Many ports have dropped their rules against unvaccinated. Like Mexico ports and Belize. So my western Caribbean stops are all open to any visitor without a test or vaccines. But CDC required it up until this week, so carnival did. Maybe that will change soon.

Hopefully Eastern Caribbean ports will follow suit. Grand Turk is one of my favorite ports and you can’t go offshore unless you’re vaxxed.

  2. I was also on that cruise, LOVED IT! The food was much better this year than when we were on it last year! Everyone was so friendly and we had a blast! Had a bit of luck in the casino too which made it even better! Racked up a ton of points (12000), hope it brings some future perks!

  3. Almost positive HMC is not included with cheers. On Carnival the beverages that are included are non-bottled water, coffee, tea, punch and milk. I purchase cheers For a few reasons. First I'm on a cruise and I'm indulging. I also like my specialty coffees, bottled water and soda which are not included in the price of the cruise. Things add up. When purchase cheers on a 7 day cruise it cost $418 (with 15% gratuity added) about $60 a day. For me it's a bargain for others it not. And I don't get the bill at the end of the cruise. I like the cheers program and will continue to purchase it. And there's also the soda program for non drinkers.

We always get it, when they included the specialty coffee's, bottled water, soda, energy drinks and just about any high-end liquor up to $50 per drink, that's a bargain! I am a big coffee drinker and do at least 3-4 coffees a day. We also liked trying some of those really cool drinks at the Alchemy bar and the fact that you don't have to keep checking your sail and sign card is so worth it. Drinks add up and I like the convenience of not having to pay attention to how much I am spending on them! The last cruise we did, we had an onboard credit of $100 and did the Italian Rest and Steakhouse and maybe spent an additional $150 - $200 above that after it was all said and done. We got some photos etc and had a GREAT time on our 8 day cruise!

  4. Actually I have travelled extensively and have experienced 5 star accommodations, so I really don't need anyone to tell me that I don't know what expectations should be. And, for the record, anyone with money doesn't normally need to tell anyone they have money. Just thought I would share my definition of "class" since you think I need you to define "expectations."

And now, I will leave you to "troll on" dude.

    "Troll on" dude :'):'):'):')

  5. You can assign the cruise to a TA, but you still will not receive a refund if you must cancel. Since this ONLY applies to cruises booked onboard, assigning it to a TA after the cruise does not change the nonrefundable policy. I've already assigned to cruise to a TA, but there is no change in the policy. If I booked it with the TA, the original refund policies are still in place....this change ONLY applies to onboard bookings.
Wouldn't travel insurance with a "Cancel for any reason" clause through an independent company take care of that problem? I've done that in the past and had to cancel and got 100% of anything I had paid up unto the point of cancellation.
  6. I don't understand the grumbling of how old the passengers are. I have read disparaging remarks and reviews about nursing homes, walkers and scooters. I wonder if those griping will someday be courageous and adventurous enough to set sail when they are "old"!
My mom is 86 years old and still cruising strong, been on every line imaginable from HAL to Princess to RCI to Carnival and beyond, still does all the roller coasters at the Orlando theme parks too! Words she lives by are "A cruise is what YOU make it"
  7. the only part of OP post that interests me is virtually being kicked out of their table. why did you not go ballistic then? that would be totally appropriate id think even under the harsh CC standards the trolls on here have.

this IS your vacation and that was a crude and rude thing to say to you. perhaps saying 'do you require anything else from us this evening' would be better but not by much . and i have to say, if i was rushed i think i may be inclined to stay there a bit longer and call the manager over and tell them right then and there why ill be here a few more hours.

that person needs retrained to the Nth degree. i dont even think anyone else has said that to me in any circumstance in my life!

Oh I so agree with you! You should NEVER be "pushed" or hurried! You are on vacation and if they can't accommodate everyone then that's their problem not yours. I realize the capacity of ships have grown exponentially over the years but it that's the problem and they are having trouble accommodating guests than maybe they should think about maybe scaling back a bit to make their lives easier if it bothers them so much. There is no reason for that type of rude behavior and I would have been very upset.

