I always bring a case of water on.  I put the case in an extra large zip lock bag then pack it into a duffle bag and check it in.  It always shows up at my cabin.

We took a cab from Newark airport to Cape Liberty this morning . It was a flat rate of $50. Plus $1.65 for the toll. This price was for a family of four and 6 pieces of luggage. I hope this helps. Cab was dirty and the driver didn't know how to get to the cruise port. But we arrived safely and relatively quick. It took around 25 minutes. Cape Liberty is probably the worst port I ever sailed out of. Looks like a warehouse and you have to take a shuttle bus from the warehouse to the ship. I'm on the Explorer and ready to cruise.
