on fun shop purchases.

    Just got my refund for fun shop purchases. That is my entire refund. My next cruise is on the Mardi Gras June 2021 (hopefully} and my daughter and I are very much looking forward to it.

    I haven't read this entire thread (so many pages by now) but skimmed through the first few pages, a few in the middle and the more recent pages.  My question is this - I have had two cruises (April 6 and July 6) now canceled by Carnival. The second one was a rebook for the first canceled one.  My total refund is $8,700 which includes the shore excursions.

    Anyone know how they are handling refunds if the credit card used doesn't have much of a balance left on it? I used my Carnival Master Card to purchase everything (originally booked back in October) and subsequently paid off the card several times (only used it to get the fun points).  If they process my $8,700 refund to the "original" form of payment,  It will payoff the $2,200.00 balance I have on that card and I will end up with a massive $6,000.00 CREDIT balance on the card. Anyone in a similar situation?

    The credit card company would issue you a check for the credit. That's how most credit card companies work. You might have to call them to request it since it probably isn't an automatic process.

    Cruise Date 6/7/2020 out of San Juan on Fascination

    Cancelled cruise on 4/12/2020 (the day before Carnival made the second batch of cancellations)

    Last night, 5/17/2020, refunds for shore excursions.

    I didn't specifically cancel the shore excursions first, they automatically did when I cancelled the cruise.  Still no refunds for cruise fare, taxes, or gratuities.  I really don't understand why they can refund shore excursions but not the cruise fare.  Maybe it's because the funds for shore excursions are in an escrow account to give to the excursion operators?  If that's the case, are they just holding out as long as they can to raise the cash for refunds?  Whatever, I'll pay off the rest of my new non-cruising vacation with this refund and wait impatiently like everyone else.

    Mine is the opposite. I received my refund for cruise fare, taxes and gratuities. I have not received the refund for shore excursions, internet and specialty dining.

    Received $5000+ in gift cards today via FedEx.  Pleasantly surprised that I received the refund so quickly.  I originally formally cancelled/requested refunds on April 8 for two different cruises, so the whole process only took about 35 days or so.

    Garnett

    Now I really know there's no rhyme or reason to this. I canceled my 4/25 cruise on 4/1 and have yet to get a cent. Unless the process to refund via gift card is quicker.

    Glad you got your refund.

    I just received a credit back to my credit card, today (5/7) for all my prepaid things on ship (massages and water for the room).  I cancelled on 3/30 (via website) and my sail date was 5/3.  Nothing on base fare or taxes yet.  Hopefully they won't reverse the credit like they did to someone else earlier in this thread.

    Sucks to think that I should be on my 13 day Panama Canal cruise RIGHT NOW on the Legend.  Today we would have been in Limon, Costa Rica.  Probably just leaving the ship about now to go on some type of excursion, or maybe we would have decided to stay on board today (Limon didn't have a lot of things that i liked) and just got drunk at the pool.

    This is promising. I canceled my 4/25 Panorama cruise on 4/1 and have yet to receive anything. Hopefully I'll see my shore excursions, dinners, FTTF and carnival kitchen classes refunded soon.

  7. I've had FTTF my last 3 cruises and it was absolutely worth it. We board pretty early and can go straight to the cabin to drop our stuff. I've been stopped once trying to get to my cabin but I showed him I had FTTF and he let me through. My luggage usually shows up not long after I have lunch. I've never had to tender so I can't comment on that. My FTTF experiences have all been positive. We're using it again for our upcoming Conquest cruise in August.

  8. The Guarantee grades were W, X, Y and Z

    W=suite

    X=balcony

    Y = ocean view

    Z= inside.

    So if you book a W you should get a minimum of a JS but people book them in the hope of getting a GS and the perks of the CL etc.

    With the new recategorisation that starts next April 2018, they are now seen as:

    WS= suite

    XB = balcony

    XN - neighbourhood balcony (OA class)

    YO =ocean view

    ZI= interior.

    So they have kept the WXYZ format and just added another letter!

    I'm confused. Mine says H-GTY so is it different according to ship? Or are there other guarantee codes?

  9. Thanks so much for the great review!

    We'll be sailing on the Valor from San Juan in March. I needed something during the Easter break here in NY and wanted to go on CCL again so we bit the bullet! My daughter was skeptical at first since it wasn't Disney :rolleyes: but I told her suck it up. She cheered up when I said it leaves from Puerto Rico.

    Thanks for the tip on the cornbread (yuck) and I also loooove Miami Vices! I've been addicted since 2009 and have been drinking them since.

  10. Don't forget the ever important alcohol policy. You can bring on whatever fits in your carryon. DCL doesn't confiscate liquor brought on board.

    I also agree with the OP, the staterooms are larger on DCL than on most Carnival ships.

  11. Age of the 3rd & 4th pax also determines price.

    For example:

    On the 8 night 8/25/2012 NYC for a category 5B cabin

    1st 2 pax: $2184.00 each

    3rd & 4th adult pax: $1224.00 each

    This changes to $1128.00 each for a 5 & 6 year old

    If the child is younger than 3 the price goes down to $564.

    The kids sail free promotion is a great thing. My TA emailed me when it began and was able to save me $1000 on the sailing that I was booked on.
