  1. The problem with this question is everyone has a different opinion and it is your vacation so your opinion is the only one that matters. I will give you my opinion since you asked. I have been on both lines and feel it is no comparison. Royal wins. However, if you go in with a positive outlook, whether your vacation is on land or sea, you can have the best vacation possible. Make the most of your vacation. You don't need others to do it for you. Whatever you choose, have a blast!!

  2. You have been given lots of good thoughts to think about. I will add my two cents. I just got off the gem. It is an older ship, but has been refurbished and looks great. I love the fact that the ship is not too big and not too small. Both Royal and NCL are great cruise lines. You can only decide which is right for you. Ask yourself the following

    1. Warm weather or cold?

    2. bigger or smaller ship

    3. ports or ship?

  3. I have epilepsy and couldn't say it better than Ocean Boy. First of all, we are only hearing one side of the story. Also, people with epilepsy should be treated different. There are things you shouldn't do alone, activities you shouldn't do at all. As for Royal saying your daughter is unable to stay onboard the ship, they safety of my child would come first before any vacation. Royal had no idea of your childs medical history or did you let the doctor examine her. You really didn't give them a choice.

  4. My daughter has autism and is high functioning. As you already know, the autism spectrum is extremely broad. We cruised NCL and I can't stress enough to notify special needs department regarding your child. Norwegian was wonderful in trying to make my child as comfortable as possible. Your child sounds like he will not have a hard time at all. They will repeat instructions. All kids, with a diagnosis or not, need things repeated. I hope your cruise experience is a fun one for you and your family.

  5. I have been on Carnival, Royal, NCL, and Celebrity. Lets face it, any cruise line is a cruise so you can't go wrong. However, I am partial to Royal. Classy with lots of activities. Was always treated like royalty and decor is beautiful.

Carnival is my least favorite - it just does not compare to the rest. It would be my last choice. The decor is loud. If you like obnoxious and lame pool games, then this is your cruise line.

NCL - In my opinion, NCL has the best suite perks. Not as fancy as Royal, but not as cheap as Carnival.

Celebrity - Most comparable to Royal. I was on this ship when they had smaller ships. I honestly don't know how the bigger ships are.

Hope you enjoy your cruise! No matter what you choose, go with a positive outlook and you will have a great time.

  6. Call Royal at 1800-327-6700 and tell them you joined Mlife. They will ask you questions like what is you crown and anchor #, when is your next cruise date, what is your mlife account #. That will link the two c&a and mlife together and you will have the benefits of mlife. They will tell you that on the phone.

  7. My husband isn't crazy about cruises, but mainly goes for me. In turn, I go away to football weekends with him (so he owes me, big time). My suggestions for you would be to try to get an itinerary with a not too many sea days. That way the ship won't be moving as much. Also, the best location for your cabin to be if he has motion sickness is mid-deck on the lower levels. Also inside cabins feel less motion. Good luck!!

  8. I want to start by apologizing if this is taken wrong. I do not mean this in a bad way. I just want to say everyone has different ways of living and you are all on vacation. Relax and enjoy. There are plenty of places to eat. If you don't like the time or the way one place has dinner, go somewhere else. No need for all the complaining. Hope everyone enjoys their cruise.

  9. I also take medication and it is the first thing I pack. I need this more than anything else. The most important thing is to carry it in your carry on. I really don't think the cruise line cares how you bring it on the ship. I always bring it in the original pill bottles. I put all the bottles in a ziplock bag to keep them together. However you decide to do it, have fun on your cruise.

  10. I don't understand all the negativity. You are on a cruise. Enjoy! Norwegian clearly states the terms. It is $50.00 per port. If you were able to go on an excursion cheaper on your own, why didn't you? Norwegian has the best perks out of all cruise lines. Just a suggestion, look at the positives. You will have a better time.

  11. Before I realized the Special Needs department provided the water and extension cord, I used to bring my own cord and had no problem. Now I do go through the Special Needs department, but I also need the distilled water.

Whatever you decide to do, enjoy your cruise.

  12. I am aware in Belize a tender is needed and people who booked excursions with the ship get first priority. I booked an excursion on my own with latest departure at 10:00. Can you please give me your opinion if I will be able to make it? The ship will be in port from 8:00.

    Thanks!
