The wife and I have done 20 Plus cruises with Tui, they briefly started paying lip service to loyal customers about 5 years ago. For one or 2 cruises we received a warm bottle of cheap wine in the cabin on arrival but that soon stopped and we have had nothing for the last 4 ?
Having said that, they must be doing something right because we keep returning 😉
-
I would like to know the answer for this too. If there is no option for a cruise for a single person, could you simply select a cruise for 2, pay for it and just turn up on your own?
Would they object if you had paid the price for 2 people?

Hi John
I love the Dream, never stayed in a balcony cabin however when I was on last year I went to look for the balcony cabins to check them out and boy are they hard to find and you can not see them from the deck above.. nearly broke my neck trying to glimpse them from deck 11 from the pool hope the helps. Have a great cruise.
Thanks a lot for the information, much appreciated.

Has anyone had experience of staying in one of these cabins?
If so, can you let me know if the Balcony is overlooked from deck 12 or are they private?
Thanks
John

I think we are all assuming it will be Thomson's normal arrangements as on their other ships, with 2 sittings only on formal night, but who knows until the ship comes into operation.
I can now confirm, I called Thomson and it will be their normal arrangement's.
-
Never cruising on Thomson before, what is 'normal' dining arrangements please
Cruise lines used to have formal dining arrangements. You were allocated a table with other cruises for either a early of late sitting.
On Thomson you can arrive at any time between 6.30 pm and I think 9.30 pm and request to joining other diners, or if you prefer, ask for your own table.
I have just checked with Thomson and it will be as above :-)
-
Hi,
Can anyone please tell me how the dining works on Discovery. Is it "anytime" like the other ships were you can ask for your own table or is it traditional fixed sitting and shared tables?
Thanks

I have took all the advice and have got myself lots of Euros. I thought that the main problem would be the lack of credit/debit card facilities. However, going by the news today there seems to be a food/medicine shortage already developing and it looks like it will get worse next week.
How do folks think this will play out as regards to Cruising? Do you think we will get a itinerary change? Cruise cancelled etc?

you should be able to print your etickets directly from a link in your ticketing email?
you can checkin online for your flights one week before flying and print off your boarding cards, if you still cant print off your etickets by then it should be okay to just make a note of your cruise booking number and take that with you to show on embarkation at the ship (or a print of the ticketing email)
I usually print my tickets out through the "MyThomson" website. However, they were not showing up to today to allow me to do this. I suspect that there is some technical issues going on.
Oh, I loved the old days when you got a big thick booklet through the post with all your tickets in and holiday details without having to go on the Internet.

Hi all looking for a bit of advice...Sailing on the 13th July. We booked on line included travel insurance in our booking. Was sent email two days ago containing e- tickets. I have tried since then to access but no joy. Message appears stating they are having technical problems. Only items available to download are a 59 page insurance booklet and an abta cover. When I tried calling was put in a queue at 5p a minute for 45 minutes gave up ..Help!!
Hi Poppy, sailing on the same day (13th July) and had the same problem. I booked on-line through CruiseDeals who are owned by Thomson because I can usually get a bit of extra discount.
Anyway we had not received our E-tickets by email by last weekend so I called the branch of (Thomson: rotherhamsuperstore@thomson-shop.co.uk) that our booking was allocated to and that I found on our order confirmation.
I asked them if they could email them to me directly, but was surprised to be told that they did not have the "Facility" to do this but they would post them to me instead. They sent them out to me by 2nd class post on Tuesday and I received delivery today but was disappointed to note that they had only sent out another "confirmation of booking" and not the E-Tickets.
So I phoned up this afternoon and complained to the manager and all of a sudden they were emailed to me 10 minutes later.
I suggest getting on the phone and start complaining.

The Robots who answer email just reply with small print from their terms and conditions and say that there is, "Nothing that they can do". I found the email address of the CEO of Thomson on the web and emailed him about a complaint about them wanting to charge me £200 extra for changing some minor details.
9pm at night a got a call from Thomsons director of cruising apologising for the error. The CEO had forward him the email and told him, "to get it sorted." The director of cruising told me one of his managers would be in touch within 1/2 hour to resolve. 5 minutes later a senior manager called followed by a call from a junior.
Me and the missus spend then night laughing at how quickly things change when the big boss gets involved :):):):)

I'm a sucker for expensive cruise photo's  I always complain about the cost of them on board, and then go and spot a really nice one of my daughter or son and buy a load of them.
We have sets from most of the formal evenings stacked away going back over the last 10 years.
I always believe you get your value from professional photos in years to come when you look back rather than at the time of purchase.

We will be at this port between 08.00 to 17.00 hrs , any ideas? Thanks
There is a mini road train/shuttle that runs from outside the ship to the main beech area a mile or so away. I think the cost was 2 Euros
We just hired a couple of Sun beds and parasols runs by the local bars for 20 Euro for the day and had the waiters bring us cold beers periodically.
I cant remember what tours were available on the day but was glad we chose this DIY option as it was very relaxing.

