Well that was a port side room so my guess is the little hallway where the luggage is is the way 2 the cabin door... The tv and closet would be behind the picture taker? Just a guess

From John's blog today :
It is with a bit of alarm that I read one of your comment replies, from today, regarding Carnival Dream cabins 8466 and 8473, the “aft wrap balconies” – category 9A – that apparently are not aft wraps…What were you meaning when you said “Meanwhile guests who have booked these cabins based are being compensated accordingly”? Don’t think I’m asking for a free cruise…I’m just curious as to what “new category” these rooms are listed as…as I booked this cruise on that deck specifically for the Wrap Around balcony…
Thanks!
John Says:
Hello Maverick
It appears that embarrassingly the yard made a mistake when designing these two particular cabins. Our deck plans clearly show them to be wrap around but at the moment they are not. However, the latest news is that on October 28 the partitions will be removed so by the time the ship reaches New York both cabins will once again be wrap around balcony cabins. My sincere apologies to the guests who booked these cabins up until then and as I said those guests have been compensated accordingly.
Sorry to have alarmed you.
Best wishes
John
So according to John, these WILL be WRAP around balconies when the Dream comes Stateside! Too bad though, they can't make the darn ROOMS bigger! :-(
edit - A few more from today:
Susan Asked:We are sailing on Carnival Dream next May, My husband and I were so thrilled to be going on this new ship. We have been on several cruises all with Carnival. We envied those who had wrap balconies and decided that this cruise we would splurge and get the wrap balcony 8466 because according to the deck plans this was a wrap around balcony. We saw pictures of the back of the ship on blogs and we about fell off the floor when we realized this was indeed not a wrap. We called Carnival immediately the other wrap cabins were already booked. They told us not to worry that this was a wrap balcony. Indeed it is not. We were so discouraged no one would listen to us. When we read your blog about this matter we were so happy finally someone else has noticed this is not a wrap. We do not want to be compensated we want the wrap balcony that we paid for. The other cabin that is paying $ 500.00 less is getting the wrap. I sort of feel ripped off. I am sure there are others who feel this same way. I am so hoping that the divider is moved before our cruise. We are anxiously waiting to see how it will all turn out. Thanks for being such a great person your blogs always give us something to look forward to Susan

Hello Susan
Well hopefully by now you have read the comment I replied to a moment ago to Maverick where you will have seen that this problem ………..actually let’s call it as it was………this mistake………..is in the process of being rectified and the partition which was placed there in error during construction is being removed. This means that you will indeed have a wrap around balcony as booked.
My apologies for any worry this may have caused
Best wishes
John
Tom-n-Cheryl Asked:Tasting something SOUR… we have cabin #8466 booked on the Dream for our 2/27/10 sailing.
We booked #8466 PRECISELY because it was an “AFT WRAP”…
It will be interesting to see how they are going to handle this… and NO, I don’t simply want our rate adjusted to a Cat 8 level. That is not what we booked – nor desire!!! :(
Tom

Hello Tom
Please see above and apologies to you as well and I am hope now that “sour” taste has been removed and replaced with something sweet.

