  1. Hello,

I recently purchased my beverage package for my February Freedom Cruise. It states I can get 40% off on wine under $100. I love to have a few glasses on the balcony before dinner. Is it possible to buy a bottle at a bar, lounge, or dining room and bring it back to the cabin. Not a biggie if not. I’ll just get some extra Fitbit steps in walking to the nearest bar to get a glass.

    Any help appreciated!

    Thanks,

    Freddie

  2. The OP has a valid concern about snow and his car when he returns from the cruise. But, not to add to this, there is also an issue of leaving for the trip and the impact of weather. A thought; Car service to EWR and return eliminates the parking issue.

Thanks! That's one of my options as well. I may just book a hotel with free parking and see what the weather is like before deciding on transportation mode. Of course, weather could always change on a dime.

  3. That's a tough one. I've stayed at a bunch of EWR hotels and have driven by others. I've researched a lot of Park/sleeps and never found one with garage parking.

Folks have used Snap Parking for indoor parking. You could do that and get a hotel room separately. Snap would drop you off at the airport where you could pick up the hotel shuttle. You could go directly back to Snap when you get back.

Trinityreservations.com has the best Park/sleep rates and they quote tax included. I did one at the Ramada earlier this year in Feb and it was fine.

Thanks so much for the tips. I will look into those options!

  4. Hello,

I'm flying out of Newark airport to catch a cruise in Ft. Lauderdale in mid February. I see lots of great rates for park and fly hotels, but not sure which ones have a covered garage or lot. Concerned about getting back to snow covering cars and having to possibly dig out after a blizzard. I know there are a few covered lots, but with a 6:00 am flight, looking to stay at a hotel overnight to get to the airport nice and early with no travel concerns from NYC. Any help is appreciated.

    Thanks,

    Freddie

  5. I just ordered you a $70.00 case of water...I would just lose that amount in 20 mins on Wheel of Fortune in casino...$70.00? could save me$$

Thank you!! I will repay you kindly with cigars from the onboard shop!! They are probably priced higher than a land based cigar shop, but I understand a cruise line is in business to make money. If I don't like the policy, I could just not sail NCL. But I will because I know going in that cigars are more expensive on a cruise ship!

  6. Just found out my TA is kicking up more OBC as a result of water issue. I'm more than ok with ship water. He got me a mini suite for an outside cabin price. I'll shell out a few bucks for some water bottles. I only need bottled water on the islands. Probably cheaper in a store than getting off the ship.

  7. We've been on X our last 5 cruises (Caribbean). They offer a great product and good amenities. We travel with a large group and have a great time. With that said, a few years back we were deciding between GEM and Summit to Bermuda. We decided on GEM as the entertainment on X can be sparse. With our large group, we provide the fun for ourselves, so it didn't matter. But for just my wife and I, we like to take in more live music, comedy,etc.. I think either will be a fantastic cruise. The Breakaway is an awesome ship with amazing features, such as the restaurants and bars on the promenade. The Summit is much smaller and very cosy.

If I had to decide today, I would go with the Breakaway!

    Enjoy!!

  8. Just got off Silhouette yesterday, 4/12 and the cost was $10 pp. We ate there as my wife really enjoys the crepes and we rarely enjoy them at home. I guess for that reason, it was worth it. It is usually empty whenever we pass it. There was only 1 other table in there when we were. That's usually the case for us. I also wonder if they could do something more creative with the space.

  9. So last time we sailed over Easter, we embarked on a Saturday and Easter was the first full day at sea. They had an early mass and and evening mass. This cruise leaves on Sunday, so I'm thinking it will only be an evening mass around 5. That's smack in the middle of sailaway festivities, so to appease my wife, I'll find a church in Ft. Lauderdale near our hotel and we'll go before we board the ship.

  10. Hey Ken,

We're also with you on that cruise. We've cruised Easter week before. I do wanna say as far as menu, they had a lamb with mint jelly offering for Easter. Not sure if this was out of the norm, but I remember noting that it was most likely for Easter.

Most of our Floataway guys like to watch the Masters. They watch it in the casino bar. My thought is other TVS around the ship should be able to show the same thing.

As for Final Four, I'd have to imagine that would be on. The ships show NFL playoffs and Super Bowl, so I would bet on getting the international feed of the game. I'm sure someone will come along with firsthand knowledge. Only 2 weeks to go!! Can't wait!!

  11. Nice review.

As for entertainment' date=' have to say out of all the cruise lines that I have sailed on, Celebrity needs improvement in this area.

To please all passengers Celebrity should consider a nice mix of music in all the eras.

No one wants to hear the same songs night after night.

On our Reflection cruise last year, the band played the same songs over and over again and wore the same clothes too.

And in the Disco bar (sorry forget the name) All they played was latin music.[/quote']

When the band DID play!! Or for more than 15 minutes.
