  1. What's the charge to park there?

Parking in the parking garage is $18 a day for regular size vehicles. Twice that for larger vehicles. Not sure if it is the same if you park at the Civic Center, but I would imagine it is. Kind of pricey. I guess they are trying to pay for the garage in one year in case Carnival pulls out again.

  2. Just a FYI for cruisers going out of Mobile. There is now a way to prepay and reserve a parking spot before your cruise. You can set up an account at PremiumParking dot com and pay parking ahead of time. You then just drive into the parking garage without additional checking in. Since there is not enough space in that garage for everyone(overflow is sent to the Mobile Civic Center and bussed back to the port) it might be worth your while to do this ahead of time.

  3. We are booked on the Fantasy out of Mobile in December, and I just saw where Mobile will have the staggered check-in. So, I went to pick my time, and the first one available was 11:00-11:30. Just wondering if that is the earliest time, or was I just too late to pick an earlier time. Anyone know? Thanks.

  4. I think the OP meant that they never had a cabin steward react that way before, not that no one ever noticed the smell before.

Sent from my iPad using Forums mobile app

Thank you, that is exactly what I meant. I know you can smell smoke on smokers, because, believe it or not, I can smell smoke on other people. I was just concerned that people who smoke(in the allowed areas on the ship) are at risk for being accused of smoking in the cabin, when they are not.

I would think that if someone is actually smoking in the cabin, the smell would be much stronger than what clings to their clothing.

  5. Last cruise, when we returned to the cabin one day, there was an ionizer machine going. The cabin steward came in shortly thereafter to get the machine, and asked us if we were smoking in the cabin. I told him no, absolutely not, that we are smokers but we would never smoke in the cabin. But we do stay in the smoking area when we are on Lido, and we are in the casino a lot, smoking. I guess he was very sensitive to the smell of smoke, and either our clothes were that smelly, or someone near us was smoking. But it was not us for sure.

We were not charged anything, and I would have raised all kinds of hell if we were, but the rest of the cruise I was worried that they would try to charge us for smoking in the cabin.

Has this happened to anyone else? I guess on our next cruise, I am going to have to bring a giant bottle of Febreeze, and spray ourselves before we go back to the cabin.

I really don't want to hear a discussion of how smoking is bad for you and that it should be totally banned on the ships. For now, it is not and we will continue to smoke. Just curious if this has happened to anyone else.

  6. So, we received an email today that due to a medical emergency on the current Elation cruise(they had to go to Grand Turk for someone to get medical attention) they will not arrive at JAX Saturday until 1pm.(possibly later-we'll know more tomorrow). We are on the Saturday cruise out of JAX. I know this happens, but it hasn't happened to us so I'm wondering how bad embarkation is going to be with such a late arrival back to port? We usually try to arrive at the port around 11am, but Carnival is saying for no one to come to the port until they hear from them. Will Platinum and FTTF get notice to arrive earlier than the general passengers, or will everyone just get a time they can come to the port? I fear it is going to be mass chaos.

And now we have to figure out what to do for at least 4 hours after we have to check out of our hotel.

Anyone been through this and can tell me how bad it is going to be?

  7. I emailed Casino@carnival.com (2 weeks ago)and Michael Bayona directly, last week, and have had no response from either. I guess we are SOL for any perks on our April cruise. DH and I usually accumulate over 6000 points each on a cruise and are in the casino a lot. Oh well, maybe they will surprise us with something once we are on the ship. Anything we get is appreciated. We usually have the "drinks on us" on day one, and it is nice to have. We also get a bottle of wine at dinner one night, strawberries on embarkation and casino cash. And last cruise they gave us a free choice from the steakhouse upgrade on the menu(filet mignon for both). Ah, the good ole' days.

  8. Sorry your cruise was not perfect. I happen to love the Fascination, have been on it 4 times and going on her again this Saturday. Were our cruises perfect? No, but we never had any experiences like you describe. I can always find food that I like. I don't let small things ruin my cruise. I am not cooking or cleaning, so all is good. We are Platinum, so debarkation is always fast. Never have we been off the ship later than 8am. And we love the smaller ship. That is just our preference. We don't need all the bells and whistles on the larger ships. Yes, it is showing it's age, but everything is always clean and the crew are constantly cleaning. And IMHO, for the price, it is a great value.

We play in the casino a lot. I don't expect to win big, and can usually play a good while on my budgeted money. And the casino is very generous with us. I don't expect anything from them, so anything they do is greatly appreciated.

  9. I've read some different posts about the "Drinks on Us" in the casino being discontinued soon? Is this true? For those who have cruised lately(and are casino players) is it still being offered? I am particularly interested in the Fascination, as we will be sailing on her in a few weeks. I am usually given the free drinks card on the first night, based on my play from my previous cruise. Thanks.

  10. There's lots of tables for two - however, they are close together. Don't count on just the two of you all alone. The people at the table next to you may strike up a conversation as we have found to happen. Don't expect your dining experience to be intimate.

This is exactly true. You will most likely have couples on both sides of you. We have never had a problem with the proximity. Some times we have conversations with them sometimes not. Just depends on the people. Several times we have been beside young couples who are on their first cruise, and they will ask us about the different food choices, or things to do on the ship, etc.

  11. No, no, no. You can't be finished with your report already. Absolutely one of the most enjoyable reports I've read. I felt like I was right there with you.

Hope you cruise again very soon so you can give us another amazing narrative of each day's adventures.;)

  12. You may get a $50 gift card from them, which you can use to apply to your S&S balance.

I got a similar email a while back, applied, was approved and received the card. My offer said I would receive a $75 gift card(which can be used to pay toward a cruise or S&S), which I did finally receive and I will use that on our upcoming cruise.

Do you need a number to call the credit card company? I'll see if I can find one in my paperwork.

  13. I am enjoying your report so much, and I'm anxiously awaiting more.

The next best thing to cruising is reading such a detailed and well written report. I'm also glad you did not experience any negativity about your relationship. I like to think we Southerners are generally a friendly group, although anywhere you go, there can be narrow minded people.

  14. If you plan to spend more than $1500 onboard on your Sail & Sign account you can charge it to your Carnival Mastercard and then redeem the Fun points on that charge for 1.5x point value and the Sail & Sign points are also available to pay off that amount. ;)

I thought anything you charge with Carnival on the Funpoints MasterCard (onboard or paying for the actual cruise) gives you double points, not 1.5. And why does it have to be more than $1500?

Is there a different card that only pays 1.5?x?

  15. Thanks, bigdog1958. That is what I wanted to know.

The thing I like about the card is that you get double points when you use it to pay for your Carnival cruises and onboard charges. Since lately I only redeem points for Carnival cruise travel, I thought the Carnival card would be a way to get more points.

  16. Just got our Carnival FunPoints credit card, and just wondered about others' experience with it. When you redeem points towards the cost of your cruise(or other travel) are there specific amounts you have to redeem, or can it be any amount you choose? Thanks.
