    Sigh...... Everyone's a critic.......sigh

Yes, waterbaby, Steve, Tim and Janet picked up the tab both ways because I was busy being birthed out of the cab by the cab driver and a team of bystanders, but, I believe I heard it was $10 plus tip.  This was all part of my earlier, deleted post.  I'll try to remember what I said and rewrite the gist of it, but, let me finish the actual review first.

$10 sounds about right.  If you walked away from the port it might be 6-8

As I watch the webcam waiting for the ship to move, I can’t help but to feel so jealous of all those on board.  Wish it was me.  We left NYC at night once when we were delayed and it got darker earlier because of the time of year, and yes it is so beautiful!  NYC is in my opinion the coolest place to cruise out of.

I love sailing out of NYC harbor but the terminal is awful especially for a ship that size.

  3. Just got off the Escape a couple of weeks ago we were never bored plenty to do.  The Brat pack show was really good especially for fans of the 80s.  There were 3 different comedians and a comedy magician. Dueling pianos, bands, game shows, and movies.

I found the App to be very useful.  However, it drained the hell out of my battery!  I did not have wifi.  I just put my phone on airplane mode and accessed the App.  I am not a techie by any means.  LOL!  Maybe I did something wrong?  The App gave me everything I needed and worked well for me (other than draining the battery).  Enjoy your cruise! 🙂

I would agree the app was a battery drainer.

Without seeing your exact disembarking date, this is what I would do. 4 adults, 4 bags plus 4 carry-on will not get into any taxi on a metered run to LGA, you will want to get a minivan taxi or maybe the newest Nissan NV200, as those should work. If you get off early n quickly, use porter's services for faster exit thru CBP out to ground transportation. Walk across 12th Ave to corner taxi stand, usually the line moved quickly with a dispatcher on duty. Ignore the scanners, some acting as Uber when they aren't.

Or, just as fast, call Dial7 or Carmel for a pickup across 12th Ave as you leave CBP area, while walking out of terminal. Except for our last Halloween's return on Marathon Sunday, the car service & driver got there in about 10 minutes ... about the same time as waiting with the taxi queue. They charged a flat rate plus toll, $8.50 and be sure the driver to use the fastest route. For Sunday's, we've gone north on the West Side Hwy, across 125th Street n then the RFK Bridge to BQE, Queens to LGA, all in about 30 minutes or less.

Use Google Maps/Navigation or Waze to check your route options yourself, but mostly avoid the crosstown run to Queens Midtown Tunnel as it's one lane each way only on weekends & will cost big time. Drivers that avoid tolls using the Ed Koch or 59th St East River Bridge end up paying for it with delays & extra time at red lights.

Thanks for the information. You mentioned the marathon how bad did that mess up traffic?
