Thanks for the input. We are also on the May 5 Legend in 7223. I have mixed feelings with this type of cabin as you responders do but we are booked and we shall see how it goes.

Do the recessed balcony cabins on the Legend have worse views that the rows of balconies that extend outward. I was told the balconies are larger on these cabins. Anyone with experience with this type of balcony? Thanks.

My only problem with aft balconies is the lack of privacy (people looking down from above) and the noise from the ships wake.

Does anyone know the condition of Orient Beach at this time? We will be in St. Martin in about two weeks.

We have booked a Land and Sea Tour with Spencer Ambrose. At one point we have a choice of mud baths or volcano viewing. Does anyone know which choice is more interesting, fun, more or less physically demanding? Thanks.

We were at Cockleshell Beach in May 2013 and the main beach bar was the Reggae Beach Bar (it's on the far left side of the beach if you're facing the water). They used to have a pig there, but he apparently passed away several months before we were there. It was the beach at the southern tip of St. Kitts with views of Nevis. Our ride was $7.00 and I think we rented loungers/umbrella for $5.00 near the bar. I did a review of our cruise (Carnival Valor, May 2013) and the link is in my signature. On page 14 I have pictures posted of Cockleshell beach, unfortunately none of the Reggae Beach Bar up close. There is another bar (forget name) half way down the beach. Hope this helps.
That is the beach I was thinking of! We had a nice day there and pretty good food at the grill. Thanks very much!

A couple of years ago we took a van to the beach and I think it was cockleshell. There was a bar and restaurant, nice beach with chairs to rent, loud reggae music was playing. The shuttle ride was inexpensive as I recall (maybe $7 pp each way?) Does this sound familiar to anyone? Thanks very much.

Any recommendations for the best place to get chairs, umbrellas and good food at Orient Beach? Thanks.

Thanks, John, for all the info about the Elation... I enjoyed the pics... we really did have fun (2001) and we took our daughter who was 16 at the time. I

My first cruise was on the Elation in 2001 to the Mexican Riviera. It was August and hot as hell but we were having a great time anyway. After about 5 days, most people on the ship got sick with a virus including my wife and I. After barfing like crazy, I was getting dressed and my wife asked my where I was going and I said "to the midnight food/chocolate exhibit, of course!" She just rolled her eyes and went back to sleep. We weren't sure we would ever cruise again, but we did and have had several great trips since then! (also got a 24 hour virus on the Yangtse River. The Chinese doctor who didn't speak english gave me some magic powder and I felt much better!!
