As I am sailing on Vogayer of the Seas in June, having booked an owner's suite on deck 10 under the pool deck, I am going to contact RCCL to raise my concerns about possible noise problem in the middle of the night.
I understand that the cleaners have to do their job to tidy the pool deck and put the sunbeds/chairs in place. But they don't have to wait till 3-4am to do the job. The sun sets long before midnight, and no guest will lie on the sunbed or swim in the outdoor pool at night. So management should make sure that all the necessary cleaning and dragging be done before midnight, unless there is a late night pool party on that evening.
Anyway not only will I be bringing my ear plugs, I'll also bring the noise-cancelling headphone which I usually take onto planes.
We love to use the pool at night! Swimming under the stars!

I hate complainers, cruise know-it-alls, and rude pushy passengers.
On our last cruise there was an older gentleman with a walker and his wife. I would guess early 90's. People cut them off at the elevators and the wife was almost crying. She asked me to help them get on an elevator. I was ever so happy to block the pushy people so this couple could get on. Then I stood blocking the door and told her to hit the door close button. Well, all the people behind me waiting to get on were pissed at me! haha! I don't care. A little courtesy won't kill you!!!

I was on the Oceanic the summer of 1968 with my parents, brother and cousin. I was 11 yrs old, my first cruise. We sailed from NYC to Nassau and return. I remember we were in Nassau for an overnight, maybe two? Can't remember. We were on the Belvedere Deck, B69, a suite, probably Jr Suite by today's standards. No balcony, just port holes. The bathroom was two rooms, the sink and toilet in one room and a huge, deep soaker bathtub in another room. Very European! My brother and cousin were next door in a double. Our waiter's name was Frank. It was really old-time cruising when everyone did formal night. Dad, my brother, and cousin all rented tuxes. My mother and I bought gowns. So nice. The Italian crew was the best!!! When we got to Nassau, the Islanders climbed up on the ship and dove into the water. I never saw anything like it. Could you imagine diving off a cruise ship today??? Oh, the mid-night buffet was everynight. The food was incredible. I know somewhere there are photos. Very happy memories. Thank you for all who made the Oceanic a great ship!!!!!!!!!

Yes, I grew up on the beach, too. I lived just 2 houses from the beach for the first 20 yrs of my life. Now after many, many, many years in the sun I have skin cancer. I still like a drink in my hand and my toes in the sand. But I must sit in the shade. So you see, Grasshopper, shade is not bad. It lets me live.
