  1. My husband and I will be sailing on the Radiance in June.  We have not sailed in a few years so have some questions. We will be using wheelchair assist to embark and disembark. When we choose our boarding time should we pick something early or middle of the boarding times? I think I read that even if you go with the earlier time the cabin may not be ready so I wonder how they handle this with disabled passenger, do they allow you to stay in the cabin?

Also, if you can tell me how Carnival handles the muster checkin.  My husband uses a walker but we are also thinking of bringing a transportation

chair so he can see more of the ship.  I appreciate any information you can share with us.

  2. He does not have stage 1. He has had the disease for over 10 years and has many issues with the main one being bent spine syndrome. His Neurologist is a Parkinson's specialist as well as movement disorder specialist and does not believe in assigning stages. He has been thru some pretty tough times but

fights hard every day. He also has a pretty extensive list of drugs and last summer started a fairly new drug. We have been through some tough times but if our experience can help you just ask, we certainly understand where you are coming from.

  3. My husband has had Parkinson's for over 10 years and most of the time is pretty stable. We had not traveled during covid but sailed on HAL Koningsdam for Thanksgiving 2022. He uses a walker and we alway get an accessible cabin. We flew southwest from Phoenix to San Diego and overnighted before

the cruise. Is there a specific question that I can answer for you?

  4. Thank you all for your help. My husband is not able to do a bench tub or it is also called a

transfer tub. With the help of HAL special service we were able to find a cabin but had

to upgrade to a Neptune suite.  We would have had major issues if I had not called to check

on the bathroom as the description they have was not correct. If anyone is familiar with this

cabin we would love to hear about it. Thanks again.

  5. My husband and I are booked in Cabin 8068 on the Westerdam to Alaska. I was able to obtain this cabin as I thought it would work best for him. As I was getting

ready to make a scooter reservation I wanted to check the HAL Guest Accessibility to ask some questions. One of my questions was regarding the bathroom

to see if it was a walk in shower. The gentlemen told me this cabin has a bench tub. My husband disease is progressive  so I want to make sure it is something he is comfortable with.  I need some help as I have not heard this term. The gentlemen tried to explain it to me but it sounds like he would sit on this bench and then have to swing his legs of into the tub.  Lifting his legs is difficult for him so I would appreciate if you can tell me if I am correct. All of the other features he could use, no steps into the bathroom and the balcony. They sent me photos but of the room only. Any help is appreciated.

  6. I appreciate all of your replies. This shut down involved all water and bathrooms on board. When speaking with the room steward we were told not to put water in the toilet and not to flush it. No information was given to us by customer service on board. They said it was just maintenance but it seems like an ongoing issue. Maybe 4 hours is not a lot to some people but when you are in your 70's and visit the bathroom a few times a night it becomes a problem. Also how do you know it is only going to be 4 hours. I thank

    chengkp75 for the response.

  7. Florida Gal I knew there was something that is not right. I agree it is not because someone flushed something they shouldn’t have. That is a fixable problem. I am a little concerned it could take longer than 4 hours. Guest services told us to call room service and they will deliver a pitcher of water, not sure what that will do for using the toilet. I thank you for your reply. I have talked to others earlier in the cruise that are on a back to back so word that this happened last week will be getting out quickly.

  8. We are sailing on the Miracle RT from San Francisco.  On the return the ship docks at 8am and is the only ship in port that day.  Is it possible to make a 12:05p flight from SFO. We will be checking luggage on the ship and need to check luggage at SFO.  We will take Uber to SFO and have TSA precheck .  I appreciate the help.

  9. I would like to make a reservation for the steakhouse on the Miracle, I understand we now need to prepay this reservation. Can anyone tell me if we have to cancel this cruise (we will have insurance) or decide to cancel the reservation, is it refundable.

  10. We will be traveling on the Miracle and the first night of the cruise is our anniversary.  I have read they have a free wine offer for the first night of the cruise (this is a 5 day), can I make a reservation now and get the wine or do you have to wait til we get on board?

  11. Thank you both for your help.  I will check out all the Seattle hotels you gave me.  We are going to be in

Vancouver on the 8th of May.  I don't think the YMCA would be something we are interested in.  As far as the

sandwiches are concerned just thought there maybe a store or cafe we could purchase them at the day before

and hopefully the room would have a small fridge.  I was looking at the Hampton Inn on Robson street...Is that a

safe area and do you know if there are any restaurants within walking distance. We may need accessible room depending on the shower and I always contact the hotel directly.  Just want to make sure that we have a restaurant near by - we can always take a taxi for dinner.  The 24hr Tim Hortons sounds good for an early morning snack.

  12. Our cruise is arriving in Vancouver on a Fri AM.  We are planning on spending a night in Vancouver and taking the early train to Seattle.  We could use some help with Hotels in Vancouver, we need one that has a restaurant on property or within a couple of doors away as husband uses a walker.  It would be great if we could pick up some sandwiches for the train. We can take a cab to train station as we will be checking luggage on train.  Hotel maybe between 150 to 200 per night.  On arrival in Seattle we are going to rent a car for a few days before we fly home.  We have been to Seattle before so we are looking to get out of the city.  If anyone can suggest a resort that would have restaurants attached to it that would be great.  Don't want to have to leave the property for meals.  Any help would be great. Thank you.

  13. I have posted on the disabled site as well but it is not as active as this board.  We are looking at cruising on Oosterdam or Eurodam but need an accessible cabin which I know will have a walk in or roll in shower. My question is does the balcony cabin also have a seating area like a mini sofa?  Holland America reservations said they do not show that in the deck plan.  I am looking a cabin 6049 on the Oosterdam right now but can change cabin or ship to get the right fit for what we need.  Thank you.

  14. We are looking at the Oosterdam or the Eurodam ships.  We need an accessible cabin with walk in shower but want to make sure we have a seating area and balcony.

Can anyone tell me if the accessible cabins on these ships have walk in or roll in shower and a sitting area in the cabin, like a mini sofa?  We sailed on the Eurodam in a regular balcony and I think it had a tub/shower which will not work for my husband.
