  1. Any update on whether or not any resorts on St. Thomas offer day passes.  I contacted Bologno resort.  They do not offer a day pass but you can eat at the restaurant there (Iggies Oasis).  And if there are any beach chairs available, you can rent them for $10 each.  Morning Star resort and the Ritz have not reopened since the hurricane, but look like they might soon.

First I have to say that I have never done either excursion so I cannot make any comment on how strenuous it is to access or depart the pirate ship or the catamaran from the pier;  I do however live near the beach portion of these excursions.  Passengers on the pirate boats do require some agility if they wish to enjoy beach time.  The pirate boats anchor a couple of hundred feet from shore.  Passengers must climb down a ladder on the side of the boat and either swim to shore or climb into a dinghy to be brought to shore.  Returning to the pirate ship is the reverse of this procedure.  For people with no mobility issue it looks like fun but definitely more strenuous than some excursions.  Catamarans can get closer to shore.  They are able to get close enough that the ladders put people into the water where it is only about 5 feet deep.  You get wet but it is possible to walk to shore.  Not sure if this is the information you are looking for but I hope it helps.  😀

Thank you.  I think we are going to skip the pirate ship this time and go with the catamaran.

  3. I was thinking about doing this excursion through Royal Caribbean.  It would be 9 people ages 5 to 83 years old.  I was wondering if anyone has done this excursion.  This description says "strenuous"  I was wondering if it really is strenuous.  would my mom 83 years old be ok on a pirate ship or should we opt for the Buck island sail and snorkel on a catamaran?  I think the kids would really enjoy the pirate ship. Or if there is another excursion that would be better.   Any thoughts? Thank you!

  4. Not sure if you'll check this again but we were just in st Lucia. We bought a day pass at bay garden resort. It was a beautiful resort. We loved it. With the pass, you get 1/2 day pass to splash island water park. Unfortunately the water was way too rough for my 12 year old niece to swim out to the water park. I am an experienced swimmer and it would have been rough for me to get to the water park and stay on. The water and waves were so high that I saw people thrown off the equipment. Stay at the resort for the day. The resort was well worth the price.

  5. How far of a driver is it to Belmont estates? We were thinking about going to a chocolate factory and thought this would be great but I think I saw it's an hour away from the port. Is that right? Is there another option closer? We have a 3 yo and 2 yo and don't want to travel too far.

  6. It's about 10-11 miles from the port. I can't remember exactly but I think it took us about 30 min. We did stop at another beach first to let other passengers off.

Thank you. We were thinking about going to Turner's Beach but I think it might be a bit far with a 3 year old and a 2 year old. I think we might consider Beach Limerz instead.

  7. We only saw a family with about 4 boys around the ages of 7,8 or 9 and they seem to be having fun. With all the rocks I would not trust my little one crawling or walking around. I did not see any snorkeling or any place that was good for snorkeling. I don't know if they have a different rate for children, they just quoted me $40pp but that was for two adults. I communicated with them through messenger on Facebook.

Thank you. I think we'll look at other beach resorts.

  8. First congrats. I was 8 weeks pregnant with an IVF baby on one of our cruises. Everything was fine except the heat really got to me a few times. So stay cool and stay hydrated.

Secondly, I also went on a cruise when I was 22 weeks pregnant (24 weeks is the cut off) with my second child (not IVF). I had to get my ob's permission with a signed consent and all. The cruise line required it. It states that you are not a "high risk" pregnancy. So if my second was an IVF baby I couldn't have gone on that cruise. IVF is considered high risk. I would discuss with your doctor.

If you don't go on a cruise, at least go on vacation somewhere and relax. You deserve it.

  9. Go with the balcony. I have a 3 year old. She's tall for age and smart. Very proficient at opening doors. There is no way she can open the balcony doors of the cruise ship if you close it right. Also agree with the first poster. You can sit on the balcony when they are sleeping.

  10. We will be in Antigua via Serenade of the Seas. We have a confirmed reservation for 12/31/15. The cost is $40pp. I contacted them originally through Facebook and finalized everything by email. I am so looking forward to spending New Year Eve at this resort.

    Merry Christmas!

We are a group of 9 people with 4 kids ages 2 - 13 years old. Is this a kid friendly resort? Also, is there snorkeling off the beach? Do you know if they have a different rate for kids? Thanks.
