  1. Just got this from RCI>>>>

"While we sincerely regret to learn of any disappointment that has been caused by the responses you have previously received from us, we do trust that you will understand that Royal Caribbean International reserves the right to make business decisions that we deem most appropriate for our company as a whole. We do not take these types of decisions lightly and these determinations are made based on numerous variables. We understand that our judgments in these types of matters will not always be pleasing to every one of our guests.

Under our current price protection policy, no refunds or onboard credits are available after the final payment date. It is our feeling that we have provided a more than acceptable alternative in light of these developments, and our guests will still experience a fantastic cruise vacation despite this itinerary modification. Only under extreme and rare circumstances would a full refund be offered, and as such we will not be offering any compensation regarding this issue which affects all sailing guests. We apologize for any displeasure experienced with this matter.

Details regarding this itinerary modification were communicated to our consumers on July 14, 2015. While you have requested a specific date on when the itinerary was changed, this is not information that we are able to provide, as this will not in any way hinder the quality of the world-class cruise vacation we have to offer our valued guests. As mentioned in our previous message, we will be offering a wonderful program of additional details surrounding the exciting options available for your cruise vacation, found in the daily Cruise Compass onboard.

Additionally, please rest assured that our amazing shipboard staff will ensure that you have a wonderful cruise vacation aboard the Enchantment of the Seas. When faced with having to make adjustments to a sailing, we do our very best to ensure the onboard experience is of the highest quality. You can be certain that we will go above and beyond to make sure each of our valued guests enjoys a positive and unforgettable cruise vacation.

We hope these grievances have not caused you to lose any faith in our cruise line, as your previous sailings with us have been both positive and memorable.

thank you for choosing Royal Caribbean International. We are confident that you will enjoy a wonderful cruise vacation aboard the Enchantment of the Seas next month.

    Sincerely,

    Jeffrey Angermayer

    Customer Service Representative"

Interesting that their response to when was the cruise changed internally is that they can't give it because the cruise will still be fun. Doesn't really make sense. Not sure why they didn't just say that it was decided and then announced right away, unless that is not true. If they intentionally sat on announcing after making a final determination on their end weeks earlier, that's different from an unforeseen change.

In the end, though, we would not cancel even if we could - our flights are booked, work schedules planned, and we are on the following 3-nighter. And a small OBC is just a small consolation, it won't change anything.

  2. Below is what was sent to me from RCI>>>>>>

"Dear Enchantment of the Seas Guest:

During your sailing, we will be in the process of installing an advanced emissions purification (AEP) system – also known as a scrubber – to remove sulfur dioxide particulate matter from the ship’s engine exhaust streams. Doing this helps protect the environment, and keeps us ahead of government standards for emissions.

In order to perform the required work, it is necessary to extend the time Enchantment of the Seas is in Nassau, Bahamas. Therefore, it will be necessary to modify your itinerary.

We will be offering a wonderful program of entertainment, food and activities while the ship is alongside in Nassau, and our casino and shops will be open. Additional details on all of your onboard options will be available in the Cruise Compass. Our staff will ensure you have a delightful time onboard.

On behalf of our Officers, Staff and Crew we would like to welcome you onboard and we wish you a wonderful cruise vacation.

    Sincerely,

    Royal Caribbean International"

This says the casino will be open. We shall see.

Do they all work for the same company?

I had the same thing happen to me, last week, when I spoke to 3 different RCI "certified vacation planners". Different answers to the same question.

Not surprising. Hope it's open though.

  3. So, why do you think the the staff on board had anything to do with the timing of this and can offer you some resolution? This was totally out of their control as well as ours. May I suggest that you take your concerns to the front office in Miami before the cruise.

We plan on having a great time since we will be on a fantastic ship with a super crew!

