  1. On the Escape the "family suite" w loophole window on the 5th floor is bigger than the mini suite (balcony). On our very first NCL cruise we got upgraded (good old days) from inside sail away to the family room. It does have a bath tub instead of shower. It has more storage space, 2 large tv's and a curtain in the middle in case you want to "divide" the room. The kids loved the porthole window bc you could kind of get up in the window frame and have your own area for reading etc. In my family I'm the only one that ever enjoyed balcony :( Kids want now this family room (but its always darn expensive) and wife dreams of Haven - so we go balcony :)

  2. Hi,

Could you tell me exactly where under gifts this is located? I've looked all over and I can't find it. Only have dining, flowers, romance package, etc., but, where is the arcade pass? Thanks!

If it is available on your cruise it should be towards the end, in between "party package" and "diapers" :)

  3. I am just worried that if the arcade pass is fairly new and those photos are fairly old, then we still don't have accurate info. I hope you are right, since I am on the Escape in October!

My worry too. Change "fairly new" for "brand new", most people didn't even know about it when I called them and when I finally made the purchase today she said I was her first customer that bought this.

  4. I noticed on the website that it states "some" games can be played with the card/package.. is it a fair amount out only a few? I don't want to get the package and only be able to play a few games. ty

Ditto. Couldnt find anything about what/what's not included. On youtube theres a video from the Escape, all swipes seem to be red (only green is allowed with the card)....

  5. Agree about the Atrium, way to crowded for the more popular (and very very funny) shows.

About Cagney's I wasn't overly impressed last time. We are going on Sunday, should we maybe change Cagney's for Moderno? Anyone been on both on the GA recently?

  6. The cabana rental is probably microscopic chance to get if you have a "regular" cabin and/or non priority booking group. But IF you would get it I understand a $100 OBC is included valid ONLY at the Vibe bar. What can you order there if you have the drink package? Do they sell food/appetizers for a charge there?

  7. How early is early? We are going to try to get Vibe passes for two in our party and were thinking of arriving at 8:30 a.m.? Do you recommend earlier or later? Also, if those in our party who don't want to try for Vibe would like to sleep in, can someone in the cabin who wants Vibe check in before others in the cabin arrive? DS who will be 23 would like to get it, but DH may like to sleep in. Appreciate any input.

At least in previous years, whole cabin need to check-in together.

  8. Anyone that have used this package on the Getaway? What are the "Green colored swipes" games? Air hockey? The "Pac Man" air game? Basket hoops? Motor bikes? I can understand that games where you can "win" something is excluded but the rest is very confusing.

Saw a youtube video from Escape, there everything seemed to have a "green swipe" (including games where you "win" stuff)??? Maybe Escape dont have this package?

  9. Do you mean the family cabins on deck 5 (O1)? On Youtube search for this: Familienaußenkabine 5430 (Family Seaview Cabin) - Norwegian Bliss.

My daughter is 49 inches (10 years) is she allowed to go-cart by herself?

Is it possible to reserve/pay go-cart and laser tag before the cruise (ncl.com)?

I've only seen the laser tag videos in daylight, but I guess it looks much cooler at night. Anyone know/seen if they light the place up at night?

  10. Seriously...took my 11 year old grandson on a cruise in April. He is VERY slight...more the size of an 8 or 9 year old. Not ONCE did he have any trouble with the door...of course we had a LONG talk about being considerate and not allowing the door to slam so maybe that was the difference. ;-)

LOL, and you read him the whole contract too?

Find it hilarious that they deleted my post in this thread just because I said most of the grumpy people complaining to the OP probably had an average age of 83 and havent had any kids the last six decades.

  11. This is where I got my information from. It's on the NCL FAQ page about kids programs:

"If a 12 year old is registered for Splash Academy, it is understood that 12 year olds need special attention and programs; therefore the Dolphins Youth Counselors offer more mature games/theme nights and schedule Entourage Take-Overs allowing the Dolphins to enjoy the lounge, video games, air hockey, foosball, music videos and much more.

In addition, whether registered for Splash Academy or not, the 12 year olds are invited to attend some of the Teen Counselor hosted activities* that take place outside of the Entourage Teen Lounge.

*These activities are not part of the Dolphin drop off program and the 12 year olds can come and go as they please. Please check with the Teen Counselor for activities and time slots. The schedule may vary per ship and itinerary.

    Good find, thanks!

  12. My 11 year old was a bit too old for the Splash Academy last year, now we are going again next week. At least last summer on the Escape they didnt have any special activities for the 12 year olds. Since he is 12 now he still dont qualify for the teens club, which I understand are super strict on the ages (13-18). My 9 year old LOVED the academy and she cant wait to go again.

  13. One place mentioned a lot for good snorkeling on the itinerary is Coki beach. If you find Mitsugirly's reviews, she lists all of her destinations and her primary goal is snorkeling (with her young daughter) so that might be a good starting point for your research.

Sorry for mini thread cap but feel I have to warn people about Coki Beach

Thanks but Coki has been our only snorkeling experience in the Caribbean and it was awful. My kids got very scared of the people there, full of insects, some local people pretty much forced you to rent their chairs/umbrellas and they were completely disgusting. Hundreds (thousands?) of cruise line guests here, and this beach is very small. I too had read wonderful things about this place but it seems its only valid on weekends, when no cruiselines comes here.

Found this review on Tripadvis and its spot on (take a look at the picture they posted and you will see how crowded this place can be).

"Stay away on Mon-Thur since the crusie ship people will be everywhere. The locals are very shady in this area so lock your car and dont leave any valuables laying out. There were many drunk and high locals here all day bothering people for money. The beach is pretty nice if you can ignore the locals.

    "

  14. Thanks for the review, especially the non-cruiseline tours are very interesting. How much did the St. Johns Snorkel tour cost? Do you need to negotiate price with people on the street or is it like a fixed price stands? Was the snorkeling good, do you think it would be suitable for 9 and 12 years old?

The Cable Car tickets, do you mean by the entrance to the Cable Cars or another place?

Was The Soggy Dollar Bar beach/JvD good for snorkeling?

Going on Escape Eastern on Aug. 12 and looking desperately for good and safe snorkeling places suitable for kids.