Although I am waiting for someone to jump in and say if you want to linger and have top notch service and accommodation that maybe you should move to another cruise line or pay more for a more "private" experience. Wait for it ......

  8. I loved that ship!
The crowd was a little older when we cruised on her ( we were in our 30's) but it was actually a GREAT cruise and a great ship! We even had the pleasure of meeting John "Bowzer" Bowman formally of the group Sha Na Na, sat in the bar having drinks and shooting the breeze with him until the wee hours of the morning! GREAT time !
  9. I recently spoke to someone who has been on the Splendor and she told that she was totally disappointed in the food. Same food every day. My last cruise on Carnival was back in 2014 on the Sunshine, and I ate every night in one of the specialties restaurant and it was a great experience.
Actually I just got off the Sunshine (cruised 4/28 - 5/6) and the food was actually very good as it was the previous time I had cruised on her. Maybe it has to do with the chef and staff they have on board each individual ship as to why the food may be hit or miss. We did eat in the Italian Rest on the Sunshine and it was FANTASTIC as it was when we were on the Breeze last year. I guess the specialty restaurants are the way to go.
  10. I know. If you are calling me the Carnival police you are way off base there.

I was just playfully teasing you about the time you posted in between your first post, thus my emoticon.:)

NO NO NO! I wasn't calling you the thread police! I thought it was funny what you said! I was talking about other comments and threads that I have seen throughout the site at different times. I believe someone in the early parts of the thread accused me of being a troll and called for an investigation or something. :)
  11. There's not a whole lot to love with Carnival buffet food. I'll look at the carving station first and try to build a plate of food around that. On our recent Breeze cruise I found myself at Pizza Pirate more than anyplace for lunch.

Dinner found us three times at the MDR, once at the steakhouse, once at the Italian place and once at Chef's Table. I believe we ate at the buffet for dinner once, too.

I'm sorry to say I'm getting quite tired of Carnival's food. I'm really looking forward to the cruises I have booked on other lines because everything on the menus will seem brand new to me.

I hear you I am going to branch out and try another line just for comparison purposes, I have found that some Carnival ships have better food than the others, just my opinion. I just got off the Sunshine and the food was actually better than it was on the Breeze last year. I'm still not a fan of all of the "sauces" they like to drown their meat in though :')
  12. Ain't that the truth.

Seems to be the Sunshine's biggest flaw: when they removed public spaces for extra cabins, the passenger to space ratio went down. If the ship is anywhere close to capacity, it's a foot race for one of those loungers.

I just got off the Sunshine and had one of those "extra" cabins on the Promenade deck ... I LOVED our cabin, close to everything! I will definitely book one of these cabins again for our next cruise. This was my second cruise on the Sunshine and I have to say that this is my favorite ship, looking forward to my next cruise on board!
  13. We just got back from our cruise out of Port Canaveral Florida, We checked in during our assigned time window (1 - 1:30 pm) and were on board in less than 10 minutes! It was smooth and extremely fast. We went out of Miami last year and although we had an assigned check in time it was complete and utter chaos, the lines were long and it was more like a free for all. Maybe the port has a lot to do with the lines.

  14. Thanks for coming back to clarify that. You must have been busy the last 13 months.:p

    Bill

:'):'):') I really should pay more attention because I know the "post police" carefully scrutinize everything anyone says if it isn't positive and just for the record, I am honest about my personal experience and actually it's too bad for those who just can't accept that everyone doesn't always have the same experience.
  15. Last year a BJ tournament was out of Galveston. This year New Orleans. The big tournaments are not run very often so unlikely there is another to exchange it for. On the plus side the entries sell for around $50 on ebay and other web sites.
Thanks for the info, have you ever been on one of those cruises? I hear they are crazy crowded
  16. Just off the Sunshine, got the free interior cabin offer but there is nothing to choose from ... it was so nice when you could pick any cruise within the 6 month window, now it seems they are based on where they are having trouble booking cabins. It gives you 6 months but there is NOTHING offered for September or October and I just cannot turn around and take more time off within the next 4 months so I guess this "free" cabin is going to go to waste.

