  1. Not an answer to your question but something I did.

As soon as  had confirmation from my PCC that the credit was in my HA account, I deleted the app. It was one of those things that after dealing with it, one felt like a shower was needed.

Anyway, was gone in seconds and I can always download it again when needed.

Just downloaded the Stockperks app yesterday. Filled in some of the requested info but not all.

Some were just a bit too intrusive. Did send an image of the Investment account showing CCL etc.

Waiting to hear back in a few days. Two cruises, $250 for each cruise is a nice little bonus.

Received emails confirming the $250 shareholder credit for both cruises. Submitted Sunday, completed Tuesday. Much faster than the old system. Cruise starts April 7, so 4 weeks away.

  4. In two weeks we could tell you exactly as we are in NS 5131, Apr 08 to 29. Florida to Rome.

Then change cabins to next door 5135 for Rome to Amsterdam, Apr 29 to May 14.

Unfortunately, we might be cancelling both cruises due to health. Should have bought cancellation insurance. Ouch! Oh, and flights and hotels. The best laid plans etc.

Right. I don’t think anyone disagrees with you there. I was specifically asking about rooms under the carpeted buffet seating area.

Carpeting is good. The thing to check is fire door thresholds. The carts really make a lot of noise going over them as we found out on deck 8. The threshold is metal and carries the sound rather well. They start up the carts really early. In any event, good luck and enjoy your cruise.

  6. For 15 months we have been waiting for the resumption of cruising.

Now that it is slowly starting up again, I realize that the pandemic has changed me.

At least for the time being. The thought of boarding a cruise ship with 2,000 people is not appealing at all. Then there is the Lido, main dinning, theatre etc.

I do hope it won't be a long term phobia but it is definitely there for me.

Perhaps, tomorrow I will wake up and life will be back to normal or the new normal.

  7. Yes, BC used to be the province others envied as far as covid cases. Now we are on the other end of things. This from our Provincial  Health officer;

With a record number of COVID-19 patients in intensive care and the average daily case count soaring, the provincial health officer pleaded Monday with British Columbians to not leave their neighbourhoods.

Still thinking about booking a cruise for next spring but no guarantee it will happen.

  8. I am curious. Were most of these cruises booked a year ago, in other words, before covid? Or during this covid pandemic? We are now in the "fear of missing out" stage for spring of 2022 but still think chances are slim for cruising by then. There is an enormous pent up demand and once everything opens up costs will sky rocket. That is if one is even able to find an available flight, hotel room, cruise etc.

  9. Interesting reading from up in Canada. Americans are frustrated trying to book appointments for the vaccine. We should be so lucky. It will be months yet for us. Canada hopes to have everyone who wants it, to be vaccinated by Oct./Nov.

Finally thinking about booking for the spring of 2022 but still not so sure HA will be sailing by then.

  10. Curious about those that are booking and cancelling numerous times. Do you have air, hotel, and transfers to cancel each time as well? It was difficult enough to obtain refunds for our March 2020 to not want to go through that again. It appears that we will/might have our vaccinations ( Canadians ) by the end of this year. Looking at Spring of 2022 for a cruise but will probably wait until we actually receive our vaccination before booking. Patiently waiting.

  11. We are assuming that vaccinations will be mandatory in order to resume cruising.

Can't see a meaningful start to cruising any other way. In Canada, they say that all those that want vaccinations should have them by December 31, 2021. So, possibly a spring 2022 TransAtlantic for us.

That is a long wait. We cancelled our 48 day March 2020 South America cruise and have been patiently watching and waiting since then.

From reading here, it appears that a lot of booking and cancelling has been going on. But then, who knew it would last this long.

  12. Way to go "Mein Schiff". You just set back cruising another 6 months or years.

Perception is everything. The public considers cruise ships, plague ships.

First Hurtigruten in Norway and now this.

With this nonsense, there will be no political will to restart cruising anytime soon.

Sorry for the rant. Couldn't help myself this morning.

Miss cruising and this is not helping.

  13. If a vaccine is available in 2021, then 2022 for us or perhaps 2023.

Would never have thought this in March.

Also, we have to consider whether it will be as enjoyable. The long lines at airport screening/security.

Embarkation may take hours. The thought of large crowds.

Fortunately, we have many fond memories and photos of past cruises.

Even earlier, memories of taking our own 30 foot sailboat through the Panama canal and stopping to swim in Gatun lake.

    So many moments.

  14. A pleasant surprise today. We cancelled our 48 day cruise on March 9 and were told by out PCC that the refund would only be in the form of a FCC. The cash refund showed up today on our Mastercard account. Called Mastercard, they are sending a direct deposit to our bank.

Delighted, as we are realistically thinking of 2022 for a cruise. Not booking ahead though. Wait and see how this all develops.

  15. At the moment we have a FCC. The requirements are that we book by Dec. 31, 2020 for a cruise in 2021.

Hopefully, the Dec. 31st date will be extended. If not, then we can foresee thousands of bookings being cancelled, then re booked and cancelled again and again.

It would be wonderful to look forward to a cruise, but the reality is, it may be a very long ways off.
