I do not believe that any Carnival ships have steps to enter pools.  Some other cruise line ships do tho.

Thanks, I know some HAL, Celebrity and Princess ships do. I wish Carnival would especially in the serrenity pools.

  2. Tipping is so personal and cultural.  When I first cruised 30+ years ago I believe it averaged about $10 a day. (Divided by room steward, waiter, assistant, head waiter, sommelier, etc.)  Considering 30 years later and its only $5. more a day?  I do tip extra, while we all have anytime dining, if we find a waiter we like we request that section and tip at the end of the cruise, though I have considered leaving a little each day. At this point I think I am middle of the road.  EXCEPT for my one area,  10% on a casino win???  Where are they all the days I leave losing?  Neither on land or sea has anyone said, Connie, having a rough day?  Let me put 50 on your account!!!!   LOL!!!   Leaving Saturday on another cruise, great sailings to you all!!!

p.s. I like the chips/candy idea but too difficult to pack and either not crush or melt.

Will the weight eventually impact upon the integrity of the bridge structure I wonder?  I am also aware - and have seen - similar situations are various places around the world.

SIde note to Steelers, I saw your signature, but email missing and message app disabled.  We're scheduled on the Regal 10/14/22 followed by the 14 day Island RT out of Rome.  email me at connieb127 at yahoo.com  Haven't decided on our 5 day inbetween.

  4. I think I have this straight but looking to more experienced Carnival sailers to verify.  "Funplay" credits are applied to your card and you can use them in the casino? Is there any restriction?  Regular "OBC" can be used anywhere on the ship as credit? shops, specialty dining, drinks, excursions? Is that right?  Thanks in advance.

  5. Thanks you all for your input. Honestly the last time I worried about a kids rate was almost 20 years ago, and now with upcoming grandchildren. LOL. I somehow think it is reasonable for full rate at an age when they can take advantage of the children's programs, go to dinner etc. BUT, since it will be a family vacation, we will bite the bullet and pay up. And thanks to all for the reminders to keep looking for those promotions even after booking. Happy Sailing all.

  6. Of course on the "oh so user friendly" Celebrity website I cannot find this anywhere, are infants under the age of 2 charged as a full 3rd person fare? Just checking for the future, son and dil, NOT us! LOL

    Thanks all,

    Connie

  7. Sailing on a Celebrity ship (older demographic) through the Panama Canal last year, I was on a lounger in the pool area, family was all in different activities, the woman next to me put down her book, went for a quick dip then came back and changed chair side to her shorts. I am not talking threw her shorts over her swimsuit, I am saying stripped down to skin, got dressed, went to lunch then changed back into her suit. I am looking around the whole time, thinking does anyone else see this???? Not that I could see or they were better at hiding it than I was. LOL

  8. I read this with a smile, our last 4 cruises have been with either family or friends, our next one in May, is just my husband and I and he has repeatedly warned me NOT to ask anyone to join us! LOL Wants to be just us and not deal with anyone else, little does he know all the roll call get togethers I committed us to! Either way you travel, enjoy. Try not to judge others as we never know what their life has been like.

  9. Where else to go with a cruise question but all the experienced cruisers on cruisecritic? We booked a Concierge guarantee cabin on the Edge sailing next January 2019. The sailing is showing as sold out on all categories except inside and suites. Are they waiting for cancellations? or moving us to another sailing? has anyone experienced this and what happened? Thanks in advance!

  10. We had taken this cruise Dec. 17th, very full with alot of families. Service was not what we had in the past but I figured it was the difference in guests. BUT, your comment about the shows and the lack of vocal talent was SPOT ON. I don't expect Broadway or Vegas level productions but these were the worst ever. Could never get my son (age 29) to go to any show except a comedian. Yes, we still had a nice time, enjoyed our week, have 2 more booked on X, including the Edge next January. So we aren't deterred just hopeful for a better experience next time.

  11. Thanks for checking out the review. I hope the fix works for you. Unfortunately I cannot go back and edit a post at the beginning to describe the fix there. Anyway I hope you enjoy the pics. :)

Loved the pictures, makes me want to go all the more! Great job. (But I thought the same thing after seeing your Alaska pics and review!) Perhaps a 2nd career as a travel writer is in your future???

  12. I also hit a jackpot on a cruise and received a 1099 - I tried to get a win/loss statement but did not get one. Because we gamble with Harrah's group, they provide a win/loss and between the two I could write off the winnings. So if you belong to another group - use their win/loss. Otherwise, contact Celebrity and they can direct you to the casino department in Florida and try to get your statement.

LOL, I have been accumulating my several win/LOSS statements but need a little more loss (?) Anyway, waiting to hear back from Celebrity.

  13. I am NOT complaining, but on one day I did win a slot jackpot resulting in a 1099, but of course I did not win every day so would like a win/loss statement. Does anyone know who to contact? Celebrity gave me an email address that has not responded. Thanks everyone.