My husband also won the blackjack tourney and qualified for the 100K tourney. We are from Florida and I assumed that the tourney they would have offered him a seat in would have been from a port in our state but alas it is a cruise that goes out of New Orleans so I just don't know if it is even worth the expense to travel to take that cruise. Does anyone know if you can request a seat in one of the other 100K tourneys that go out of Florida or is that entry set in stone?

  17. It's 15 drinks total. If you already have CHEERS and then earn a DOU card, there is no additional benefit.
Unless you are a coffee drinker who likes the coffee bar, a smoothie and shake fan, energy drink drinker or drink other places than in the casino, in that case then the CHEERS card is of benefit to you
  18. We cruised the Breeze April 3 - 9 to Ocho Rios, Grand Cayman and Cozumel. We had been to GC and Coz before but this was the first trip to Ocho Rios. All in all we had a great time. All of the ports did not disappoint and we had plenty to do.

The ship, however, did not live up to my expectations. The food was horrible! The breakfast buffet had a variety but was the same every single day, the scrambled eggs were the equivalent of a sponge and completely inedible and the breakfast meats were greasy and under cooked. The bagels and toast were pre-toasted and sitting under a heat lamp making them hard, rubbery and old tasting. I am by no means a foodie but I was very disappointed in the quality as well as the taste of the food. The Omelette station was pretty much the only place to actually get "fresh" tasting eggs, but the line, early or late was at least a 25-30 min wait every single day, in or out of port. The Omelettes were very very good and worth the wait!

The tried the lunch buffet twice and found it absolutely terrible. The salads were pretty good but the entrees were just plain bad and not tasty at all. I don't understand why Carnival has resorted to covering every cut of meat or meat dish in some kind of sauce. It might be to cover the fact that they are using very low quality cuts of meat, but whatever it is, it's just not appetizing. Needless to say, The Guy's burgers were pretty much the lunch time go to place. One afternoon I decided to try the "Sea Dogs" but alas after trudging up there, I was informed that they had no hot dogs, just sausage. I was just a tiny bit upset but oh well. I remember the days of the lido grill with the grilled hamburgers and hot dogs available all afternoon and wish that were still an option. The deli was ok but I wasnt a big fan of the slapping the meat on pre-toasted bread and calling it a "grilled ham and cheese". Didn't try the BBQ as the lines were way too long and all I heard were people complaining that it just wasn't worth the wait.

The MDR was visited only once because of the bad service and sub par menu choices. I had ordered the beef tenderloin cooked medium rare and it was fatty, grizzly and hard to chew, again, it was covered in some secret sauce that was just terrible tasting. I ate one piece and left the rest on the plate. The baked potato came in a bowl, uncut but turned out to be the best part of the dinner. The wedge salad was good as it is hard to mess up lettuce and the dressings were very tasty. My son ordered the grilled Mahi Mahi and it was rubbery and tasteless. Disappointing to say the least.

The Italian restaurant on board was the best meal we had all week, but then again, I would expect it to be since we paid extra for it.

The room steward was very nice but very pushy, he was extremely irritated when we were in our room when he decided that he wanted to service it at 7 am in the morning. I asked him for an extra pillow and he was openly exasperated with the request.

The bartenders on board were the best! They always remembered who we were and what we drank and we never had to wait very long for a cocktail.

The casino staff was top notch and the casino wait staff was as well.

All in all, I liked the ship but I think it really needs some improvements in the culinary and staffing areas. I have never sailed anyone but Carnival and have always received the best service and enjoyed every other ship I have previously been on. The Breeze, however, just did not meet my expectations. Might be time to try another line or move back to the smaller ships.
