  1. When you go through the part where they scan your carry on and u walk through the metal detector they make you throw it away.

I asked them if I could dump the water out and keep the empty container and they said yes. This was the first time they made me dump it out, just filled it at the hotel that morning. I always carry an empty bottle in my backpack thur plane security then fill it when I get to the gate so I have it on the plane.

  2. The very best I ever saw was many years ago on either the Holiday or Jubilee. He was a ventriloquist with a duck for a puppet. I almost had to be given oxygen because he had me laughing so hard. That duck had a very interesting perspective on life....especially on women wearing skirts.

We saw Dave and the Duck many years ago on several RCI cruises, he was good, he came to our private party and really put on a show for us. Loved him. Always hope he will be on a ship but haven't seen him in quite a few years. We did buy his video tape (that's how many years ago it was) and occasionally watch it and laugh just as hard as the first time we saw it. ;)

  3. We just saw Happy Cole on the Glory , both of his shows had us rolling on the floor.

Saw Happy Cole years ago on the Destiny (when it first came out), never laughed so hard in my life, didn't realize he was still on the circuit. Would love to see him again. By far the funniest cruise comedian I have seen.:D

  4. In June we were on the Freedom and had dinner with a couple (in their 80's) who sold everything and live on cruise ships. They are from California originally, he writes and spends a lot of time on the computer. They had done a btb on the Freedom (16 days) and were getting off and spending a week "on land" to do banking and doctor appointments. They have their car with all their possessions in it. After the week on land they were doing 5 cruises on Princess (I believe they were going to Europe). They have been around the world several times. They were a very interesting couple and made for a very interesting dinner.

  5. I have a few questions if you guys don't mind helping me out:

Can you purchase a tervis tumbler from the Red Frog Pub and/or Blue Iguana Cantina? If so, do they sell out fast?

Where and when do you sign up for the Dr. Seuss brunch?

I've asked this before but can't seem to nail down an exact answer: does the Freedom use soda cans or soda guns for the bottomless bubbles refills?

Does the Freedom have those not-so-well known hot tubs in the spa area like on the Glory?

How long do the pools and the slide stay open?

I'm so excited I can hardly stand it. Never been on a Conquest-class ship! So many cruise firsts for us! Can't wait. Just a few weeks left:D

The slide stays open till sunset, the pools stay open till 12am. No kids with us so don't know where and when for sign up for Dr Seuss brunch, but I do know it was the last sea day. Just found it on one Wednesdays FUNTIMES, call 32323 from 10am to 10pm.

  6. I thought they did away with the print version a while back?? Have they brought the print version back? awesome ! I miss it too.. I used to enjoy flipping through the pages dreaming of my next adventure.

They did do away with the print version in 2011 (I believe), saying no more brochures, must have gotten enough complaints, just brought out a new print brochure this year. I think the print brochure is so much easier and faster than looking all this up on a computer, trying to compare decks etc.

  7. We did Trikes Aruba and really had a good time. Also did Seavis Tour in DR, had some issues with the vans and boats being pretty crowded, also our van driver picked us up 20 mins late on the way back to the ship. Overall it was nice, could have been better. Definitely would do Trikes Aruba again.

  8. We were on the 8 day June 22 cruise on the Freedom and really had a good time. The staff was extremely friendly, we had Anytime Dining and had no problems getting a table right away. Rarely went to the Lido for dining of any meal (just not buffet eaters). Did go to the Deli and Pizza and Mongolian Wok, all very good. Loved Guys Burgers and the Mexican Burritos. Ate at the Brunch twice, very good, loved the different menu. Steak and eggs was a filet and eggs, very good. Ate all our evening meals in the dining room. Enjoyed most of the entertainment (didn't like the first show much), but did enjoy the others. Piano Bar and group at the Casino Bar were both very good, the comedians were also good. Had lots of trivia and like games during the day. Movies at night.

Itinerary was good, even though there were lots of kids on the ship they were never a problem, never saw a kid in the adult only pool or area. Apparently the kids programs were well attended the week we were on the ship. Overall, great cruise.

  9. JudyOh, I know what you mean about table hogs. If they want to just sit and talk or play cards why can't they go to the library or Promenade deck?:D Pink

These tables were not in use, just their stuff, towels, books, etc sitting on them holding them like the chairhogs do.