We too plan to have a great time. We've been on Enchantment before and loved it, and we've had plenty of days on Coco Cay and at sea (and will have in the future). My biggest issue with the change is that, instead of having two of the four nights at sea--sailing with a breeze, looking out at the ocean--we'll be sitting in port. Again, not a huge deal, but if we end up facing another ship--and losing our anticipated privacy on the balcony and beauty of the open ocean--I will feel like the change had an overall negative impact on the cruise. That doesn't mean that we won't still enjoy our time--we will--but it's certainly a negative change.

My point about speaking with the crew onboard rather than corporate in advance actually stemmed from someone's comment earlier on this thread, which said that RCI representatives actually told them to inquire onboard as to whether any compensation would be available. I don't think the onboard crew had any more to do with the change than the people taking phone calls for RCI. But I've found--based on past experience--that those who work on the ship and are trained in customer service tend to be better at providing customer service. So, if I do decide to raise this as an issue (which I mentioned I likely will only do if we end up facing another ship or construction), then I plan to raise it onboard rather than calling up beforehand.

Not trying to start an argument.

  4. You may want to read it again.

    6. CANCELLATION, DEVIATION OR SUBSTITUTION BY CARRIER:

    a) Carrier may for any reason at any time and without prior notice, cancel, advance, postpone or deviate from any scheduled sailing, port of call, destination, lodging or any activity. Except as provided in Section 6(e) below, Carrier shall not be liable for any claim whatsoever by Passenger, including but not limited to loss, compensation or refund, by reason of such cancellation, advancement, postponement, substitution or deviation.

    b) In connection with a CruiseTour, Carrier has the same right to cancel, advance, postpone or deviate from any scheduled activity, departure or destination, or substitute another railcar, bus, destination or lodging or other component of the CruiseTour. Except as provided in Section 6(e) below, Carrier shall not be liable for any claim by Passenger whatsoever, including but not limited to loss, compensation or refund, by reason of such cancellation, advancement, postponement, substitution or deviation.

    c) By way of example, and not limitation, Carrier may, without liability, (except as provided in Section 6(e) with respect to mechanical failures only), deviate from any scheduled sailing and may otherwise land Passenger and her property at any port if Carrier believes that the voyage or any Passenger or property may be hindered or adversely affected as a result of hostilities, blockages, prevailing weather conditions, labor conflicts, strikes onboard or ashore, breakdown of Vessel, congestion, docking difficulties, medical or life saving emergencies or any other cause whatsoever.

    d) Carrier shall have the right to comply with any orders, recommendations, or directions whatsoever given by any governmental entity or by persons purporting to act with such authority and such compliance shall not be deemed a breach of this Agreement entitling the Passenger to assert any claim for liability, compensation or refund.

    e) In the event that a Cruise (or the cruise component of a CruiseTour) is canceled or terminated early due to mechanical failures:

    i) Passenger shall have a right to a full refund of the Cruise Fare if the Cruise is canceled in full, or a partial refund if the cruise is terminated early;

ii) Carrier may cover or reimburse Passenger for additional costs (e.g. airline change fees) as deemed appropriate by the Carrier .

iii) If the passenger has travelled to the Vessel Passenger shall have a right to transportation (by means selected by the Carrier to the Vessel?s scheduled port of disembarkation or the Passenger?s home city; and

iv) Passenger shall have a right to lodging (selected by the Cruise Line) if disembarkation and an overnight stay in an unscheduled port are required due to the Cruise or cruise component of a CruiseTour being cancelled or terminated early because of such mechanical failures.

Sorry--I meant that they can do this, which is why I plan to just raise it onboard and appeal to their customer service sensitivities, rather than get into a fight about the contract.

  5. You could probably fight this in court and win. However, the cost of the lawyer would be much more than the cost of the cruise. Cruise lines know this and take advantage of that fact.

Look at par. 6 of cruise ticket contract. I plan to raise this onboard, especially if our room faces construction or another ship for three says. I still haven't gotten a notice yet.

  6. You've got to think they've had this scheduled much further in advance. To wait until everyone has paid in full and not allow them to cancel is pretty shady to me!

Any fun things to do in Nassau? We've done CB resorts and wandered around Atlantis before. What else can you do (including for-fee activities short of renting a room) there?

