  1. Just gonna add my opinion of Coki since I was there a week ago tomorrow. There were 4 ships in port and if you get there early, you can enjoy the beach for a little while when it's quiet, and then either enjoy the vibe or if you were all the way to the left as you look at the water, you would have space all day.

Make sure you snorkel on both sides of the beach, hardly anyone snorkels the left side, but it was really awesome and both my husband and I saw a turtle! If my children were older, I would choose the left side, but since they are only 3 and 6 we were really far right, which was great for my 6 year old to snorkel and both of them to make little friends. We did a super quiet beach on St. Martin the day before (le Galion) and really enjoyed the energy at Coki. BTW, le Galion would be a great choice for the person looking for a beach that stayed waist deep way out and wasn't wavy at all.

We never smelled a thing on the right side, but as you walk all the way across you might catch a noseful, but I never actually saw anything other than a lot of dreads. ;)

We ate a wonderful lunch from Bomani's Spot at Uncle Buddys https://www.facebook.com/bomanisspotatunclebuddys?ref=br_tf. Had the grilled red snapper and conch in butter sauce. We will talk about that meal every time we ever eat at a beach again in our lives! Service was great at first, but as the beach got busy, it was hard to find our server, Michelle. And if you get impatient and order something from someone else, you will get an earful! Just part of the local color.

If you're interested in snorkeling at all, you would not regret the decision to go to Coki in my opinion. Also it's beautiful as the vista is not developed at all. Actually, we had so much fun here, we are gonna look into taking a vaca to St. Thomas on it's own merits. Good times!

  2. Quick question to go along with Coki beach, sounds like when you're dropped off you're kind of "introduced" to someone who will end up being your server, but is there a better restaurant to choose to go to that you wouldn't want to be tied to that server? Anyone know how that works? Would love fresh seafood and frozen drinks! :-)

  3. I'm really wasn't expecting anything, nor has anyone been unkind, I just felt left out, maybe a little dismissed. Now I'm not sure I should have shared, it's getting a little over analysed. Of course, I've spent enough time on CC to see that coming. ;)

  4. I have to admit it wouldn't occur to me to acknowledge children from a Roll Call post. I may be misunderstanding what you mean.

Yes, sorry if that seems weird to say. But in my situation I lightheartedly replied to a roll call post about hoping there wouldn't be many kids or that they would at least be hidden. In my reply I explained how my girls were almost excited as any one of us and included a couple of pics where they were playing with their Barbie cruise ship (their dolls were dining on sushi, kinda adorable. Yes, I am biased). Not a single person posted for a whole day after that. Just made me feel kinda left out/avoided since there is so much other chatty stuff going on. I know we will have a fabulous trip! I started this thread right after that happened, when I needed to vent a little. It's all good!!!!

  5. I wouldn't say they are being rude, just haven't acknowledged my girls AT ALL. It's fine, I get it, I am one of those people who considered never having kids and waited until I was 35 to finally do it. I know they'll win over any sourpuss. :p

I do plan on going to the meet and mingle, but by myself. Not much fun for them anyway, but I like to be social and hear from the officers. See you on the Getaway!

  6. SissasMomE, I noticed on your thread before you left there were requests for dailies from Splash Academy. Any chance you posted them somewhere that I missed? (Have a 3 and 6 yr old). Hoping to see some current ones as the ones I've seen are from February. Thank you for all the great information on the Getaway as well as myriads of other topics!!

  7. Ya, exactly, cbsmama. It's not like people seem mean, just one comment hoping there won't be that many kids and that the ones there will be "hidden". When I commented back to say we probably wouldn't be doing the same things anyway and shared how excited my girls are and posted a couple pics of them playing with their Barbie cruise ship, no response at all. As a matter of fact, no one commented on the roll call for a whole day. O well.

  9. What about a couple practical things like Britta filter water bottles, neoprene bottle sleeves (work great to keep water cold), or a little misting fan like the O2 cool carabiner water misting fan? I agree that it's not 'necessary' but I think it's a nice idea that kids would appreciate!

  10. Sorry if the title of the post is a bit passive aggressive. Just a little rant.

I thought I wouldn't be able to go to an 11:00 Meet and Mingle thinking kids club ended at 11:30, but now I see it is noon. So perhaps I will sign up and kids can hang at the club or with Daddy. Probably find out a lot more I have in common with fellow passengers sans kids, and I would love to experience any higher up crew with this being my first NCL cruise.

Glad to hear hours shouldn't be affected. Mommy and Daddy need time, too. And since I'm at home and homeschooling, girls might enjoy a bit of a vacation from ME! :p

  11. I'm traveling with my two girls 6 and 3 and we're the only family on the roll call with younger kids. Not feeling too welcome, so I haven't even dared sign up for the Meet and Greet. Not a big deal, just different from my last cruise on RC. First time on NCL.

Anyhoo, traveling mid May, what should I expect from splash academy? Still plenty of kids? If not, will they reduce hours like I've heard of on Carnival? If not a lot of young kids guess the bonus is less crowded aqua park? Kids are so excited, as are we! :D

  12. If I make reservation on NCL.com for specialty dining is there a way to change the day or time? What about entertainment, if you select a date and time, is there a way to change your date and/or time? If it matters, I have the UDP. Wondering if I would have any type of fee? Have to wait until I get on board? Sorry if this is common knowledge, my searches have not uncovered the answer. :o

  13. Any chance my 3 yr old will be able to do the easy slide? Do they let parents go with on that slide? She'll love the aqua park, but we do water park resorts a couple times a year so I know she loves the slides and is WAY too fearless! :-D

  14. I actually sent an email to the Latitudes desk about 15 minutes ago about this. My husband was on the S.S. Norway back in 1986 for the Halley's Comet cruise. When you sign up for Latitudes, the options for picking a previous cruise only go back to 1999. Now, technically, he was in his teens and would have been under his Father's reservation so our situation may not be the same as yours. I will absolutely let you know what, if any, reply I get. Have a great week!

  15. Thanks for the review! Know you didn't have the kids on this trip, but since BA is so similar, could you tell me if any of the waterslides would be suitable for a 3 year old, either with a parent (if allowed) or with one waiting at the bottom? Assuming my almost 6 year old would be able to go on a few of them at least. Also, do you remember which side of the ship the fireworks went off? Would love to try to book the correct side of the ship since I will probably be confined to quarters with sleeping kiddos. TIA!
