  1. Glad to hear you are still cruising Scary Mary.

We are following up North Cape and Arctic Affair with Iceland this year, but of course it has to be with Fred, not Thomson, so will be interesting to see how they compare.

Yes still cruising Malch got next years booked but would love to go to Iceland. It was going to be the next one for us with Thomson

Would love to hear what you think of Fred as we will have to go with them to Iceland. Just a bit nervous of going with someone different as we love Thomson.

Have a good time not long now.

  2. We have just got back from the Celebration don't know what health and safety issues she could be referring to. Everything was fine, there was a problem with the thrusters but that was soon fixed and didn't effect our cruise.

Had a great time and would go back tomorrow if I could.

  3. We've also just returned from Arctic Affair. Beginning to get ship ready for platinum, we had tea and coffee facilities in cabin. Ship was kept spotlessly clean and the staff were brilliant. My only complaint was the dinner menu in MDR choice of food was not as good as previously and some nights we had to eat in Lido as we didn't like the menu. There seemed to much spicy food on the menu. An example is on the last night the main course choices were

    Tilapia (fish)

    Beef Stroganoff

    Chicken Tandoori

    Spegetti Bolognase

None of which I am keen on.

But the food in the Lido Buffet was very good, not forgetting the puddings with custard.

Agree with you about the food. It was ok but not as good as previous cruises.

  4. We were on this cruise too. What a fantastic one it was. Like you we had previously done the North Cape and knew this would be a once in a lifetime itinery so we had to do it. So pleased we did.

Couldn't fault anything and the crew were amazing never had to wait for drnks and the service in the Compass Rose was great.

We went to most of the shows and enjoyed them also enjoyed the other acts - the 2 comedians and the singer.

Met some lovely people and of course lovely crew especially the gang in Horizons, Alex, Colin and Vincent. Didn't want to get off.

  5. Thanks Mary, we had lots of reports back on facebook- it certainly looked a good cruise and you had fabulous weather didn't you?

    Hi Linda

Everything on the cruise was fabulous, no complaints at all had a great time.

    Hi Jean

Lovely to meet you too and all the others. What a fantastic cruise it was. Oh yes loving the mountains of washing now. NOT.

  6. Hi Mary, we are going to the Azores and would really like to do the whale watching trip there but it is on a R.I.B. so have decided not to bother. I would frankly be terrified:eek:, and I haven't had knee surgery so I can completely understand your concerns.

Hi Happy this is what bothers me would love to do it the knees not so much of a problem but the those small boats terrify me.

Aerobics 9876 it is the Isfjord Safari Boat Adventure from Spitsbergen would love to do it but probably wont. Its a trip around the island with a chance of seeing whales seals etc. Really looking forward to this cruise.

Hi Kruzseeker yes we have done quite a few of the places but have not been to the Lofoten Islands, Bronnoysund and Spitsbergen. We enjoyed the last cruise so much we are looking forward to going back and even further north.

I haven't seen any confirmation for the Spirit next year must have missed that one.

  7. I don't think Thomson are doing ex-UK next year Mary. It looks as if they are all going to be in the Med :( so glad we booked Fire and Ice for this year.

Sorry to hear you are still having trouble with your knee and still having pain from it. Hope the docs can sort it out.

Can't help with other ports I'm afraid. Kruzseeka probably can :D:D

Someone put on FB that Head Office had told them they were still doing ex UK in 2015 so fingers crossed

  8. Hi Linda

Thanks for info but we have done these places went on the North Cape in 2012 absolutely loved it.

You have a good memory. Knee still not good. Have changed consultants but because I have good movement and the replacement is where it should be they cannot understand why it is still swollen and painful. Checking now for infection and if cannot find anything looks like more surgery. :(

Its one of the new locations I am trying to find out about. It sounds a brilliant boat trip to see whales etc. but if its one of those large dinghy things where you are all packed in with life jackets on think I will pass on it bit too scarey for me.

We nearly choose Fire and Ice wanting to do that one but decided on the Arctic again. Hoping to do F + I next year.

  9. Hi

My husband has to have a GF diet and I agree with everything Jules has said. We have been on all the Thomson ships and have had no problems at all except we were the ones that had the problem with the Majesty.

This should have been sorted now as the staff were all going to be given extra training. Thomson do look at gluten free requirements very seriously.

We never take anything extra because as Jules says there is plenty of choice anyway.

  10. I have just seen on fb Fred Olsen, Holland America and Seabourn have made a donation to the disaster fund and have made it so people can donate to this through them.

Come on Thomson where are you. I am sure lots of people would donate it's the least we can do.

Sorry if I have missed something and there is already somewhere to donate.