Once again, why do we only know the name and details of the innocent man and not those that falsely made the accusation?
This happens time and time again. The mans life could have been ruined because of this after his personal information was plastered across the internet.
Does not seem fair to me.

thanks for the quick reply, reading what you've posted above I probably don't need to pack the suit. I would be totally out of my comfort zone wearing a suit on holidays but don't mind wearing the trouser, shirt and possibly the tie for the captain's night. Is the captains night a black tie event? or can I wear just the trouser, nice shirt and tie, something that would suit a wedding reception
I am the same. I don't like dressing up but do wear black trousers shirt and Tie for the formal night. Most people are in Dinner Jacket or suits so I am a bit under dressed for the occasion but it's as far as I can go. My wife and Daughter like getting dressed up so I have no choice:D:D
I also take the view that most people on the cruise do like to be dressed up that night and although I would probably get away without the tie I do it to also respect them (it comes off once I leave) :)
it goes without saying that you can go the Lido and stay in shorts and tee-shirt if you don't want to bother at all with getting dressed up.
Have a great cruise I am sure you will love it.

We have booked a cruise on this ship for a July holiday. My question is do I take up the option of purchasing the drinks package now, (£199 per person) or do I wait until I board the ship and purchase it then ( which if any would be cheaper).
Thank you in advance
Hi, I haven't been on the Celebration for 2 years but I am due to board at the end of June. As far as I know you cannot buy the AI package once onboard? I may be wrong, has it changed recently? Maybe some of the more recent cruisers can confirm?
I have paid £199 because I have to admit, I like a drink or 3, :D:D:D

John,
We also paid and pre booked our seats and checked in online.Checking in online is the final confirmation of your pre booked seats, until you do so your seats are not confirmed and just turning up at the airport with your seat receipt to check in it won't be accepted as final confirmation
Hi Jim,
Thanks, I have had booking confirmation for pre booked seats and when I log on to the Thomson "extra" portal I can see my seats as reserved but cannot "check in " yet. I think I have to wait 14 days before departing.
I will do so ASAP.
All this is stressful :(:(
I prefered it when it used to be very simple before computers came along and you received a nice printed booklet with all you tickets in.
-
Thanks, so it seems that we still have too "check in" even after "checking in" online.
Like you say I cannot see the point. Never mind I will just do as requested so there are no problems at the airport.
Cheers
-
I have to say all these new processes are quite stressful before going on Holiday.
We have paid to select our seats. I understand that we will be able to "Check in " on-line 14 days before we sail and then be able to print out boarding passes.
So what do you do when you arrive at the Airport? Do you still go to the "Check-in " desks so that they can label your cases and take them off you?
Thanks

we are off on the Celebration in June - one of the trios we've booked is the Jerusalem/Bethlehem combo, we believe this trip leaves pretty early in the morning so what we would like to know is what time breakfast start.
Also do they serve those little potions of Marmilte in the Buffet ???
Hi Kizzymom,
I am a light sleeper so tend to be having a cup of tea in the Lido most mornings between 6.30am -7am. I don't have breakfast until later but if my memory serves me right they put out a "full English" from about 6.30am.
Sorry, not sure about the Marmite.

What a joke, they must think we are mugs !
Here's a few things I would like that would not cost them a penny yet give me more of an incentive to stay with Thomson.
1)Free Extra legroom seats on the flight out.
2)An express check in desk when leaving the coach transfer and boarding the ship.
3)Reserved seating at the shows instead of leaving the best seats empty because nobody wants to pay £10 for them.
I could think of a dozen more that would not cost them a penny and I could use better than 20% of the SPA which I have never visited in all of my cruises.
-
Hi Dan,
Are the rumours true of a loyalty scheme?
:)
No answer to this question that they keep avoiding, I do not know why I even bother.
So many cruises and nothing for our loyalty. Not even so much as priority boarding on to the ship that would not cost them a penny.

I would even say that everything was even better than when we were onboard last August - nothing was bad at all. Some of the staff did tell me that the Christmas period was bad - I think they just weren't ready for it having had 5 weeks off & the re-fit; particularly over a busy Christmas period - Thomson were being too greedy trying to start the first cruise back as a Christmas cruise in my opinion.
I wouldn't hesitate to go back again. It will be interesting to hear how things go when all the new team board as the show team are due to change for the new summer season.
I am pleased you had a good cruise and relieved to hear your comments. We were on Celebration August 2012 and after reading the latest reviews were about to book with another cruise line but decided to give Thomson another try.
I have enjoyed my previous cruises on Celebration and hope our experience is as good as yours was.
Is there a FB page for the Celebration?

Sorry but there is no 1 month to 2 month option which is when I usually book
Premium Drinks Package and The Coffee Port?
in Marella Cruises (formerly Thomson)

It does say 10am but when we called in at 9am prior to a tour they gave us coffee on AI premium. Just pop in and ask.