  7. I wanted to get clear updated answers here because I've seen old stuff and can't tell which is accurate.

    What are the restaurants total?

I read about a restaurant called The Jade serving Asian food on Enchantment, but it was only on a few sites. Is it still there? Is there a surcharge?

Is there a Johnny Rockets on Enchantment, and is the surcharge still around $4?

Is there a Portofino? Also find some sites talk about it and some don't when listing restaurants.

What flavors do they have at Ben and Jerrys and do they vary? Shakes also?

We are trying to gauge what we will be charged for. Chops, ben and jerrys, some specialty cupcake place... is that the only food with an upcharge?

    Thanks so much!

Jade is just a section in the WJ. Asian. Nothing separate.

  8. Great, then they'll be hogging the left hand lane.

I left a message at C&A asking for them to contact the ship to answer:

1: Will the casino be open? (Sounds like yes.)

2: Will the MDR be open for lunch at least one of the days? (I assume yes on day two but we'll see.)

3: What is our cabin facing (port side) when we dock in Nassau? We love the ocean breeze and beautiful views. If we're staring at another ship for three days I'd be upset, especially after paying extra for a suite.

  9. I have the one device package on Oasis. It was $109 for the week for premium plus with my platinum discount. If I log off my iPhone I can log in with my iPad. Log off iPad and log back in to iphone. FaceTime audio and video have worked perfectly.

Those people with free minutes can apply it to a package. There were four package options at each of three levels. Basic, premium and premium plus. For Diamond it was $29.99 off which would give you one free 24 hour day.

Thanks! So you are paying $109 for the fastest Internet package? And this is unlimited, right? I assume seven-night cruise? Glad to hear facetime works. I thought the fastest package was well into the $200s, even with a discount. Thanks again.

  10. As someone else already mentioned, last years Indy TA didn't have any full cruise internet package.

Is the 7 day package contiguous, or could it be any 7 days in the two weeks? I'm going on the Allure TA in April, and wouldn't mind having Internet sometimes, but don't think it would be worth it to me to pay that much for the full two weeks. Part of the holiday idea is to get me away from the internet :D

I wonder is the 60 minutes the same as it used be - you could use 10 minutes here, 5 minutes there, or do you have to use the full 60 minutes at once?

When you do the package for a single device, does that mean you pick one device and stick with it all week, or can you log off and use a different device so long as you only use one device at a time? Any updates on current pricing? Thanks.

  11. No offense

but you have to keep that pace up every day for 2 people.

even for the stone cold drunks that be hard to do

and I can drink a lot

I purchased the package for a four-nighter last year and found that I was able to drink my money's worth over four nights. I now have it again for our upcoming seven-nighter. I imagine that I will trail off at the end, but the convenience, combined with the fact that I will more freely order top shelf for everything (last time I ordered mudslides with grey goose), hopefully make it worthwhile.

  12. Not sure if this is a secrete or not, but I discovered while on Explorer that the food in the MDR is all you can eat, endless at no charge! If you want to try 2 appetizers, you can, if you want 2 entrees they let you, no questions asked! There was even a time we all wanted to try scallops, but a few of us didn't want it as an appitizer, so they just put it in as an entree and brought us out a large plate of about 12-15, opposed to the normal plate of 4. The only thing is with lobster, they said they had to make sure everyone who ordered it got some first, but we were able to get seconds of that as well.:D

I have certainly overconsumed on lobster night. If you tell your waiter and head waiter the day before that you want multiple, they will make it happen.

  13. Try Sabor if you like Mexican food. We ate there for lunch twice. It's priced ala carte, prices were reasonable. I got 3 tacos and a side of rice for like $4.50.

We have a reservation here for dinner one night. The menu looks good, but is it nice enough for dinner? Or is it too casual? We don't need super-fancy dinners every night, and I understand Sabor certainly is not that, but if it's more casual than the WJ, we might reconsider and just do it for lunch.
