  1. Our new cabin assignment just showed up also. Porthole to porthole, which is good. The portholes are larger on Magic than Elation, so glad to have the sofa. Also happy to see we are gong to Half Moon Cay instead of Princess Cay! We've done both, but really love Half Moon Cay more.

I have cruised on Carnival several times and the option to select your own cabin vs Carnival selecting it was not there when I booked it.  The rate through the casino was just too good to pass up.  Only port fees and taxes, so it really doesn't matter where the cabin is for that rate.

Just don't want to be worrying about it on embarkation day.

    Thanks everyone....

You can call and book an available cabin but you will have to pay the difference in cruise fare.  We booked this cruise at a time when TBA cabins were all that was available and I am happy with the cruise fare so I am not going to pay to choose one of the cabins that have come open to pick.  I feel sure we will know our cabin two to three weeks before.  We did this once before and got a great cabin.

  3. I haven't read every post on this thread, however, I quickly wanted to say that I sailed on Victory over New Year's and our room steward explained that we could choose morning service, evening service, or both. She gave me a card, where I noted that I wanted both morning and evening. It was no issue, even with 4 grandchildren who rotated spending a night each with us. We're on the Breeze in a few weeks; don't know if we'll experience the same thing or not.

  4. We did this over New Year's Eve and loved it! We chose the tubes, not the raft (you tell them on the bus which you prefer.) There is little walking involved. The bus takes you to where you actually finish; here you get your life vest, helmet, and rental water shoes if you didn't bring your own. This is where you will exit the river at the end and is where the food pavilion is for lunch. Once outfitted with your gear, you board the bus again for a short ride to the start. There you merely go down 20 or so steps and either get into a raft or put your tube in the water. You should have no trouble at all. This was one of our top excursions on any of our cruises and would love to do it again.

  5. My husband and I were on the same cruise; had a great time. I've always found embarkations from Tampa rather chaotic - our last cruise from there was just in Sept. However, this time it was one of the smoothest and quickest of all. It took about 20 minutes from arrival to eating lunch. We were very impressed!

  6. We did Alaska on Carnival in 2008, Vancouver to Whittier. Obviously they don't do that route anymore, but it was unbelievable! When we debarked in Whittier, we rented a car. We wanted to visit Denali, Anchorage and surrounding areas, so we rented a cabin. We spent 4 days on land and doing it ourselves was much, much cheaper than Carnival's (or any line's) land package.

  7. My husband always wears his tux on 7-day cruises, but has begun to wear a suit on shorter ones. We've always noticed a good number of tuxes on the longer cruises. I'm a musician, so I always have black, and seeing men in tuxedos is kind of second nature for me. Plus, I love men in tuxes!

  8. Scubagirrl,

My husband and I will be in Nassau on 9/21 (Carnival Fascination). We've been there several times, always doing something different. This time we wanted to try to find some quiet beach time, close to the ship and having food available. Thanks to your valuable responses - I'm impressed at how you calmly repeat yourself over and over! - we've decided on the BCH day pass. You have described exactly what we were looking for, and your pictures were wonderful, including the stingrays. Now I'll keep my fingers crossed for good weather!
