  1. Hi!

I read an article about being dropped off at Port of Charleston. I am being dropped off in Feb.  I do not remember where the article was but I copied this and saved it-

There are 2 gates- one for parked guests, one for guests being dropped off.

For parking guests use Gate #2 of the Union Pier Cruise Terminal (this includes Uber/Lyft drivers). This gate is located at the intersections of Laurens and Concord streets. If you are using GPS, use the address 280 Concord Street to take you to the correct location.

    Hope this helps!

  2. My husband is dropping me off at the port. Is there anything I need to know about how this will work?  I have watched some YouTube videos on arriving at Port but they haven't really addressed where drop off would happen. And they made me rather nervous because honestly it looks like a mad mess! lol

Then I read some stuff here that made me feel better; but then I am seeing some people (especially one person) just dogging the port to no end!

I am worried I will get caught out in the rain or something lugging all my luggage....IDK.    I mean....it may not rain...right?  lol

Anyway, any hints or tips?  TIA!

Definitely dinner.  But I’m not a fan of brunch because there is way too much food.  I love the atmosphere at dinner and the food.  We always order extra antipasto. It’s my favorite thing. And I rarely get an entree.  Antipasto, salad and pasta.  That’s enough for me,  we are platinum so we get it free. But i would pay for it if needed.  Also we usually take the longer cruises, 9 days or more.  So it doesn’t seem like we are giving up too much time in the MDR.

Lucky you! I can not wait until we can do longer cruises! We usually do 7 or 8 night but now that the husband is at a new location he can only take 4 or 5 nights.  We are thinking he may retire sooner than later!

I learned the hard way that on a short cruise, I have to do one or the other. We made the mistake of doing Palo brunch they morning after Palo dinner and it was just too much in a short amount of time. At least on a longer cruise, I can space it out better. But, that's just us.

I would agree with that! There is no way I could do the brunch after a dinner at Palo!   Our dinner is the first night and our brunch is the last day.  🙂

  5. I prefer the brunch over dinner....but then we usually do both.  We are on the Dream in 26 days and we have both booked. I will say though that I called Disney to check on our rotation.......that way we could book our Palo dinner during our repeat night in AP.  We love the MDR's too!

    Have fun!

  6. My feelings are that you booked guarantee and got exactly what you paid for- TBD by them cabin location. As long as it’s in the category you paid for, or above, then it’s as paid for. I’m sure at the time the agent said that there were no Cove cabins available- there weren’t. If this is your first cruise you may not understand how many cancellations occur at final payment (and before) dates. So a Cove becoming available isn’t an impossibility.

Agent shouldn’t have been adamant...... but this outcome isn’t surprising- or shouldn’t be.

Sorry you didn’t get the cabin you wanted. When my husband and I book GTY we go in knowing we can’t complain with what we get. So usually we just pick our cabin!

Hope you enjoy your cruise!! :)

  7. That's never happened to me, and it sounds very unusual. I've received onboard credit on the ship before for the difference in actual cost of port charges/taxes vs. what was previously estimated/charged at time of booking, but that usually only adds up to a few dollars. Do all of your cruise details look the same on your booking online? That would be unnerving not knowing why it was refunded! I hope you'll let us know what you find out.

Yes. Everything looks the same. This is a group cruise (a group I put together) and someone canceled a couple of days ago. I thought maybe it had something to do with that. But their cabin is still canceled and mine is fine. So I don’t know.

I can’t cal right now. But I will this afternoon and I’ll let you all know what’s up!

  8. It kinda sounds like something Amazon has done to me before, they take their payment for something I ordered, refund it, and take it out again. Did you recently make a payment in that amount?

No I didn’t. I have no future cruises, so no return deposit or anything like that. No orders in that amount or even a few that could equal to that amount.

    A mystery!!

  9. I was scared this morning when I found an unexpected deposit to my checking account. Carnival had deposited 229.70 to my account, without explanation, and I feared somehow my cruise, which leaves Sunday, had canceled. It hasn’t. All is fine on that front. And I still haven’t figured out why they have given me this money! I didn’t have any excursions that canceled or any add ons that were pre paid.

I’ll be calling but until then....... no idea!

Has this ever happened to you? And if so- what was it???

  10. we live in israel, so for us, it's actually easier to sail in europe than in the caribbean, though we never have before.

This will be our first time sailing on this side of the atlantic as well.

the prices are much higher for the cruises in europe than in the caribbean so i don't know if we'll be able to do it that often.

but on they other hand, it's much cheaper for us to fly to barcelona that the USA. So that sort of makes up for it.

    .

Wow. Well that is awesome. Lucky you being so close to these ports. Have a good time!

  11. we finally booked our first cruise (well, my first--my husband had a life before he met me...lol). I booked FEb 2019 on the Wonder....then my mil gave dh a lovely gift and we decided to book a cruise this May, too! THEN a friend said 'i'd love to go on a cruise someday' and I said 'i'll take you' and WE are going in November.

Good thing my dh says my excessive nature is charming. Lolol.

Oh how exciting!!! My husband thinks my excessive nature is adorable. Maybe I need to push the limits on that ! I would LOVE to do a Disney Cruise yet this year.

    Have fun!!

  12. Congrats on your upcoming cruise! I have my 7th Disney Cruise booked for next month (on the Fantasy), but I finally cruised on the Magic this past December for the first time. We had such a blast! I’m sure you’re excited. :)

  13. Okay, so guess what? I changed cruises today! I am glad I am crazy about all of the Disney ships! lol

We switched to the Dream on Feb 25th rather than the Magic. The Magic just did not have exactly what we were looking for and my husband really thought about it and decided he would rather cruise out of Canaveral this time.

    So the Dream it is!!

    Sooooooo stinkin excited!! lol

  14. Ivrier,

I think there is nothing as fun as introducing people to cruising and especially Disney cruising! Lucky you!!

    Have a great cruise!

I am so excited for you that I can feeeeel it!! We too are leaving for Disney Dream in a week with 2 other families who have never cruised. It'll be a huge surprise for the kids as they have absolutely no knowledge of it.
