Does anyone know when they stopped giving out the "old-style" funnel pins?
I'd love to hear a brief history of how this changed since I hadn't paid much attention to this until recently.

OK, this is the history of the “Funnel” shaped pins: there are 13 different pins with a single ship name: Festivale, Tropicale, etc. An additional 23 pins with double names: Carnival Holiday, Carnival Fantas, etc. Another 15 ship pins issued in 2000 (some with single names and some with double names). And 16 different pins dated 2001 (some with single names and some with double names). Credit for this info is greatly attributed to JR and another member here who I can't recall at the moment.

Although very little attention is given to the gold tone (Platium tone on the Dream) ship shaped pins Carnival started with the Mardi Gras and every ship had them for sale in the gift shop until Carnival stopped selling them on the Dream.
Carnival called the shield type pin a "tie-tack" and sold the ship shaped ones as a "hat-pin". The VIP (past Guest) funnel pins began with the Festivale and ended with the Dream.

We were on this cruise also.
The cruise was great, since I wasn’t at work and can make the best of anything! That being said, the MDR experience was just terrible. Food choices did seem to be better once you figured out how the menu worked (except for deserts)! I think that by the end of the fifth day, we knew more about how to order than our servers. Really not sure how the serving was supposed to go, our servers were serving totally different than the servers next to us. Ours just place a bowl of salad etc. in the middle of the table, the table next to ours, the servers brought the bowl and severed everyone that had order that dish.
Really found myself dreading dinner each night and booked the last two nights at the steak house (maybe this was Carnival’s plan).
I know it is new and will take a while to work out all of the kinks, but really unhappy to find out today that it will be rolled out to Liberty in January and we are booked for her in April :(

Found the answer to my question:
Starts Dec 8 on Glory then they will
"gauge additional guest feedback before rolling out the program fleetwide in the latter half of 2014 and 2015. Other ships included in the pilot are Carnival Liberty beginning in January, and Carnival Imagination and Carnival Inspiration starting in February."
We are on the Glory Dec 8 and received and email from Carnival about the new menu. Will let you know how it goes :)

SC runs a great operation once your on the dive boat! I have only taken their shuttle once out to their shop (had an early arrival), because of time constraints! Always take it back to the ship and have had no problems, though my DW sweats this!

I just discovered that I actually have a Paradise (whale tail) pin however it only says "Paradise" not "Carnival Paradise" and I am wondering if the latter actually exists?
Yes the "Carnival Paradise" exists, along with the "2000" & "2001" versions :)

Hmmmmm, I love warm chocolate melting cake too. It's one of my favorite things on Carnival. Hear that Cahill!! Don't do away with it like you've done with a lot of the things that used to good about Carnival. But that's not the point of my post.
I have an extra Carnival Platinum pin, (same as my avatar above), and if a regular board poster needs one, let me know. Prefer to trade. Need: Fascination w/o Carnival, Inspiration 2000 & 2001, Imagination 2001, Tropical 2001 and of course like most of us I need Festivale. If you have a Festivale and want to sell it. Name your price, I'll listen.