From the supervisor:
Michael,This is information coming directly from the shipboard staff. I gave them your exact cabin number, they advised that it does have a couch in that stateroom. Thank you. Have a great night!
-
lol MnMs - do you have other pics of the interior? Preferably the other side, FROM the little hallway thingy out to the other side of the bed? I want to prove to Carnival there is indeed NO couch in that room.
-
Have fun Tom and Cheryl! And happy 25th Anniversary!
-
I called the Carnival supervisor back, and she gave me a bit of new information.
She told me they ARE aware of the situation of these balconies, and admitted they are not wraps! FINALLY my Carnival people agree with reality! :-) She informed me that the compensation levels for this is $200 per person, as OBC.. But that's NOT the same as a $ 200 dollar upgrade to a higher category, as we all know!
I'm going to wait on more interior pictures, as Carnival still insists that 8466 and 8473 have sofas in the room...
EDIT: Mafia - nice pics! Which room is that....and did you get others from the other side of the bed...? Like I stated above, I just got off the phone with a Carnival Supervisor and she still insists that the Verandah 9A cabins do indeed have a sofa...
-
well any other cabin besides the ones on the 8th deck are a better choice, that's for sure! You also get more of a wrap balcony....good choice!
-
any and every picture of the cabin you had, would you email to me please? I've currently got 8473, starboard side "wrap".
Thanks!
no need to worry about file size either :-)
-
Thank you ma'am!
-
so...I see you're going on it here in a few short weeks...
If there are no interior pictures of the rooms in question posted yet, would you mind seeing if you can grab some for us?
-
Karen - you still have the deck 8 "wrap"?
I'm still waiting for the supervisor to call me, she's waiting on the ship to call HER back :-)
edit - nevermind - you've got deck 7. Nice! *still too early in the am for me*
-
Zydeco's pics are up! I'll copy and paste over here..... some nice shots of the rear of the ship for us :-) no internals yet though
^^ You can clearly see the cabin divider up on Deck 8 (white thingy angling downwards) aft of the long 8C cabin.
-
Did you pay for your upgrade? Which room? The ones on deck 7?
Please e-mail me also regarding any info you've received from Carnival about the 9As or pics from other cruisers...... Mpunkt1983@hotmail.com
Thanks!
-
That'd be nice.
Spoke again to the 1-800 carnival lady, tape recorded ("this call may be monitored or recorded for QC purposes"), had a nice hour long convo with her (then her supervisor) and the original lady (direct quote) "I guarantee 8473 has a couch"
interesting...
I virtually held her hand and had her go to John Heald's blog... she is going to talk to HER supervisors tomorrow and call me back then. She confirmed all the 9As are booked (not just a courtesy hold) :-( for my cruise...so I'm not sure what do do here. They were very adamant of "Carnival is the source of the deck plans, they're not wrong"...you know the story.
So NOT all the PVP / CVS people are aware of the situation re: Dream 9A cabins.
I wouldn't mind finding ourselves in one of the Cat11s on deck 7... But I'd RATHER get waht the heck I'm paying for with the 9A!
-
Tom / Happy Crusin' -
Did you guys just end up biting the bullet and paying the difference between the Cat11 and the 9A y'all originally had booked?
I'm thinking of going to the Cat11 if no deck 6 wraps open up. But I'm not wanting to be paying the full difference in price.
-
If any of the 9as on deck 6 opens up i'm gonna change in a heartbeat :)
Same with the deck 8 category 8c cabins that are truly the wraps... Just have to wait to open up.
-
Thing is...I AM paying thosands of dollars for this cabin...8473. And it's NOT fun.
-
On the phone now with one of the phone drones @ carnival...
She's trying to tell me they DO have a wrap on 8473, as well as couch table chairs...I quoted her John's blog response and she now has me on hold - she's telling me she'll e-mail the ship directly and forward it to me.
She seems to be pretty adamant "check the deck plans, they show the wrap". I'm telling her sure the deck plans show it, but the pictures do not.
More proof that if you call 10 people up at Carnival you're bound to get 10 different answers...
So, she took me off of hold and told me her supervisor emailed the ship and the ship will email her back, and forward me a copy of it as well as any pictures (which were requested) if available of these cabins.
I will of course share anything I get here on this thread.
For kicks, everyone - you should call up your PVP / CVS as well and see what they have to say.
ALSO - Check out the "discover cabin categories" for the 9A on the Dream. Those pics are WAAAAAAAY Different than what this category really appears to be. Bait and switch? go to carnival.com/Dream. Click on the "stateroom savvy" link, and look:
See where it says "premium balcony"? Look at that size. ALSO: look at the bottom of the pic, and it shows what.....that's right boys and girls! TABLE and chairs!
fail.
-
My wife was pissed when i told her about our huge room and balcony not being what we paid for... I'm gonna see what join says about our cabins and see if we can get moved to the ones on deck 6. I think they're only being held by a ta... The ship should be able to kick those holds as long as it's not an actual booking i think thats fair. We both want what we paid for. That's a 9a with wrap.
-
lol karen
F deck is "funnel deck" - the deck that used to exist in which used to feature ladies bathing in the sun sans bikini tops. The topless deck.
the other one, they're gonna have to enlighten me on as well :-)
-
the only other aft cabins on my sailing are the 8Gs on deck 7...
those will probably have a bigger room.
i too was expecting something along the lines of Tom's pics (not the cat11 from spirit though..wow those are beautiful!)....and for us, we are paying about 600 bucks or more specifically for.......what?
-
but should I book deck 6 when it directly over looks the promenade deck below and people walking at all hours of the day?? what kind of privacy is that?
well.....if you're like Squeaker and I... you might not mind the "lack of privacy".... :-)
-
from the inaugural Dream thread -
Well, We had cabin 8473 and paid quite a bit extra for the wrap around. We had no wrap around, no sofa or chairs and could barely fit around the bed. When we inquired, the ship personal agreed with us that we should be given a refund for our supposed upgrade. We received a letter that said they would not compensate us or take care of us. They basically said too bad! I was so disappointed. Please let me have a way to talk to John about this. Thanks. -
oh boy - not the pics I was hoping for! Waaay too small...where's the sofa? where's the rest of the darn ROOM!?!?
Warning Dream deck 8 aft 9A wraps

Updated pictures from Zydecocruiser of the wrap balconies with focus on deck 8:
It actually looks as if Deck 8 has the bigger balcony than deck 7 now...more on the "aft" side, less on the side...but not by much. Note that in these pics, the deck 7 balcony divider is opened...looks as if the wrap "starts" @ the same spot on all 3 decks (or very close to)
