  1. Hi there!

I actually live in Norfolk.  If it is the area that I am thinking (around Military Highway/Lake Wright area) you are much further than a mile from the actual part of the airport than you need to be.  Also, the walk is terrible, it will be on a very busy street- not a highway technically but close, with no sidewalks.  I would not walk it myself and I know the area well.  If you reference your hotel to Norfolk Botanical Gardens, you will get a better idea of the actual entrance to the airport (although, I will admit that the gardens are about half a mile further down the road).

  2. My Mom also recently passed away and she loved cruising- not only are we looking into doing a ceremony on our next trip- we also are collecting (a very little bit) of sand from every beach we go to (Outer Banks as well) to add to her burial plot---makes us feel like part of her was with us :).

So sorry for your loss- I loved reading your reviews- you guys were an amazing couple.

  3. I was wondering if anyone knew if I was able to contact Carnival directly about spreading ashes and doing a ceremony at sea. I have tried writing John Heald but I'm sure he is overloaded with requests at the moment and I have not heard back. I have time (till Sept actually) but I'm anxious to get this set up.

We are spreading my Mothers ashes who fought a hard but shortshort battle with Brain Cancer in January (she was diagnosed in October---very short but very aggressive). She loved cruising and loved the beach so a part if her ashes are being scattered in OBX and half on our next cruise--which is most of the reason we scheduled one so quickly. I want to get peace of mind that things are set up yo do this which is why I'm so antsy about it

  4. My dad had his done 5 weeks ago- yesterday he went and walked around Busch Gardens with no cane- not wheelchair- etc. If you are familiar with Busch Gardens it has tonnnnnns of hills. He feels better now then when before he got it done. Everyone recovers different. I really think the key to it is exactly what they did with my Dad- get up and get going quick and your recover time should be painless. They had my Dad up the same night he got it done.

  5. We did the Dunn River Falls/White River Tubing trip last year with Peat Taylor tours. Everyone associated with the tour (Peat and Peat, Jr.) could not have been more helpful and knowledgeable. We felt completely safe during the entire tour. (You will have other guides for the Falls and the tubing, but no worries there either.) I didn't find a price anywhere better than what they were offering.

Another vote for Peat Taylor! We just returned this week and we used him. We did a self guided tour- we basically told him what we wanted to do and he took us to the best places for it. It was $20 a person and it was the BEST $20 I spent on the entire trip :D
