  1. I hope you got it figured out. Before we visit Canada we have to make sure and call our Credit Cards to let them know that we will be making purchases in Canadian funds. They then give a rehearsed reading about the extra fees we will incur. By doing this our card does not have any problems and we are never declined. I think the cc companies need to give you their disclosure of fees before they allow out of country transactions. I even do this before I send flowers their way (Canadian family) because they will decline the transaction if I don't. I believe it's all about disclosure laws and perhaps/hopefully somewhat about protecting you from unauthorized foreign transactions.

Thank you very much for the advice, I was able to eventually (Dec. 2016) complete my transaction 'online' and pay with the visa card I spoke about, I'm not pointing fingers at anyone because now all I care about is ..... I'm paid in full and I will be on a back to back cruise in 47 days!!!

    Happy Cruising Y'all!!!

  2. Very frustrated..... I called Carnival just now and we tried to put the payment thru with the exact credit card that started this mess and sure enuf.... declined! So, we changed the zip code to include two zero's as the previous poster suggested... declined! The Carnival Lady told me they all received an email yesterday regarding payments from credit cards with a Canadian Postal Code being rejected but the lady on my phone call told me she didn't read the email and couldn't find it anymore - lol

Anyway, I suggested I go online with her on the phone and try to pay in full myself. That is what I did.

    ACCEPTED!!! YAYYYY!!! Finally!!!

I used my Canadian Postal Code and it did go thru, the lady refreshed her screen and confirmed I have a zero balance.

Now all I have to do is pay for the next one as we are booked back to back, I'll give it a couple days.....

Thank you all for all your replies and experiences, it was re-assuring to know I was not the only with these types of issues.

Also.... I have contacted my bank and my card has not been compromised what so ever and will not need to be cancelled or replaced. This is an isolated issue and my bank is well aware of it.

    Happy Friday......

  3. I called Carnival and did a conference call with Visa..... Visa did in fact put a block on my card with 'Carnival' for 'unusual activity' so the block was removed and we tried the transaction once more. Declined! So now Visa is saying it is the merchant that now has a block because of several attempts..... whatever?!?!?

The lovely lady at Carnival was able to extend my due deposit payment to December 19th so I can call back in a couple days to try again after this mess settles.....

  4. Has anyone ever had this happen? I called my PVP at Carnival last night and reserved a cruise for my dh and dd and myself. I used my RBC Avion Visa for the deposit and rec'd my confirmation immediately after.

Today, my son says he wants to join us so I called back my PVP and told him to change my reservation to 4 people from 3. After selecting the room etc. my PVP told me he needed to add the extra $ deposit for my son. He proceeded to put thru my same credit card info then he told me my card was declined! He tried again, declined! He said "3 strikes and we're locked out". I assured him there is more than enuf room on that card to go ahead and do it again. Nope. So he told me to "call my bank, the bank needs to fix it". So I did. The bank told me "there is a charge from last evening (my first reservation) but there is no record of the 3 declines today", basically, if it aint broken, they can't fix it. So, I called PVP back and we tried my husbands card (same account different #) - Declined!

Fine, we then decided to use my Master Card.....declined! My Mastercard has no balance on it. Something is wrong!

I told my PVP I would call tomorrow to try again.

In the meantime, I went onto Travelocity and booked 4 flights to Miami on the same RBC Avion Visa... there is absolutely nothing wrong with my credit card.... it's Carnival, but not according to my Carnival PVP. I'm not happy

    Am I missing something here?

  5. Thanks MPH711...... this is exactly the information I was needing. I was there in March and I am heading back there this December. I was very satisfied with Speedy's but I just wanted to try something different next time. This Dion way seems to be a better way to go. As I said, by the time we arrived with Speedy's, it was jammed packed full with people and my pictures do not look like yours at all. All mine have tons of people (I don't know) in them. We did the exact opposite route. We walked up the path after going thru the rocks to get to our taxi to get back to the ferry.

For anybody reading this that has not experienced these baths.... this is a 'do not miss' adventure! You will love this one!

  6. I took the other (Speedys) ferry and would like to try Dion the next time. I'm wondering if you found it challenging going the opposite way thru the caves from the majority of the people. When we were there, it seemed like only a handful of people were coming thru from the beach and because it's so tight it was almost impossible for those people to get past us who were going the opposite direction? I hope this question isn't confusing. I would rather be dropped at the beach by Dion and walk thru but then do we have to make it all the way back thru to get picked up by Dion for the return?

  7. Just a few more questions, if I may.......

    1. Approx. how long of a taxi ride to get to Maho beach?

    2. Approx. how much does taxi cost to Maho beach (6p)?

    3. Approx. what time in the afternoon would you want to be 'on your way back' if your ship is leaving at 5pm?

    Thanks alot!
