  1. We are starting to pack to go on the Marina next week.  I feel pretty prepared for the outdoor weather we expect, but I was wondering what the indoor temperature usually is during the day, particularly when you've been in the colder areas.  I've seen posts of people saying they wore tee shirts and shorts on board when in Antarctica, and I'd appreciate knowing what it's like on the Marina.

Wife and I are sailing in January.  I emailed my benefit request form and proof of share ownership on December 3rd, asking for an acknowledgement of receipt.  No response, nada, nothing.  Nothing on the Oceania website for my account.

Sent a follow-up on December 16th. Radio silence, black hole.  Nothing on the website.

Sent yet another follow-up on December 20th, copying InvestorRelations@nclcorp.com, NCL shareholder benefit email, and my guess at the ship's concierge and purser emails.  This morning (21st) received an email stating only "Benefit was added to your booking on December 6  as a SBC."  Still nothing on the website or any evidence of a credit.

My darling wife was somehow able to get Oceania on the phone.  The person said that they would process the request and that the credit would be applied as a "gift".  Wife managed to get them to send an email with a Guest Statement attachment, showing the correct gift amount.

Subsequent to this, the website this afternoon shows a "COMPLIMENTARY SHIPBOARD CREDIT - NCLH Shareholder" under Credits.  So the claim that the benefit was added on December 6th seems bogus.

Overall, a frustrating experience, and not the first time.  Surely this can be handled better?

What are your thoughts and experiences?

Mine was denied saying because I booked my cruise during their Summer Sale, it was ineligible.  Anyone manage to get the credit with a sale booking?

What is the status of  "no upcharge" in room movies on EDGE?

What's being shown elsewhere on the ship?

They have one daily movie shown 4 times in the Celebrity Central on deck 4. today’s is Shazam!  I haven’t been to any- mostly unappealing to me or I’ve been doing other things when they’re shown.

  4. I’m on the Reflection now and there are no free movies in the cabin. We couldn’t see how to connect a Roku or similar device to the tv, unfortunately, so we’re watching on an iPad.

Also, the library is pitiful now- it looks like the ship book inventory is almost gone and most of what’s there now are passengers’ discards; a lot of the books are not in English.

  5. I just got off the Viking Sea (Southern Med itinerary), and the port talks were much better than I've seen on other lines. The cruise director showed slides of the port and discussed highlights and suggestions for independent travelers. The shore excursion person gave practical advice and warnings about bathroom facilities, etc. It wasn't a sales pitch in any way, rather a realistic view of the options available. There was no discussion of shopping other than letting us know if there would be any available on the tours. They provided a lot of useful information and were presented in an entertaining way. The talks were available on TV a few hours later.

They had brochures with maps available at the customer service area and at the bottom of the gangway.

There were a few guest lecturers on board, but we only had the chance to hear a couple of them. They also are available later on the cabin TV. We were pretty busy with our tours so didn't have enough time to attend more.

  6. I suggest you call Viking directly if they have any categories available. We were able to get a much better cabin than we would have booked at a great price a couple of months before the cruise. They want to fill all the cabins, so it's worth checking.