  10. Just got an offer from Carnival for a free inside room. I am so excited. Just have to pay taxes so it will only be $229 for both hubby and I. Didn't think hubby would want to go in an inside room but he's ok with it. Going go on the Pride for a 7 day eastern carribean.

You can upgrade, we did to a balcony for $80 a person.

  11. I think it has something to do with the casino - but I've never been a big spender in there. I haven't been on a carnival cruise in awhile and I think they want to temp me back!!! We were booked on a celebrity for March, but I'm going to cancel that and the deposit will almost cover the cruise!

It has nothing to do with the casino (they do offer some deals but this free cruise is not thru the casino), we don't spend a penny in the casinos and we got the letter the last round in March. Sailing on the Freedom June 22.

  12. I would rather use a Carnival PVP, I went to a TA a couple of weeks ago for a Carnival book , there like they haven't had them out for years and I'm like oh CC said there out and they see dumb founded. Another time my DW was wondering about the Breakaway so im like do you have any books on the Breakaway and they were like UH? What's the breakaway!

Sent from my iPhone using Forums

The TA was correct, Carnival has not had a brochure out since their 2009-2011. I read somewhere that they had new ones out but Carnival does not know anything about them. I am a TA and would love to have a new brochure, so much easier looking up cabins (how forward, mid or aft a cabin is, what is on the deck above or below, etc). My district sales manager said they aren't going to have one anymore, sure hope the rest of the cruiselines don't follow suit.

  13. In the past all you would have to do is downgrade to an inside, since they have all these different sales that might make a difference. If the PVP won't do it or insist that you will love your deposit, insist on speaking to a Supervisor. They do not like to switch you over but be persistent. Just keep going up the chain of command till you get the answer you want. You can call 5 times and get 5 different answers.

  14. As a TA I've gone thru this for years, not only with Carnival but all the cruiselines. Ask their name, how do they spell that, write down the day and time you spoke with them. If you call back and get different answers do the same thing and insist on talking to a Supervisor, they do have Supervisors there. It is totally frustrating.

  15. I'm doing a surprise 16th birthday cruise for my daughter this summer. She has no idea. The cruise was paid in full months ago. I have gas money put back and gift cards to cover the cost of meals on the drive down and home that I've been saving. I've already paid for parking. I have reservation for the night before at a motel but I can stay with my sister four hours from port and drive down the day of if I have to. I was not worried about money for the cruise until in the same month my work cut hours and my ex has decided not to pay his child support any more so financially I'm stressed right now and don't see that changing before the cruise. Is it possible to go on the cruise and still have a great time without all the extra stuff. Has anyone done it or should I just cancel. I've been on one four day cruise before and I thought I was being cheap but still spent $500. I'm not a drinker. Last cruise I had one drink the whole time so I'm not worried about that. I'm not a spa person at all. I loved the bingo games last time and would love to do them but could do without. I'm not a gambler. I lost $10 in slots on my last cruise and never went back. I was really wanting to do the steak house but don't think I need to spend the extra money just for food. I don't want to be in port stuck the ship since I don't have lots of money for a excursion. What do you do when you have little or no money for excursions? We are going to Cozumel, Grand Cayman, and Montego Bay. I've been crunching the number and think I can do around $150 per person for extras while on the cruise. Am I being unreasonable?

It can be done. One of the nicest beaches in Grand Cayman is 7 mile beach, we took a cab to it the last time and decided to walk back along the beach to the ship (we were mid=60ish) and had no trouble walking back. Just make sure you take a bottle or two of water, we had planned on the taxi back and didn't have anything to drink and were mighty thirsty. Take a couple of bottles of water on board with you, refill and put in frig, no need to buy bottles of water continuously. If soda drinkers, take your own on board. Read the boards, lots of ideas. Stay away from Bingo, and all the money grabber things, lots and lots to do for free. Make the best of it, you can still have a good time without a $500 tab at the end. Montego Bay might be iffy, sometimes the Jamaican ports aren't real friendly and they advise to take a tour or stay on the ship. When the ship is empty you have everything to yourself, no lines, best pool chairs, pools to yourself etc. Have a good time!

  16. Paid $1 for a lime at Krogers in Cincinnati the other day. Nice size and nice quality, can't drink a G&T without a lime! Lemons just don't cut it. Guess I'll bring a couple with me in June, or maybe a small bottle of lime juice.:p
