We have done this several times. Just bring your confirmation as back up, but we have never had a problem with it being applied. Have a great trip!

Did you encounter any issue getting off the ship before Norwegian's tours? We are going on Epic next year and wanted to take private excursions. We ran into an issue on another cruise line who refused to let us off the ship until all the cruise line excursion groups had exited the ship first. We were not happy about it. Just wondering if Norwegian has that same policy or if any one can get iff at any time? Thanks for sharing your trip information. Looks like you had a wonderful time! Great pictures!!

We did a tour with History Walks in December. Peter was our guide, and he was phenomenal. You can tell he loves history, and our tour was really interesting. He sent us a lot of material prior to the trip to read if we wanted to have some context before the walk. Then, after we got home, he sent us more information, pictures and links. It was great! The walk is at a good pace. Definitely worth it, and highly recommend it. We did have a stop about half way through for hot chocolate/tea which was very nice. This walk is also listed on the Trip Advisor site. Small group size was nice. There were 5 guests in our group. Perfect size. We highly recommend it.

Whatever tour you decide to take, or if you decide to go on your own, I am sure you will have a wonderful time. It's a very walkable city, and everything is close. Lovely city!

I agree Sapphire... here's hoping for some rain soon... Our cruise leaves 12/12. Even if my trip gets disrupted though due to low water I plan to make the best of it. After all.... We'll be in Germany/France in December, with holiday decorations, Christmas markets, good food, new friends.... what more could you ask for? :) (well... besides more vacation time.) :)

Thanks notamermaid! I still have a few weeks to go (about 7 until we fly over then another week after that until our cruise ). So plenty of time to get a little more rain, right? I can't wait to see the Christmas markets in the different towns!! I am sure it is beautiful to see and experience. Can't wait to try the food, too!! :)

Notamermaid - how are the Rhine levels looking after the rain? Any better? We still have a few weeks to go but would love to hear about more rain! :)

I assume you are asking about Freiburg. We left the ship at the same time as the Black Forest group and returned at the same time. We left at 8:45 and returned at 12:30. The trip to Freiburg was much shorter than the Black Forest so we were in Freiburg from about 9:00 until shortly after noon. Our guide for this trip was from Freiburg and did a great job of walking us through the old town and center of town and giving us a real feel for the history of the place. It was charming.

Just returned from this cruise. It was fantastic! We added the Lucerne extension and did the Golden round trip to Mt Pilatus. Every day of this cruise was wonderful and the ship and crew were just outstanding! A great deal of thought and planning has been put into this by Viking. Please note: Viking listened to all the negative feedback they were getting about the Black Forest trip and added a free option to Freiburg...what a lovely and liveable city Freiburg turned out to be...one of my favorite places on the trip.

We went on a private tour with TJ travel and had a wonderful time! I would highly recommend them, and would use them again.

I just started in July. It definitely works. Are you on the MF board? What is your user name and I'll friend you over on the MF boards. I don't want to post my weight in here - LOL But, I've lost almost 20 lbs so far. I started MF originally for our cruise next June, but DH and I planned a last minute cruise recently (only a couple weeks to go!). I'm going to try the 4/2 while on board and I'll let you know how that goes! I'm a little nervous about it because I have been faithful to the 5/1 plan. I am doing the TSFL also. My coach has been very good about getting back to me on questions quickly.

MF definitely works. I used to do WW but it didn't work for me anymore (since I started having thryoid problems). I was told about MF and it was kind of a last resort. I'm a slow loser, but I'm losing, and I'm thrilled with that!

Yes there are some mini-van types; just ask at the taxi rank. However, the majority of taxis in Vancouver now are Prius or Corollas.

Does anyone know if Vancouver has taxi's that accomodate 4 people with luggage? (Something like a van or SUV?) We'll have 4 people leaving from the train station area to the pier, and would all like to go in one cab if possible.

Do we need to make advanced reservations? Or, is it something we can just grab outside that morning? Not sure how common they are, or if they are even available.
