  1. Yes we did go.  The pool was not heated, they did have a jacuzzi.  The resort is small but was not crowded. The food was excellent and the drinks were actually exceptional. I have gone to many A.Is before and was impressed with the food and drinks here.  It is a good option if you are looking to relax.

  2. Absolutely. Hopefully we will be enjoying ourselves on board in a few hours. I did call ncl this morning and got through. I was wondering if the itinerary would be changed. The rep told me there was no indication of that at that point. I think we will have to see when we actually leave port.

  3. My MIL booked one to be near the pool since that's where our kids will be. It says it's for 4 guests...pictures I've seen show seating for at least 6...does anyone know if they enforce this all day or at all? There are 10 in our family...almost all of us will only use it to come chat with her some. That's why she booked it. Just wondering if and how they monitor this so we don't get there and get upset the kids can't come talk to her without a wrist band or something crazy like that! It's ridiculous what they charge in the first place for some chairs and shade by the pool at the port they built!

I am curious as well, thanks

  4. I wrote the below review after our EPIC cruise in March. I actually just spent 5 nights at Sandals Ochi last week as well. So if you have any questions let me know.

" We did the day pass last week and LOVED it. The day before the cruise I called the hotel directly at the number I posted above and confirmed availability. I also looked on-line at Sandals directly and saw they had many rooms available for that day.

The taxi ride was 10-15 minutes and cost $20 pp round trip. The day pass was $85 and worth every penny. I doubt I will ever go to Ochi and not do this again. We snorkeled, kayaked, ate and drank. I had stayed at the resort about 2 years earlier so I had the advantaged of knowing my way around because it is large. The snorkel trips are as I remember 11, 2 and 3. They also have a 10 am but I don't think you can get there that early. We ran right to the water sports desk and fortunately got in. If you want to snorkel do that first as the trips to get full."

  6. I only went to Bamboo so can not speak to Pearly. If you look at Bamboo reviews on this board you will see lately they are not very good. I have probably been on 20 cruises and Bamboo was my least favorite tour. The beach is very narrow and the day we were there they had a lot of seaweed. I realize weather was probably a factor with the seaweed. The service for food and drinks was very slow. If you go to the bar to get a drink yourself they made us and others pay for them. Not sure if that is a common practice but it was our experience. I would not recommend Bamboo Beach Club.

  7. I have visited this Sandals a few years ago and am considering getting a day pass for this March. I called a few weeks ago and was told the following. "Day passes are sold based on occupancy, you would need to contact the resort directly regarding prices and availability at about 3-2 days in advance. The direct phone number to Sandals Ochi is 1-876-974-5691."

While I have not paid for the day pass previously based on my previous visit I think it would be worthwhile. They did a lot of renovation about 2 years ago. The resort is gorgeous. My main concern is the taxi fare.

  8. I just back Sunday from MoBay Sandals if you have any particular questions. The beach is nice; not extremely long but nice. The drinks are good and we never had to wait. We also did not have any trouble getting chairs but you may have trouble finding an available umbrella. They have good water sports such as snorkeling, kayaks, skiing, and tubing. I am not certain if you are allowed to use all the facilities with a day pass but if you can and you are interested in snorkeling the trips were 9:30, 10:30, and 1. For lunch they have a buffet and beach location where you can get pizza and sandwiches, etc.

  9. I visited Bamboo Beach Club in March and I'm afraid to report I was VERY disappointed in it. The beach was small in both the width and length. I'm sure if it was the time of year such as storm season but the beach was also covered with seaweed. I know that is impossible to control but most other "resorts" or "clubs" make an effort to clean it up. I did not observe staff cleaning it up. I would not recommend it, which is not something I state lightly. Good luck.

  10. On port days we would estimate our time back (normally an hour before the required time) and had the butler deliver an assortment of wings and appetizers from O'Sheehan's. They were always delivered promptly as requested.

  11. I currently have the AFT cabin 11317 booked on the EPIC. I am trying to verify the balcony is large enough for a lounger. So far my research has not satisfied that curiosity. Has anyone had that room before or do you know of a better site I can use to determine it.

None of the end cabins are available so that is not an option but many other internal AFT cabins are so if there maybe a better cabin choice please share that as well. I am just short of a year out from planning.

    Many thanks

  12. Yes it is. Jana60 was asking about Jade.

I'm booking my ship entertainment as we speak...Yay! But I don't see reservations for the Comedy Club. Is that first come/first serve? So really all you have to have reservations for is, Legally Blonde, Illusionarium and Burn the Floor?

Once you get onboard you can make reservation on your TV for the comedy show, Howl at the Moon, and Grammy experience. I would do it soon upon arrival. Only the ones you mentioned can be pre-booked.

We were on the ship inAugust and are going back in March. I really enjoyed the ship and all its activities, hopefully you will too.

  13. That is what I was thinking. Thanks for the affirmation.

Was the road to St. Theresa's and Eagle Beach well marked through Auke Bay, etc. How was the traffic driving out there.

Sorry, I feel like a school kid with all the questions.

    Thanks again.:)

I easily found St Theresa's and Eagle beach, the roads were well marked and the roads were not busy. I did have some trouble finding the brewery if you plan on visiting it as well. Fortunately my smart phone worked.

  14. just booked a car for May 21 with Axis at the Goldbelt hotel in downtown Juneau using a coupon and got the daily rate for economy car of $48' date=' or $55 with fees and taxes (it was $75 with no coupon). The Juneau Car Rental company was $63 for a midsize rental.

Planning to drive to Alaska Brewery to take their tour ( and hubby can try free samples of their ale) and then go to Mendenhall Glacier / Nugget Falls -- depending on the time, we will also go shopping and see what else we have time for. We are only in port from 2 pm - 10pm.[/quote']

We rented from Avis last May and visited the same sites plus Shrine of St. Therese and Eagle Beach.

It was great being able to stay as long as we wanted especially at Mendenhall. Plus its nice not having to rush to a bus stop; the cost was so worth it. The walk was simply; maybe 15 minutes from exited the ship for a healthy walker.
